Reviews for The Tower

It's stories like this that make me sad that people rate nearly every story with a five, making it impossible to give this one a rating superior to those.
The writing style was fresh, and the pacing was excellent. I very much liked that you did not rush into the conclusion, instead slowly building up to it, creating a more believable, likely scenario.
This is very intelligently written, but does not fall into the problem of using thesaurus words in place of good writing. (This is probably most likely on my mind since I saw that you quoted Neil Gaiman, and he wrotes something similar to the effect: "It's odd -- I do run into people (particularly Americans, for some reason) who believe that Good Writing is impenetrable, and uses Lots of Long Words. I was taught, growing up, reading people like Fowler and Graves, that the secret of good writing was clarity and, where possible, simplicity, and that the aim was, above all, communication. By all means use any word you want, as long as it's exactly the right word for what you need to say.") The reason that I quote this is that this story supports this argument fully, and Mr. Gaiman states the idea much better than I can.
