I love this story way too much for my own good, and actually ended up playing this game because of the strength of this fic; I'd given up on Final Fantasy in general after FFVII, attempting to play the following games and failing, so thank you for reminding me how good those games could be. As to the fic itself, your strength here is really the power of character and the slow dissolution of that character when faced with untenable circumstances, and the progressive means of that character's destruction is thoroughly enjoyable. Great stuff throughout, with a believable theme, good concepts, and a tragic end that works within the story and is still hot as hell. Really good stuff.
