Day Three

Title: Day Three
Author: Aurora-Kayd
Beta: Point-Earedpain
Disclaimer: I own plushies, and keychains, but not the characters.
Summary: I’m not quite sure where this and its sequel came from… I don’t think Vincent would try (at least, not hard) to make Cid quit smoking but, the plot bunnies commanded that this be written and so it was. Enjoy! (And the swearing thing comes mostly from my hesitation to write cetain words...yes, I realise that's odd considering the content of the next part...)
Rating: PG-13 (The saucy bit is in the next chapter).

Reeve walked past the galley, nearly tripping over Vincent. The gunman was sitting on the floor directly in front of the supply closet that was set a few feet from the galley entrance, long feet stretched almost all the way across the hallway. A thick novel was in his hands and Death Penalty was un-holstered next to his right thigh.

Reeve paused for a moment, and quirked his head to one side before asking, “Should I even ask?”

“It’s day three,” came the simple reply, Vincent didn’t even look up from the page.

Reeve let out a knowing “ah.” Vincent had somehow managed to convince Cid to quit smoking (Reeve suspected the withholding of certain pleasurable activities was involved) and, having quit himself, Reeve knew that the third day was the worst for withdrawals. “Why are you sitting in the hall?”

Vincent waited till he finished the page he was reading before elaborating. “I managed to collect all the packs Cid had hidden throughout the ship. Have to admit, there were some pretty clever spots. My favorite was the freezer. Anyway, I haven’t had a chance to properly dispose of them while we’ve been in the air, so I locked them all in here,” he gestured behind him.

The former executive sat down against the wall opposite the gunman. “How long have you been sitting here?”

“Since late last night. Made sure Cid was asleep before sneaking out. I knew no matter what I threatened him with he’d eventually try to sneak a pack or two.”

“How many times has he tried so far?”

“Four. He should be coming around again soon.” As if on cue, the noticeably more surly than usual blond appeared around the corner, trying to be as silent as possible. He gave up as soon as he saw the pair on the floor.

“Goddamn it!” Vincent gave a small wave to the pilot. “If you weren’t so fu… freaking good in bed…” Cid did an about-face and continued grumbling down the hall.

“Love you too, Chief!” Vincent called after him with a smile.

Reeve laughed. “I see you got him to cut back on the swearing as well. You must have some real talent.” Vincent said nothing, turning back to his book with a smug grin.
