WARNING: Yaoi (malexmale), lemon, lime & shounen-ai (please note that these are general warnings.
PAIRINGS: CloudxSephiroth
SYNOPSIS: Eighteen-year-old Cloud Strife had just enlisted into the ShinRa army. Having done so to escape the confines of his hometown, Nibeltheim. It was during SOLIDER training did he meet the man of his dreams... Though he didn't quite know it at the time. Is the General of ShinRa's army able to break through the icy barriers Cloud had built around himself? Especially if it means he would have to allow Cloud to do the same?
DISCLAIMER: Final Fantasy VII does not belong to me, these characters are the property of SquareSoft/SquareEnix. The storyline, however, is the act of my own perversion. Lastly I don't gain any funds by writing this fiction... & no, none of the characters suffered any harm during the writing process of this story... Which is FICTION might I add.
A/N: In this fic, the story in the game never existed. I'll stay true to the game as much as I can, keeping the characters true as possible, but the story is... Well, mostly OOC. I just wanted to write something playful, of course there will be a dark twist to it, every good plot has one. I'm probably going to make the women as annoying as I can, because this is a YAOI fanfiction, the main focus should be the men, the women are to act as a nuisance as much as possible... With a few exceptions.
All in all, I'm saying that the characters will be altered to my liking.
Cloud & Sephy aren't really gay.
Zack isn't alive.
Aeris is still charming & Tifa still has really really big... eyes. Now what were you thinking? Haha, silly Hentai! You knew I meant boobs.
BTW, R & R please. I'd like to know what you think.
CHAPTER ONE: Out of NibeltheimTomorrow was Cloud's Strife's official first say in the ShinRA Military Academy.Arriving at his dorm earlier that evening, he was shocked to find how large it was. His dorm (if you can call it that) had a large living area with a comfortable looking couch and chairs planted in front a fairly large flat screen, there was a long counter dividing the area to make room for a small kitchen space, complete with a food storage receptacle and a stove. Although during his perusal of the space, he quickly felt trepidation creeping from the base of his spine at the sight of the door leading to an extra room.
Cloud's naturally handsome face molded slightly into a grimace.
Extra rooms in dorms usually meant an extra bed and that meant there was a room-mate not too far behind.
The blonde wasn't looking forward to meeting whoever it was.
Now, don't think that Cloud is being judgmental.
It's really nothing personal to his soon-to-be roommate, he's just never been great with people.
They usually deemed his quiet nature unnerving and often thought him snobbish and arrogant.
Since Cloud never found the energy to rectify to situation, the misunderstanding was never straightened out.
Eyeing the rather large package he received upon arriving, he nudged it a bit with his bare foot.Upon his departure to the Academy, he was instructed to leave most of his possessions behind and bring only the essentials.
This greatly reduced Cloud's luggage to one, convenient gym bag.
His curiosity getting the better of him, Cloud pulled the box closer to him and proceeded to rummage through it's contents, soon finding out why he didn't need to bring much.
They provided most of it, if not all of it for you.
Inside were an alarming amount of things, such as: pairs of shorts and shirts, both printed with large, bold "S.M.A" on them, two pairs of running shoes (miraculously in his size), Cadet Uniforms (which Cloud immediately hung neatly in his closet) with two leather belts, socks (two rows of them, one completely black, one white), two pairs of military grade boots as well as dress shoes and lastly, a few cadet caps.
Cloud breathed deeply as he finished putting the box's contents into their respective places in his closet, surveying his new quarters slightly in awe.He was really doing this.
After the death of his father, he was the only one who was able to take care of his mother.
Not that she noticed his efforts.
Her mental state had pretty much shattered when her husband passed.
Widowed and now a single mother, Claudia Strife had turned to dangerous intrigues in hopes to drown her sorrows.
Within the span of three years Claudia had become an uncontrollable drunk, either whittling all they had on gambling or alcohol, forcing her fifteen year old son to take on multiple jobs just to keep the house.
There were days when he feared that they were gonna go hungry. He scrounged around the house for any loose change, dug through the couch cushions just to gather enough money to buy milk. Even at that he rationed it, making sure he measured every drop. He had to hide the rest, otherwise Claudia used it to buy gin or bet it on Shiva knows what.
Cloud had to drop out of school when it came impossible for him to balance both education and his jobs.
It was hard to do that. He liked school, he didn't so much miss the people, but it was those books. He wanted to learn so much more... But he didn't have a choice. His momma didn't have anyone else.
But after all those years of struggling, of her not giving a shit... He just couldn't take it anymore.
Using what little savings he had (mostly what he could hide from his mother), he did the hardest thing he could do.
Sent his mother to rehab and then left town.
He wanted to be somebody damn it.
He wanted to do things that meant something... He couldn't afford to drown with his mother anymore.
His chest ached slightly at the betrayal in his mother's eyes when the doctors and nurses came and took her away.
His mind remembering the screamed curses and words that pierced his heart as they dragged her into their white van.
It was Angry Claudia. Angry Claudia spewed pure venom that seemed to rip at him every time. You'd think after three years of that shit he'd grow a thicker skin by now..
Fat chance of that happening apparently. Cloud learned to categorize his mother's moods into three entities: There was Angry Claudia, who spat and cursed vile words, and liked to break things and steal from him. Sweet Claudia was soft spoken and called him endearments and liked to stoke his hair and seemed not to notice when he flinched slightly at the contact... Then there was Pathetic Claudia that cried brokenly, her skinny body wracked with anguish as she cried for her lost husband, and cried harder as she apologized to Cloud for being such a burden. Sobbing that she loved him, that he was the only one she's got left. Pathetic Claudia was more painful to endure then Angry Claudia... Sweet Claudia just made him feel uncomfortable and every time she got close, she made him so scared that he was ready to jump right out of his skin. But he didn't dare move away when she touched him. If he displeased her in anyway, Sweet almost always morphed into Angry and right after would be Pathetic. And damn it all to Diablo if he was going to subject himself to Pathetic. No it was better to endure that small torture.
Cloud shook his head slightly, as if trying to shake away the memory. In his gut he knew he was doing the right thing. When he graduated from the Academy, he'd be able to provide for her, take care of her, keep her healthy, keep her alive. He couldn't help anyone the way the situation was now.
Enrolling here was the biggest decision he had ever made.
Glancing at the clock, he quickly realized how late it was getting.Leaning backwards until the back of his head met the soft pillow behind him, he stared at the ceiling.
It was nice to sleep on clean sheets for once.
But something felt off. His brows furrowed, deep in thought.
The he realized something.
Tonight was the first time his head wasn't filled with fear of the next day.
Would they be okay tomorrow?
Was there enough to eat?
Did I hide the money he earned well enough? She wouldn't find it, right?
Did he lock his door so she couldn't come in?
There was... Nothing. Sweet nothing.
Reaching back to turn off his lamp, the room darkened, the light of the moon shining over him.
Lacing his fingers behind his head he closed his eyes, his long lashes feathering against his fair cheeks, and slowly drifted to a dreamless sleep.
------Today was the NRO (New Recruit Orientation).
Cloud laid awake in bed, his lithe body wrapped cocoon-like between stark white sheets. He looked almost angelic with his pale, blue eyes and his spiky, ice blonde hair haloing around his head, feathering gently over his fair cheek. With the sunlight glinting off his fair coloring, his body simply glowed like some mythical god.
Cloud didn't want to get up.
With his sleep filled gaze, he glanced to his left to eye his alarm clock.
9:00AM the bright, red, glowing numbers told him.He had about an hour to get ready and head over to the auditorium for the NRO.After a few minutes of arguing with himself, Cloud finally sat up , his arms and legs still tangled in his sheets. With a few grunts and a lot of struggling, the offending fabric fell from his shoulders and down his bare torso, revealing a very much nude Cloud Strife. He ran long, nimble fingers through his spiky locks as he swung his legs over the edge. Resting his elbows on his knees, he pushed his face into his hands.
9:15AMCloud stood, his head tilted toward the shower head as the warm water cascaded down his body, steam rising from the shower floor, completely fogging up the bathroom. Turning off the water, his bright, blue gaze drifted downwards, watching the water and soap spin in a tiny spiral down the drain until it was out of sight.Oh Ifrit... It must be too early if I'm actually fascinated by shit like that.
9.20AMCloud was now tugging half-heartedly at the laces of his boots. With swift and efficient movements, he tied the two ends in a nice, neat bow before rising from the edge of his bed. The deep blue uniform felt odd, sort of stiff, but as he moved around a little, the fabric loosened, allowing easier, more comfortable movement. The blonde stepped in front of the full length mirror on his closet door.
Crap, he thought to himself, it doesn't look too bad.
And it was true. The dark blue uniform accentuated his broad shoulders, his long sleek torso. His belt was straight, strapped neatly around his hips, the silver clasp glittering brilliantly in his reflection.
The pants, on the other hand, were a little on the tight side, or not as loose as he was used to wearing. They showed off how long his legs were, standing five feet and ten inches, turned out to be quite a bit of leg.
Cloud knew he wasn't going to like the results, but he did it anyway. Slowly turning his back to the mirror, he hesitantly turned his head only to gasp in horror/
Shiiit, I should have known.
Cloud slid his hands over his derriere, giving it a little pat in vain hopes to obscure.
9:45AMCloud tore his gaze from the red digital numbers and back to his reflection. His hair had began to dry as it was already beginning to spike up naturally. With heavy sigh, he spun on his booted heel and was out the door in a matter of seconds.10:00AMHe had clearly overestimated his directional skills. It took him a while to figure out how to get the the auditorium, so he was clearly surprised to find himself on time. Unfortunately, for him, there weren't any good seats left in the front, so he found the next available seat.Approximately two feet away and the closest to the exit.
At least I'd be the first one out of here.
The NRO had officially begun when a voice boomed from the over head speakers.
"Cadets, arise!"
In slight unison, the untrained cadets rose, all their young faces carrying a look of nervousness and confusion.
A shadow fell upon the doorway. Sitting so close, Cloud noticed the movement in this peripheral vision. But of course, like an idiot, he turned to see who it was.
Silver hair was the first thing that caught Cloud's attention.
He was tall, unbelievably tall, with his long hoary locks flowing down his back like a waterfall of crystal, in stark contrast with the leather ensemble he wore.
But there was something different about this man, that was what Cloud knew for sure, he just couldn't place it. There was something almost inhuman about the way his green eyes glowed. It was unnatural, it made him curious.
Cloud tilted his head gently to one side, his expression thoughtful.
Strange.
Seeing those same eyes widen in surprise made Cloud realize that he had said his comment loud enough for the other man to hear.
Shiiiit.
Not knowing what else to do, the blonde simply turned away as if nothing happened, totally dismissing the other.
Hm, what an interesting boy. Sephiroth thought to himself as he made his way down the aisle toward the stage."At Attention!" the voice boomed again. The new cadets, not knowing what to do, simply followed what the higher ranking officers were doing. They all gently clasped their hands behind their back, legs braced apart slightly as they waited for Sephiroth to take his place on stage.
"At ease."
Cloud shivered slightly at the deep baritone of the man's voice resounded throughout the room. He watched the man in leather gesture for everyone to be seated and lowered himself slowly into his seat, tugging gently at his collar. There was something about that man that made him feel... Very strange, there was no other word for it.
"I would assume that at least a good half of you know who I am, " He began, tucking an errant silver lock behind the shell of his ear, the light glinting off his earring as he did so, "but for introduction's sake, I will enlighten the ones who do not."
Cloud though his voice sounded like velvet, but laced with pure and unmistaken authority.
"I am General Sephiroth."
Cloud felt his heart drop into his stomach and fought to keep himself from groaning in misery.
"And I welcome you all to the ShinRa Military Academy."
... And now he felt his stomach acids eat away at his heart's tissues.
He could not believe he just openly ogled at the General of the ShinRa Army.
Unaware of Cloud's mental lashing the General continued on, "Here you will learn all the basics of being a SOLIDER." He paced slightly, his heavy leather boots thudding gently, "You'll learn how to shoot with accuracy, how to think quickly and efficiently under pressure, how to protect yourself as well as others. Teamwork is key, and most of all..." He paused slightly, eyeing the seated cadets, "you will learn to do what you are told.""Refusing to ahere to orders will not only jeprodize you, but your squad; your comrades."
The General resumed his pacing, his expression intense, his green eyes glowing, "I don't care if you were somebody back whatever hole you crawled out from... Because here, you're nothing. You are fodder, a body who is just taking up space. You could be easily replaced. You, my friends, are even lower than the lowest ranks in this army, because you have yet to become an official part of it." Sephiroth's gaze centered on Cloud's blonde head (which wasn't that difficult because the kid's hair stuck out like a swore thumb), despite the fair distance, he could make out every detail of the young man's face. To be honest, he felt a tang of disappointment to find the young man to be expressionless.
He usually made quite an impact on people.
"From here on out, things will get more difficult." He warned, "the training will leave you weary, in body and mind. You can be sure that every single one of you will be broken, but I can promise you this: regardless of the blood, sweat and tears, you will be the best SOLIDER you can be." after a small pass of breath as he sighed, he bowed slightly with a quiet "Thank you" following gently.
With that, Sephiroth turned away from the mic stand, his hair flowing in a silky wave behind him as he sat down next to a SOLIDER on stage, his long legs crossing at the ankles as his leather trench coat opened to reveal knee-high leather boots. For the remaining twenty minutes, the cadets were assigned to a platoon, given folders of the Academy’s handbook and class schedules. When that was finished they were promptly dismissed, but not before they were informed that classes begin tomorrow.
Cloud looked at the time… It’s only 10:45… What the hell am I going to to for the rest of the day?
But at the end it didn't matter really, he was out of there before any one else had a chance to notice him.
------“WOO, that kid stared you doowwn!” Cackled a spiky dark haired SOLIDER as he lounged on the dark leather couch in the General’s office.“Zack…” Sephiroth growled dangerously. But the other man seemed completely oblivious to the danger, but then again, why would he? He’s been friends with the General for years. “Oh come on Seph, you gotta admit, you were amused! You stood there for a real long time.” Sephiroth sat at his huge mahogany desk, with papers laid askew on the surface… Yet his expression seemed distracted. “As it would seem…”
"You looked shocked for a moment, did the little Chocobo say somethin'?"
Sephiroth's lips twitched at little at the nickname. The blonde did resemble a Chocobo a little, with his big blue eyes that seemed too big for his face, he was a little bit too skinny and his hair spiked up in a way that wasn't normal.
"Strange." he muttered, his Mako green eyes staring at his desk.
"What?" his best friend called, not hearing him.
"He called me 'strange'." and his face darkened as his friend laughed at him, "S'not funny, asshole."
"The hell it's not!" Zack wailed, his hand resting on his abdomen as he doubled over, "And his face, he totally dismissed you, you of all people."
He didn't like to be reminded about that, "I was there jackass, I know what he did." he silently damned his friend's fantastic eyesight.
Suffice to say, the General was not used to be dismissed. At least not that damned easily.
"Oh man, it was beautiful. Never seen anyone do that to ya, not even a scrawny ass kid like that."
"He wasn't scrawny!"
"No, but someone needs to feed that dude a sandwich or something."
Sephiroth brought his thoughts back to the blonde boy from this morning. His face did look a bit sunken, his expression was hard, there was a tension behind those crystalline eyes, his wide mouth and pert lips were set in a slight frown, something he doubted the blonde was even aware of.
One thing was for certain. The kid did not have it easy before he came to the Academy.
He glowered a little bit.
The hell? Why did he care whether he had an easy life or not. It was none of his business. He didn't even know him.
"Strife." his friend announced.
"What?" he grunted, shaking himself mentally
"His name," Zack was waving a blue folder with a picture clipped to it, "is Cloud Strife."
