Chapter Ten

Halfway through the meeting, Janet interrupted.

"General, I've finished analysing the samples of everyone the team has been in contact with. The good news is that the virus is not... usually contagious. The bad news, is that one other person has been infected, and he must be temporarily confined on the planet along with SG-1."

Daniel's face fell immediately, and he tried to discretely signal to Janet that that was not a good idea. Janet did notice, but she didn't change her course.

"The alien patient Sephiroth who I have been monitoring for withdrawal symptoms due to a drug called 'Mako' will need to be cleared for gate travel as soon as possible. Thankfully, Teal'c's symbiont is containing the virus within his body and he is safe to remain on base. Hopefully I can formulate an antidote within a week."

"Janet?" Daniel asked, trying desperately to convey his mortification.

"Yes, Daniel?" the woman returned, calm and cool as ever.

Sighing, Daniel realized that there was no way he could argue. "Is there any chance I could take a shipment of coffee and a battery powered espresso machine?"

"No!" Jack yelled at the same moment that Hammond answered. "I don't see why not."

Sure that Janet simply wanted to get the Mako obsessed patient out of her hair, Daniel slunk away from the meet half an hour later. Maybe it wouldn't be too bad... maybe Sephiroth would behave himself... Maybe a giant meteor would fall on the mountain.
