The awkwardness at the office was rather amusing; it was nice to make him suffer for a change. There were a few occasions where he tried to strike up a conversation, bringing up the night before to discuss it further, but I wasn’t interested. I wanted to forget it ever happened. I merely dismissed him with an evil smirk every time he approached and told him that I was far too busy, when it was completely apparent that I was not. His frustration was clearly noticeable, especially by the way he constantly glared. Poor Elena nearly broke down in tears on three occasions today by the way her senior colleague behaved. But that wasn’t my concern. He needed to control his aloof emotions. For a leader, Tseng, that’s rather unprofessional. You should know better.
I was actually enjoying the torment, I could see the way it affected him. I ignored him completely and acted as if nothing had happened, the way it was back at square one. The past couple of weeks had only been a false fantasy, as far as I was concerned, that’s all it had been…it had never taken place.
And I would make sure that it never did again.

I was packing my things up to leave for the evening, filing my papers away, making some room on my desk. I was sick of the sight of paperwork, it was everywhere. I was going over the morning I’d had- it wasn’t exactly made pleasant. I couldn’t help but think over in my mind the things that were said last night. The way I acted, the way he acted. The things I’d said, the things he said…
What he had said was rather puzzling, thinking about it now. Why did he?
Then it hit me, it fucking hit me. How had I not seen? It all made sense.
My eyes widened as I thought it through. I bit my lip in amusement, covered my forehead with my hand and then cruelly laughed out loud.
Oh, god, Tseng…you can’t be serious. You can’t possibly be serious.
But, it was so obvious, so completely obvious.
I’d been too angry to see it before…too wrapped up in my own aggression to take it in. He didn’t hate me. It was quite the opposite in fact. This was classic, too fucking easy. I could get my own back on him through mortification. Humiliate him like he had done to me.
Ok, Tseng. It’s now your turn to suffer.

I was preparing myself for the board meeting, glancing overt last month’s statistics and reviewing my notes. I wasn’t even distracted by the sound of the doors opening downstairs or the footsteps that followed.
“President Rufus”
I looked up from my computer monitor momentarily and then smiled smugly as I dropped my gaze back to the screen. “Tseng, what can I do for you?”
He placed his palms flat upon the work surface and leaned across the desk. “How long are we going to keep this up for?”
“You know, Tseng, people usually knock before entering. It’s bad manners to barge in unannounced. I could have had company with me.”
He glared and pushed himself up from the desk. “Rufus, I’m getting increasingly irritated of tiptoeing around you all the time. We need to resolve this situation now.”
“Tseng, remember who you’re speaking to.” I stated sarcastically, idly flipping over the paper I was using as reference. “That’s no way to talk to your superior, and as far as I‘m concerned… there’s nothing left to resolve.”
Tseng slipped his hand behind the back of the desk, opening up a concealed compartment and yanking the computer cable out with force. I certainly wasn’t impressed when the display flickered, then blackness engulfed the screen. He then allowed the cable to fall freely from his fingers.
“I admit it. I should have told you from the beginning. But I didn’t. It was just easier this way.” His eyes were low. They didn’t even meet with mine as he spoke.
“What was easier? Denying your responsibilities, or getting me into bed?” My arms were now crossed over my chest as I reclined in my chair. I was undoubtedly going to make him work hard for this. I had a lot of questions to ask, and a lot of sweating to make him do. I was going to thoroughly enjoy it.
Sighing heavily, he slumped into a nearby chair. “What do you want to know?”
I glared and sat up straight in my seat, leaning forwards with my crossed arms placed on top of the desk. “Everything, every little detail you’ve neglected to tell me.”
“Fine, of course. It’s the least you deserve”
“Damn right it is, Tseng. For a start, you can tell me what your actual intentions were.”
He took a deep breath, and exhaled it heavily. “It was something that got out of control. It was never intended to begin and definitely not intended to continue.”
“It did continue though, didn’t it? You didn’t answer my question, Tseng. How could you have allowed this to happen? Why did you allow this to happen?” On the outside I was glaring; on the inside I was grinning…this was so amusing, watching him squirm under my gaze. I could easily keep this going all day.
“You were drunk, you came on to me. I was flattered. I tried to push you away but...”
“Obviously didn’t push me hard enough then, did you, Tseng? Only when I was under you, getting pushed across the mattress by your hips! What on earth were you thinking?”
“Embarrassment and discomfort were never intended. As I said, it was never supposed to happen. It just…did.”
“So you’re saying I was basically just something to pass your time. Something to fill in the gaps between your schedule?” I said with slight sarcasm.
“No. It was nothing like that. I have nothing but respect for you.”
I tried to hide the smile that was breaking free across my face, but I was finding it ever so difficult. He was nervous, something I’d never thought I’d see…and I was making it so much worse for him.
“Well, in case you haven’t noticed, Tseng, I’m a man. If you look closely, you’ll find that you are also a man. I don’t know about you, but I’m defiantly NOT ‘that sort’ of man. If you are, well… good for you.”
“My sexuality is of no concern to anyone else, and whatever your pervious comment was implying, it’s completely inaccurate.”
He was trying his best to speak, but was cut off every time by my constant flow of random interference. He groaned and rolled his eyes in frustration.
“You allowed me to have sex with you, willingly. What impression does that give off, Tseng? What are people going to think?”
“My personal life is not something I make a habit of expressing in public. Whatever I do in my own time, outside of my profession, is kept to myself.”
“Tseng, my question still hasn’t been answered. What were your intentions?”
“I didn’t have any intentions. What happened, just…happened.”
I turned in my chair and crossed my arms, giving off the feeling of annoyance. But I was actually really enjoying myself. I’d never seen his facial expressions change so much. “One thing I don’t understand, Tseng…how could it have been easier for it to continue. Didn’t that inconvenience you, having to continuously commute to my side? Wouldn’t it have been less hassle to just, I don’t know…NOT turn up?”
He sighed and stared at the wood grain on the desk, averting his sight from mine.
“Tseng….?” I repeated dryly, trying my best to keep my facial expressions to a minimum.
“No, it wouldn’t have been easier. It would have been in fact much harder.”
I shrugged my shoulders as I spoke “Indulge me, Tseng. I have no idea of what you‘re talking about.”
“You have no idea at all…” He muttered under his breath. Unbeknown to him, I understood completely.
“Tseng, you’re supposed to hate me. Normal people generally don’t indulge in sexual intercourse with people that they hate. Not unless they’re sadistically sick in the head.”
“Hate you? What gave you that impression?” He stated in surprise.
“Well, what about the constant glaring, the silences and the sudden changes in mood. What is with that? It’s been going on for months!”
He was biting his tongue at this point, not wanting to give anymore away. I’d soon get it out of him, though. I fell back against my chair. Resting my elbow on the arm rest, I placed my chin in my hand. “So, if I’d never caught on, if I was still completely oblivious to your actions and unacquainted with your identity, would you have still allowed this to continue?”
“I was going to confess after the incident at my apartment…but when I tried to approach you, Scarlet was present.”
“Ah yes, that sudden appearance you made. She was… I remember now. But you’ve had plenty of other opportunities to come find me. Why didn’t you?”
“I did. I even came to your house to confess.”
“You didn’t though, did you? You just kept quiet. The only time you did open your mouth was to shove your tongue down my throat.”
“Rufus…I’m going to be straight with you here. I didn’t intend for it to happen, but I’d be lying if I said that I regretted it.”
“How nice for you, Tseng…how very nice. Well, the feeling isn’t mutual. I want nothing more to be said about this. As far as I’m concerned, it-never-happened!”
“It did happen. though. It happened more than once. How else was I supposed to react?”
“Err, you could have said- no Rufus, you’re drunk, you have no idea of what you are doing. I’m going to leave now before you make a complete idiotic exhibition of yourself. But you didn’t, did you?” I attempted to sarcastically mock him…but my performance was just so convincing, he started to blush with embarrassment.
“I did leave, the first time it happened in your office. I took you home after you passed out on the couch. You don’t realize how hard it was for me to do that, thinking that you felt the same way.”
“Obviously not. I wasn’t exactly in the right frame of mind to know anything at the time. I-was-drunk.”
He sighed heavily. “If that is what you want, sir…then I will respect your wishes completely. We‘ll draw a line under it.”
“It is what I want. I want this to remain between these walls. I never what it to be brought up again.”
He leaned back into his chair and studied me, collecting his words in his mind. He arched an eyebrow with interest. “So, would I be correct in thinking…that you regretted everything we did?”
I nodded in accordance.
“Would I also be correct in thinking, that if it was someone else and not myself, would you still permit the arrangement to continue?”
I shook my head this time. “Tseng, I don’t do men. You are obviously the exception, seen as though I really didn’t know what I was doing at the time.”
He sighed. “Rufus…was your gun actually loaded back at the house. Were you actually going to shoot me the other night?”
“Well, I was a little disturb by the matter, and you should be flattered, Tseng. I only shoot the people I really hate.” I smirked.
“You really hate me?” He said with slight hurt in his voice, trying to hide it through sarcasm. He then groaned and looked up to meet my eyes. “Well, you should be flattered also. Because I only sleep with the people I really like.”
I arched an eyebrow at his comment. “You like me. What’s that supposed to mean?”
Tseng smiled “It means that you’re wrong in thinking that there was ever any hatred meant towards you.”
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, trying my best not to laugh. “Tseng, I could fire you. I could even kill you; it would make things a hell of a lot easier for me. But it would also inconvenient me greatly, because however much I don’t want to admit it, you are uniquely efficient at your job. Now, I’d like very much for this to be forgotten and never spoken of again. It was an experience, I’ll admit…but a bad one at that. So, if you don’t mind, I’d prefer it if you left.”
“You can forget it, just like that?” He smiled curiously.
“Quite easily…now, please leave. I have work to do.” I glared, reaching down and lifting up the limp monitor cable from the carpet, inspecting the end. Now, where does this socket go?
