The red Tram hovered over the sea port town as the four man team debated being lowered down via rope or hovering low enough to jump out. Even from the height it has over town they can see the panic among the citizens as they scramble about.
'I can't believe this is happening; Leviathan is so docile. That witche's mind control must be immensely strong that it can make him do this.' He glared at the creature who'd chosen that moment to spring up from the Sharuli ocean to spray the town with a hard burst of water. The large. aquatic bubble slammed hard into the concrete housing a strip of train track, smashing it completely to rubble on impact.
"So we definitely should be lowered, yeah?" Dana looks to her commander for direction, though she's already got her hands dipped beneath the benchseat where the rappel-cables are located. "Leviathan won't know what hit him when I'm through."
'Ignorant brat, what the Hell?' He side-eyes her, wondering where her compassion is for the living.
The airlocked door slid open with an audible whizz, allowing them access to exit. The rappelling is anchored securely to a bar attached to the wall just behind the pilot's seat; Zell gave it a few strong tugs to be sure it's locked in, then he moved to the open doorway and lowered himself out; descending until his sneakers hit the ground.
"Whoa!" His stance swayed heavily, on the next earthquake he was knocked to hands and knees; standing again, he found it even less possible to stay upright having to, once again, recover from a fall.
"What's..." Hector doesn't finish his sentence as he's knocked to the rumbling concrete, slamming into Zell, who had just found his footing through a surfer's pose.
"This isn't going to work." Stacy began casting Triple on herself, before casting Float on the party. "There," she grinned. "this should help somewhat."
"Good call, Stace'!" Her commander cheered with a fist pumped into the air. 'It's been a while since I've moved with wings, but it shouldn't be too hard.' Arms crossed, he gives an affirmed nod.
"Umm, commander Dincht?" Stacy points a very manicured fingernail at him. "You're upside down."
Opening his eyes, he gasped over seeing his team on the ceiling. Laughing sheepishly as he rights himself; glad that he'd done so before the other cadets assigned out this way showed up to help out.
"Can we get on with this?" Dana asked, gunblade poised for attack. "It's just dispatching a puffed-up water snake, and we've faced GFs before."
Dana's confidence of her own skills in battle never dwindled in boastful words, but could she back it up each time was something to be seen during the actual fighting. And frankly, that puffed-up water snake was looking pretty threatening, if the others could say so. But she was right on the otherhand, they have all faced Guardian Forces before so this time would be no different, even with mind control guiding the creatures fighting style.
"Stacy, I'm gonna need you to get the civilians out of here. Bring fifteen each to this spot, and load them onto the Tram. It should hold that many, at least." He figured if anyone could calm and sheep-herd the panicked townspeople, it was Stacy. Her cheerful disposition could charm almost anyone. "They'll be taken to Esthar, incase they ask."
"Yes, sir!" After a hand saluted her face, with fingertips just touching the tips of her purple-dyed blonde hair she flies out towards the first of many civilians to help.
"Our mission is to dispatch Leviathan, not kill it. Do you understand?" And he didn't bother to be discreet, looking right at the enlarged-headed Dana to be sure she'd gotten the messege. "Same goes for the monsters, some of them could be people and there's a chance we can reverse the effects of the mutations once the sorceress is killed."
"Of course." Dana replied with a bored tone.
"Sir!" Hector saluted, offering his favorite instructor and commander a winning smile, and his pissy comrad a near sneer along with a slanted glance.
The trio sped off in the direction the sonic booms generated the worst; the tips of their toes acting like honing rods. The problem with that was Leviathan wasn't staying still long enough for them to make it to the location and call him out. It was like playing whack-a-mole without the option to whack.
Zell really hated to say it, but what choice did he have. "Let's split up. Dana, you take north west, Hector north east, I'll take south." Being commander, he'll naturally handle the largest space. "Start casting electrical and ice attacks if he pops up. It's our best option to at least slow him down to draw him in." He didn't add that he was praying that drawing the Guardian in would change its mind about being on a rampage.
The cadets separate in their assigned direction not knowing what encounters awaited them once they got there.
Hector saw one first, an Adamantoise making its way slowly across the pavement at the edge of town, its long talons carved half moons in its passing. After what they've been briefed about, he isn't the least bit surprised at seeing a monster miles away from where it usually migrates, which is around Long Horn Island. In fact, he'd of been genuinely surprised to not see a monster far from home creeping its way through town, especially after what happened in Dollet.
'Secretary Trepe told us there's civilians mixed with the monsters.' He scratched his head when the creature bellowed upon seeing prey.
Its lust for dealing harm magnified by a sorceresses tampering once again. Most monsters don't assault anyone but each other anymore, and that's only over a sort of turf-war or 'dinner option' sort of situation. But there was a problem with knocking out people and destroying monsters. Telling which from which.
His question was answered when another mutant turtle appeared not far behind the other. This one with a blue shell.
'Right! The civilians have a strange coloring, while the monsters look as usual.' Glad for the easy distinction, Hector popped his fist together with excitement and rushed the shell-backed menace.
The brawny cadet didn't give it a chance to even raise a claw, casting Quake to move in for the attack first. While the mutated turtle felt the earth move beneath it, bouncing and flipping from its front to its back; Hector jumped 20 feet in the air and landed on the Adamantoise in time with its hitting the ground it's being bounced from. He's seen enough television to know a turtle is volnurable on its stomach, so he's sure to make each attack to its gut really count in the pain department.
Repelled back from the impacts, each time, has the male looking like he's having fun bouncing on a trampoline instead of fighting a monster. When the earthquake ceased, Hector cast Thundaga to add to the damage. It will take a lot more than a blow to the gut and a blast of electricity to take the beast down, but he loved a good battle. And had a easy grin spread over his face when the creature cast Shell for self preservation. Looks like it came ready to battle as well.
Dana came across her show of the monsterous herd as well, but rather then rip into magic spells and summons- although she'd been told she shouldn't- she changed her junction to electrical advantage then began slicing away at the creature. An old sort of method called a Quadra Slam, one of many attack methods in her Dispatch; a sword technique passed down from her acient ancestors for generations. It was good then, and it seemed to be good now, especially with the added shots fired from gun of the gunblade as she slashed into the turtle with four powerful slices, diagonal overhead, sideways.
The beast was feeling enough pain to stagger in confusion before toppling onto its back; it looked like it were trying to wipe the wounds off, and when it couldn't it chose to heal with White Wind before it was able to roll over by paddling a flippered foot against the ground. It couldn't have come at a better time, because watching the creature enabled her to learn the technique. Now she can do it too.
Ready to attack, it's giant claws scraped the pavement brushing asphalt into the young woman's face succeeding in momentarily blinding her. Dana doesn't see the Adamantoise is coming at her, full speed; opening its snapping vice-grip jaws to take a bite. It nipped and plucked away at the girl's limbs standing in the path of his bite.
Staggering, she fell on her butt having to scoot away from the oncoming attacks with one hand, while the other clears the debris from her eyes, the little flecks were scratching the crap out of her eyes. Through the peek of her left eye, she aimed the point of the gunblade at the mutant turtle then fired repeatedly in attempt to thwart it back. The Adamantoise took the shots expertly in the forehead, crying out in pain when a bullet landed right through its left eye. That was as good an opening as any, and Dana popped up from the scratching ground to readjust her stance for attack.
"Hhhhaaa!!!" She came after the beast.
Stacy entered the small hotel, that should be considered more of a B&B because it's so small only seven room in the two story building, and she called out for any straggling patrons who may have hidden out inside.
"Don't be afraid, I'm not infected!" She called out, not adding out louded the 'maybe' over the free and clear that she'd declared herself. Truth is, any one of them could be infected. It was just a matter of when one would change that makes it so frightening. "I'll get you out of here to the evacuation site!"
"I'm up here!" Called a small voice, full of relieved undertones. "The roof came in... I'm stuck."
Stacy doesn't respond to the words, she just makes her way up the stairs to the second floor. Whomever is trapped wasn't kidding, the second floor was a complete wreck! There's significant water damage from one of Leviathan's blasts, it must have come through the ceiling like a wrecking ball. And the damage landed on this one woman.
'Don't make that mistake, there could be people unconcious under the rubble.' Kneeling beside half a woman, she asked while lifting boards from her lower half. "Were you alone up here?"
The blonde woman groaned in agony when a clump of plaster is removed from her lank body's bruised back. She's been trapped for some time beneath the damaged roof. "I can't feel my legs," She muttered to Stacy as she was slid from beneath concrete debris.
"Shit." Was her response to the declaration. "I'll see that you get help," holding the woman bridal-style in her arms, Stacy stumbled forward a step but held her footing. Recasting Float, she asked the woman again. "Is there anyone else on this floor besides you?"
"I think another woman, but I didn't hear her calling for help after an hour; I don't know where she is."
Getting the woman downstairs, Stacy has to detour back to the drop-site in order to help her onboard. She may or may not ever walk again, but the cadet isn't going to let her be afraid in this situation. She can at least calm the injured woman's fears of being in the area. And as far as the other victim, who may already be dead, she would have to wait a moment more before she's found; the plucky cadet isn't willing to sit the woman against a wall while she searched a building that might be hit again. The GF might spot her through the hole in the roof and use it as an excuse to hit the place again.
The injured lady pressed broken her nose into Stacy's chest, crying from a new kind of fear from the height of being flown into the Tram.
"Someone take her from me, please!" She called over the noise of the whirling blades. "her legs might be broken so give her a seat!"
The small group onboard the craft gasped and shrieked when spotting Leviathan emerge from the water; the length of its body rivaling a 14 floor hotel. It reared back sucking in a breath, and with a jerk of its head it shot a blast of water at the mechanics shop.
"Oh man!" Zell couldn't crane his head far enough back to see the beast's face. But he could tell that the shot was meant to destroy, not to be taken as some angry hissy-fit. "Bishop can you hear me?" He asked the Esper spirit living somewhere inside of him.
There was a deep sound from the whale's throat before it's telekinetic ability came through. "Yes, I can hear you." Its wise voice boomed in the martial artist's mind.
"I need your help, can you get at Leviathan from under water?" He asked. "Keep him in my sights, slow him down, but don't let him attack the beams anymore. I don't know how much longer this place will remain standing if he keeps hitting it."
"Yes, I understand."
Touching a hand to his chest, he cast the Esper out of himself, knowing it won't turn on him like their Guardian Forces should the sorceress begin speaking to them again through Siren. The giant white whale slammed into the serpant with a strong rolling attack, knocking him back into the sea with him, where they engaged in a game of violent tag. Only with this game Bishop has the advantage, able to control 3 elements at a time.
Zell watched as flashes glowed beneath the deep blue water from the Esper's lightning bolts. It was hypnotic; along with a rich buzzing sound from overhead as back-up arrived. Tilting his head back, he took it in, the sight of the sky looking like it's just had a bad breakout of red pimples from 20 plus Trams flew by over them. Some pausing to dispense reinforcements, others continuing by with cadets and commanders going to other locations. It was a beautiful, powerful sight. Knowing that something like this was needing to be done, but with this display a show that it could be done.
Grinning, inspite of his current situation, Zell cupped his hands to his mouth calling. "Woo hoo hoo!!! Yeah!!!"
Not the only on seeing this, Squall and Seifer are in their Tram, due south, watching the steadily disappearing Fisherman's Horizon become emersed in little red dots. A lot of them were empty and on their ways to pick up cadets, others moving to deposite them in their rightful places.
"They came a lot sooner than I would have thought." Seifer muttered.
Squall nods; not saying a thing about the detection of relief from the man's voice over Zell being out of the largest scale of threat from possibly having to fight alone. They'd seen him as they went by, and even in the distance they could see Leviathan's enormity rising from the water. They couldn't stop to help; to cast a bolt or attack of some kind would only result in their being blasted from the sky.
Zell was removed from his elated state when a new sort of rumbled erupted beneath his feet, after landing from the spell cast on him. It was smaller, a sort of magnitude-style quake. It must be from Bishops Sea Song, a strong attack of bubbles that can beat into you like a lead ball, or stab you from bursting with a spray of needling rain.
'Hate to qoute Seifer when he's being a dick, but, I'd better 'stop Dinking' around.' His hair slowly went from blond to a frosty snow white as he fused with Ramuh, the lightning Esper. 'Leviathan must be giving Bishop a run for his money if he's whipping out the big stuff.'
Running to the town's edge, he peers into the darkness in wait for a flash or gurgle of bubbles to alert him where the brawl is taking place. There! Bishop's thick white flesh caught his eye. With the lightning wizard's staff Zell conjured a storm, whirling and swirling the staff around in the air. Once gaining enough static from the air, the staff raised the strength of the voltage and struck at the sea where the martial artist's aim directed it.
The flash was like nothing ever seen, large bolts assaulted the water looking like a spider's web laying over the ocean's surface before they disappeared below. The aquatic Esper barely made it out of the way when the lightning hit it's mark. Leviathan wriggled and cried in pain as the bolts latched onto him in the worst way. Dozens of fried fish bobbed to the surface of the water, an octopus, but no Leviathan.
The ticked off serpant spun out of its pained coil and swam smoothly through the many support beams keeping the dish afloat. It seemed to be in search of just the right one that would bring the shipping town to its ruin under the sea. But Bishop charged after it, slamming its tail into its scaled belly, sending it spiraling into the depths of the sea. But the water-snake wasn't down for the count yet. Opening its beaked trap, it pulled in a large suck of water, then shot it out at the whale; the beam-style blast pushed Bishop's large body into a iron support-beam causing the town to shake worse than when Leviathan went after them.
"Fuck... I need to get down there."
Zell looks around for the tackle shop, rushing full speed towards the nearly crumpled shack. He searched the wreckage for any diving equipment on hand, not bothering with a wet suite as he geared up and jumped.
The fishing town was a violent battle field of cadets and monsters going after each other, his team held their own with minor injuries, and the new arrivals took to the fight without need of being told what to do. The teams from Trabia nursed the villagers and the fallen cadets with expert speed and ability. Stacy was joined in evacuting the ten hundred natives of the small town, and any additional visitors who came over during the hot season for vacation and relaxation. So much for that.
A white haired cadet traced the edge of town in search of the submerged commander. He's alone in the nasty fight with the Guardian and could likely use some help. After spotting Zell's earlier actions at the tackle shop, he followed his example and grabbed some gear as well, diving in when seeing an illuminous flash of light. He was never good with medical, prefering Galbadia's way of offense first, heal later. But in this case, he'd act as a healer while Zell fought.
His hearing bubbled to silence as he dove deeper to avoid an attack aimed at Zell, but that he's within the range of. The martial artist looked strange with white hair, and a heavy beard from having merged with the Esper.
'Hyland?' He would have wondered what the creep was doing in Fisherman's but he remembered that he'd been in Dollet earlier. 'Things must have calmed down over there if those cadets have shown up here.'
Creep or not, Zell appreciated being cured right then, because he'd just taken a nasty smack to the head by one of the serpant's monsterous attacks, and even fusion with Ramuh didn't staunch the pain well enough for it not to hurt. But this was no place for the male when he doesn't have an Esper as Zell does. Making slashes before his neck when the cadet gave him a thumbs up that he'd assist him, he has to dodge another oncoming attack.
Hyland tossed his chakrams, the gold chains attached kept them within his grasp, while they swirled and slashed into the monster's tough scaled skin. His eyes widened with the notice of the situation before he's jerked violantly along a wild ride when Leviathan took off with the weapons stuck in his body.
'Oh geez.' Zell threw back his head where he couldn't roll his eyes under water, the feeling would be too strange, and as quickly as he could swim he followed after them. 'I can't attack of the lightning will go right along the chains and shock Hyland too. Think... think...' Spotting the Esper the Esper on the move, he disbands with Ramuh to fuse with Bishop.
It's a strange thing being part whale, with a long flipper coming from the end of his spinal column, and his flesh puffed and blubbered. But the abilities were amazing! He can swim at light speed, and best of all breath under water. He can command all three elements, including Bishop's limit break. He's right on Leviathan's tail and gaining closer to the personification of Hyland being a bit of toilet paper stuck to its foot that he has to save.
Hyland could kick himself over this; his weapons were damned expensive, so he isn't about to lose them to the black depths of the sea. He can hear Zell in his head, by the abilities of Bishop, telling him to let go. But how could he? Unable to speak, he rapidly shook his head.
'Idiot.'
The weapons reached their end slamming into each other, repelled to return. Leviathan cried in pain as the sharp buzz saws came back for round two, in its freshly opened wounds. Hyland stuck his feet out springing himself from the steel beams supporting the town. The serpent was going to have to try better than that if it wanted to shake him off.
'Get along little doggy!' Hyland bounced from beam to beam until his weapons retracted back to him.
Zell quickly caught the male who'd been shot backwards at warp speed. It was like hitting a brick wall to the pain in the butt cadet, with the commander sporting whale strength it knocked the wind right out of him; his mouthpiece is spat from his mouth dangling about his stomach from the attachment to the tank.
Flailing, he stuffs the piece back into his mouth, puffing gulps of air in and out in a panic. He's Galbadian. Swimming, diving, pretty much all things water based are in his blood, but for some reason being under this deep with a renagade GF circling like a damned buzzard has got him on high alert over the possibility of drowning. It's understandable, even forgivable. But you wouldn't think so with how Zell grabbed him by the scruff of his soaked shirt to swim him back to the surface.
Coughing, once the artificial air is removed from his mouth, Hyland smiled sheepishly. "That was pretty close, huh?"
"You jack..." He cut himself off from what he'd wanted to say. "What were you thinking?"
"That you needed support, and you did."
Shaking his head, Zell looked about for a ladder the male could climb back onto shore. "Fuck."
Pushing his position, he replied. "We can stratagize, figure out a way to take it down together."
"No. Go help the other cadets in town, I've got this."
The pair jumped out of their skin when the water behind them bubbled and rumbled; their confusion was answered when out of the water came a submarine, and out of that submarine came an instructor from Balamb peeping from the opening.
Zell recognized him as instructor Sota Minne by his dark wavy hair and the scar across his chin. He deals in arms and explosives; Selphie's got a slight crush on the man having a firm love of all things set to blow.
"We came by air and sea!" He said joyously at the drowned cats. "Anyone need a lift?" Patting the navy colored metal ship, he adds. "She's loaded with missles and ready for action."
"You should go with him, it's safer." Zell instructs the cadet, trying his hardest not to talk through his teeth. He really can't help it. When someone is going on 'Seifer' on his little buddy Kait, how can he not bare a grudge against them? "I've got Bishop, I can handle it."
"I'm not leaving you alone down there, no one will be able to heal you from inside the sub. You need me."
The desperate look in his eyes knocked on the door of the martial artists heart. What the hell was his issue with Kait, that he'd be so into him. And then a light bulb went off. How could he not see it? It's the same thing as Seifer and him. Hyland likes him. What is it with him and jerks, he's like a magnet!
"Look, I realize I'm a babe, but I'm a lot older than you."
Making a face, Hyland shook his head. "What are you talking about? I'm just offering to heal you in battle."
'He sure takes rejection well.' Thinks the commander.
Everyone gasped when Leviathan breeched into the air over the town, bringing with him a reversed waterfall of water. Flipping over, its tale slams into the water so it washed down over the town hitting them all like a oddly shaped water balloon.
Sighing from the aggitation of agreeing to something so dangerous, he nods. "Come on, but stay in the background."
Grinning, he agrees. "Yes sir!" Stuffing the mouth piece back past his lips, he lowers himself under the water.
Shaking his head from disbelief that he could be so stupid, he gives Minne the signal that they're good before submerging himself as well.
Minne went back inside the sub, lowering the massive vehicle into the water, ready to assist.

Irvine followed along with the medical team who're loading his son and father-in-law onto a Tram. Laguna woke up and wanted nothing to do with being wheeled out on a bed, so Irvine offered to push him in a wheel chair.
"I want you to take it easy when you get up there, and don't be runnin' around when you get to Esthar- even if you're feeling better."
"Okay." Huffed the young man in defeat of his own desires.
"Don't worry kiddo," Irvine goes on to say. "the sooner you get the all clear, the sooner you'll be back out there with the rest of cadets. It won't be long."
"Have you ever been injured in battle?"
"A few times. I've been shot and laid up for a couple months. Heh," He laughed faintly. "Hurts like a bitch; almost made me feel an overflow of empathy for everyone I've laid a bullet into. But I've shot at people only a handful of times."
'But you've probably never died.' He swallowed back the memory. Kait can't let tears fall. Not right now. Not when Irvine's being so positive and cheerful while sending him off. Last thing he wanted to do was make one of his father's worry, least of all the one who does so little of the parental worrying.
While the medics team loaded the gurney into the Tram, securing it into the back, Irvine took a moment to lean over and whisper in Laguna's ear. "I think Kait's going through a rough patch about cadet life. Could you maybe try cheering him up a little, if you've got the energy?"
"Hey, look who you're talking to." Whispered Laguna tiredly. He may have a smile on his face, but he can't hide the exhaustion in his eyes. "Maybe I can tell him some stories, nothing scary or worrisome. I've got a million jokes."
Smiling a thank you, he pats Laguna on the shoulder. "How're you holding up?"
"I can say this about that entire situation," Laguna looks over his shoulder, meeting the sharpshooter's eyes. "I'm glad my inner monster is a Giant... I'd be dead otherwise."
Rubbing Laguna's shoulder to offer comfort, he nods that's he's glad for it too. It's enough that Kait is hurt, but to find out that Laguna was killed by his own son and friends would send Squall over the edge. And he'd be pretty fucked up as well, having grown a deep affection for the cheerful man as well.
'Maybe I oughta go with him, keep 'em both company.' He mused. 'No, I've gotta get to the desert to help Squall and Seifer.'
Seeing Laguna into the Tram, he helps the former Galbadian soldier onto the bench before folding up the wheelchair and tucking it away beneath the elevated bench. Waving goodbye, he steps off the aircraft then stands aside while it departed for Esthar.

Hyland was having some hard time keeping up with Zell, but thankfully the commander had to head to the surface now and then to take a breath of air. He can stay under the water, sure, but he still needs to breathe air. He's a whale, afterall, not a fish., and once caught up the two encountered an enraged Leviathan, coiled around a beam and drawing in a suck of water.
The cadet jerked forward into the current, but Zell quickly snatched him steady keeping him in place with himself. Tapping his chest he junctioned ice into attack, aiming them at the beast to give him something a little less human to snack on. Large chunks of ice went hastly down Leviathan's throat, the size of them momentarily clogged up the hole causing it a great deal of discomfort.
When the ice balls came flying back at them, Zell shattered them with Bishop's bubble attack. That gave him an idea. Before putting his plan into motion, he swam to the surface to grab a gulp of air then came back down as quickly as he could to Hyland casting protection spells on him for attacks and magic.
'I'm going in.' He uses the Esper's telepathy to speak to his helper. 'Get inside the submarine, and tell them not to shoot missles anymore.'
Giving a thumbs up, Hyland swam towards their back-up to alert the captain of the ship to Zell's plan.
'Come on boy, suck me in.' He cast Thunder, striking the GF at its torso to aggitate it. And sure enough it began to draw water into its mouth once again. 'Here goes!'
Zell powered forward toward the monster, slipping down in past its pointed lips then down its throat. Spredding his legs one at either side, he slides to a hault halfway down to its gut. Rushing water threatened to send the commander lower, but he held his ground and quickly cast off Bishop once the sucking stopped in order to fuse with Ramuh.
"Whoa!" He panicked when Leviathan's scaley body swayed from a missle hitting him. 'Shit kid, hurry up.'
Hyland climbed into the submarine from an opening in its bottom. The door sealed beneath him once he was inside; the white haired male hurried to the main area of the sub. Out of breath from breathing without the mask, he says through each puff. "Zell says to cease fire."
"Why?" Asked the man incharge, though he gave the two cadets the signal to stop firing.
"I'm not sure exactly, but he might be trying to take Leviathan out from the inside."
Minne seemed skeptical that an idea like that was a smart idea, but he had to trust Zell. He usually has a trick or two he's capable of pulling off from that strange mind of his.
"Captain, we've got trouble." Says a female cadet pointing out the front window.
A hord of Adamantoise are swimming their way, curling into their shells before slamming their weight into the submarine's body one after the other. Everyone onboard swayed as the water tank rumbled beneath them. The cadets at the steer and weapons panel took aim and fired a couple missles at the enemy, the explosion sank a few to the bottom of the sea.
"No, don't!" Minne shouted. "There could be civilians mixed with the monsters. We have to get away from them, even the electric shocks might drown them from being unconcious if they change back."
The sub started away from the attacks. They have to get to the surface.
"What is that?" The male sub-pilot asks when a frightening roar erupts through the deafening ocean.
The five occupants inside the submarine watch through the front window as Leviathan spazzed out before them; a glowing light flashed from its mouth from where Zell is inside electricuting the beast.
"Aa!!" The group bellowed when the bombardment of turtles slams into them once again, pushing the sub forward into the flailing GF.
"Shit! We're taking on water." The captain exclaimed.
"We're doing more than taking on water," Hyland panicked. "We're sinking!"
Everyone yelled as the sub tipped backwards sending them plummeting to the bottom tip of the ship. They had to get over the pain in order to grab the scuba gear to get into, which wasn't easy with the angle they're in. In fact it's downright impossible unless you've got the ability to stick to walls.
It hit him when hearing a rattle at his hip. The chains on his chakrams! If he can hook them on to something, he could climb up there and grab the equipment for everyone. "Sade, take my gear." He removes the tank from his back and hands it to her. "Hit the mark." He pleaded with his aim.
The buzz saw shaped weapon slams into the left wall with as much strength as the cadet could muster, and it riccoched off the walls back and forth in travel up the length of the sinking ship. Any more water and they'll be able to swim to them.
"Fuck yeah." Cheered the male when his weapon latched onto a bar at the end of the ship. Tugging to be sure it's secure, he scaled the wall to the top of the submarine where the equipment compartment is. "Coming down." He called as he removed tanks and mouth pieces.
The tanks were caught at a flinch at the thought of being hit by them, but they were caught. Hyland slid back down into the pile of people and stuffed a new mask into his mouth, putting on another tank. The more water filled the hull the more leveled the ship became, and the deeper they'd sunk.
"Door's jammed. What now?" Asked the male cadet giving up with slamming his shoulder into the door.
Minne began to cast fire spells against wall where the hole was made. If he can burn through the metal they can escape from the hole that's already there. Assisting their captain, Sade cast fire spells in the opposite direction aiming the blast towards the man's.

Laguna huffed out an exasperated sigh over the dry situation in the Tram. He was bringing out all his best material: When does the color blue feel better? When it's green with envy. Knock knock jokes, he told funny stories about things that happened to him on and off duty. And in return got a boy barely in tears from whatever he's thinking about. Slowly switching seat to be closer to the saddened male, he asks.
"What's going on with you, son?"
Turning his head from facing the tall windows, he looks at his grandfather and felt his lip quiver miserable making him feel both embarrassed and more miserable.
"Heeyyy," rubbing the teen's back, he then leaned over and wrapped an arm around him. "It's gonna be okay, Kait. Whatever it is."
"I've failed them." Squeaked his voice before he drew in a moiste suck of air.
Pressing his forehead to his, he asked. "Failed who?"
"Squall and Irvine." He began composing hisself.
"That's ridiculous? How could you of failed them?" He pressed his forehead to the teen's.
"I can't do it anymore, I can't be a soldier or mercenary, and I'm definitely not cut out to be a SeeD."
"Because you got hurt? Kait," Laguna shook his head in dismay. "You can't see yourself as a failure because you realize that you're human."
He blinked puffy eyes at his grandfather, not having to ask that he continue.
"You kids man, you go into battle thinking there's no real chance you could get injured, lose limbs, become blind from a bad hit, or anything simply because you've got magic on your side. Even cheating death has its rules and conditions. It's why you need to revive yourself right away; bodies fray away, and damage gets done when the brain shuts off."
That seemed to resume his tears. "If Vola hadn't come back for me, I would be one of those unlucky people who didn't come back."
"I slipped from a cliff and cracked my head badly enough that I lost my memory, and the woman I love. I regreted it everyday after I remembered, but I noticed that nothing, not even temporary amnesia stopped me from being a soldier. Sometimes it's just in your blood, and sometimes it's not. It's got nothing to do with being afraid, and nothing to do with being invicible."
"So, you think if I just stuck it out this dreadful feeling will just go away?"
"I hope not. If you're not afraid then you're not careful. Simple as that. But it will get easier, going into battle." Rubbing Kait's back, Laguna sucked in a thoughtful breath. "And I'll tell you something, if you're not cut out to be a cadet at any rank... your father's will understand. They've had their moments of being just as nervous and afraid as you."
"But they chose to stay... I don't know if I can." He blinked causing a few tears to spill to the table. "If it weren't for me, then Sorin wouldn't be dea-.." He swallowed the word back down, still not ready to feel it completely.
"I'm sorry about your friend." And he'd meant that. He's lost friends over the years, some in battle, some from age. It never gets any easier no matter which way the ball rolls.
"But if I told them... Do you think they'd understand?"
"I know they will. I've known your father just as long as you have, and from what I can tell he's got a lot of heart- same with Irvine."
Kait nodded to show he understood. But it was more than that. That's the part that he's really afraid to tell them.

Commentary: Sorry this chapter is so short, but I've run out of scene for it. Sorry for any mistakes and I know there's plenty, so thanks for sticking with me. And I don't know what happened, but there's been an outbreak in reading this by at least 40, so thank you very much.
