It Couldn't Be True

"'t y't you ready yet!? Geeze, you're slower than an old woman!"

Squall did his best to shoot his rival, now his temporary roommate, the best glare he could muster up. His head was feeling
better but that whole episode right after he awoke did not help his situation any better. Blue eyes glance quickly at the
annoyed blonde waiting at the doorway, tapping his foot on the white tiled floor. Squall finished buckling his belts and
tossed his SeeD jacket on and took a hesitant step forward with a hand flat on the bed top.

Blurriness attacked his vision and the room seemed to start spinning again, like he was on a whirling ride. He was going to
wait a few moments, having his eyes closed already, hoping the room would just stop playing games with him, when he
felt a hand on his shoulder.

"Squall?"

"Give me a moment." He said just loud enough for the other man to hear, but it seemed that Seifer did not want to give
him a moment.

"Damn it! I'm tired. I carried your twiggy ass already, so lets go!" Seifer moved to the shorter man's side and Squall's eyes
snapped open, automatically narrowing his beautiful, stormy blues and backing away from the intruding man.

"No! Give me a second. The fucking rooms spinning and I'm perfectly capable of walking on my own. I don't need you to
help me." Squall took a deep breath and started forward with Seifer close behind him.

"Ah, Seifer come here." The doctor called when she noticed the two men coming out of the room, ready to leave. The
aggravated blonde walked over and narrowed his eyes at the woman, who suggested in the first place that they should be
roomed together. Yes, he was glad that Squall wasn't with that asshole, but he didn't want to take care of him. Bu~t he was
getting excused from his classes for a week so it wasn't that bad of a deal if he thought about it.

"What is it?" Kadowaki pulled from on top of her desk a small bag that held two different types of pills.

"He is to take one of each every four hours. One is for his pain and the other is for him to get the proper rest that he needs.
Seifer," She stressed, "He is not to do any strenuous work. He is not to lift any heavy object, do any chores, or do much
walking around. And not, definitely NO training! If he so happens to even touch his weapon, you call me and I will be up
there to make sure that he cannot move for the next few hours. Also, take a wheelchair. It's too much walking for him and
I'm sure that he's dizzy right now. It's a common symptom with an injury like the one he has endured."

"I'm fine. You're worrying too much doctor. I feel fine and able to walk. Let's just go." Squall huffed as he leaned against
the door frame to the office. Seifer just glanced to and from the doctor to the man that he must take care of for a whole
week.

"All right Squall." She leaned closer to Seifer. "And I mean nothing strenuous! Keep a very close eye on him when he's
walking. If he needs help, help him and I mean it Seifer. You better take care of him and be nice!"

Seifer waved her off.

"Geeze! All right already. I got it." Seifer walked towards the waiting brunette and noticed the boy was leaning heavily on
the wall. Squall took in a deep breath before pushing himself off and walking out. Seifer was close behind him.

As they slowly made their way to the elevator, Seifer was noticing many students staring at them both, probably
wondering what was going on and why weren't they fighting or something. Guess it was normal for them to argue and
abnormal for them to just walk side by side...actually, he was a step behind Squall so he could keep an eye on him better,
get to him faster if he happened to stumble.

His steps were slow and well placed and to Seifer, they would have been to the room by now if he would have just let him
carry him but he could see that with all the stud sta staring, they would start spreading rumors and he was sure Squall did
not want any of that started. Eh, they were bound to spread something sooner or later when they found Seifer going in and
out of his rival's room and not attending any classes. But he-

Seifer's hand jerked up quickly to hold on to Squall's bicep as Squall stumbled slightly. He made sure that Squall had his
ground before letting go, but that took a minute as it seemed the said brunette was resting for a moment. Seifer walked a
little closer to him and when they finally made it to the elevator, Squall rushed to the wall and leaned up against it for all
the support he could get.

"You okay? You almost took a fall back there." Seifer grinned at his weakened counterpart.

"Fine." The usual voice that was always strong in one way or another was low and stressed, probably without Squall even
noticing.

As the elevator announced its arrival, Seifer walked up to Squall and grabbed his arm, pulling it over his shoulder and
hoisting most of the smaller man's weight on to himself and pulled him into the elevator. The brunette was shocked for a
moment before he realized what was happening and started to object, trying to get away.

"Damn it Squall, just let me help you to the room so we can get there faster! You'll be able to go to bed once you get there
and you don't have to see me for a while, okay?" With Squall's arm still over his shoulder, Seifer moved to push the button
for the right floor and waited, then seconds later, Seifer was noticing how close Squall was to him, feeling the lithe body
pressed against his side, noticing the shallow breathing from him too.

Seifer pushed him mind away from those thoughts as he concentrated on what the other man could be feeling.

"Are you still dizzy?" Squall's eyes looked into his for a moment before darting down to the floor almost like he was
contemplating on whether he was going to answer or not.

"A bit..yea." Squall finally gave into Seifer insistence on his condition.

"Well, class is starting so there probably aren't many people near the dorms so barley anyone will see us like this okay?"
Seifer said a little annoyed looking down into Squall's semi pained expressions and seeing a small acknowledging nod.
"Good."

The elevator door "dinged" and the doors swished open to have the hall before them empty and without a person in sight.
Seifer glanced down, a look on his face that said, "I told you so" but Squall paid no heed.

Knowing extremely well where Squall's room was, Seifer started in that direction, immediately taking a left out of the
elevator and slowly pulling Squall along but definitely moving faster than Squall would be if he were to walk alone.

Once arriving to the dazed man's room, Seifer waited patiently as Squall keyed in his code, also remembering it for later
use. Squall just might get the nerve to try to lock him out of the room and plus he needed to stay in bed, and surely
Kadowaki would start screaming at him if she ever happened to come by and he was pounding on the door for Squall to
open.

They walked into the room, making sure the door closed and Seifer led Squall into the apartment.

Seifer looked into the living room that they walked into and off to the right, about ten feet was the kitchen area and to the
left were two rooms, one he guessed, was the bathroom and the other was the bedroom. It was just the fact that his
apartment was just so much bigger than his. He was a top SeeD too, but he guessed that it just did not matter as he was the
evil one, and Squall was the hero of the world. Squall took a step forward, causing Seifer to jump out of his thoughts and
follow suit to the other man's motion.

Seifer nodded and helped Squall into the room, having his eyes fall upon the large, very comfortable looking bed, covered
in black sheets in the middle of the room. The bed was to his right and on the further right wall was a wooden dresser, very
nicely kept and several objects on the on top of it. As he help Squall to the bed, he noticed a door leading to the bathroom,
sliding doors for his closet, another dresser that looked very similar to the other and two side by side windows on the wall
in front of them, covered in beautiful black curtains.

Depositing his load on the bed Seifer turned on the light, as the room was very dark and only light that he could see by was
because of the open door.

"I see why you're so pale and white-skinned, it's like you're a vampire, living in this dark room." Seifer did not expect a
response and was not let down when there was none either. He sat there and watched the gunblader hold his hand on his
head and held his eyes closed for a moment. Seifer then left the room, heading toward the kitchen so he could give him his
pills.

Let's see. It's almost one o'clock so he could take them now and then next time would be at five. Now where are the
cups…" Seifer opened a random cabinet and encountered some canned foods and … he closed the door. There was nothing
in there that he was looking for. He opened up the next, which was by the sink and hit his mark as he found some mugs,
glasses, plastic and glass, and several plates. He grabbed a grey plastic cup and proceeded to get water from the frig. Out
of curiosity, he opened it up to find the refrigerator almost empty. There was some bread, eggs, milk, old lettuce,
something in a can, a container that had a mysterious surprise, something that he was not too keen on finding out what that
was. A frown appeared on the handsome man's face.

No wonder he's so damn thin! He has nothin' in his frig to eat. He would have to change that; Go shopping for some kind
of edible food. He wasn't the master chef but he learned a few dishes that were good. He was going to have to learn sooner
or later, if he wanted to survive and stay fit.

Seifer walked back into Squall's bedroom and saw the man lying down on his bed with his arm thrown over his eyes.
Probably wanted to sleep, Seifer thought.

"Squall, here's your water and take these pills and you better do as I say! I hate to sound like a nagging mother." Squall
was already pushing himself up to grab the contents out of Seifer's hand and smirked.

"You already do." With that short respond that managed to get under the other man's skin, he popped the pills into his
mouth and down them, hoping to feel a lot better than this shitty state he was currently in.

"Damn it, Leonhart! You're impossible. Get your ass comfortable because you're going to be spending a lot of time in this
room. You got that?" He stared down at Squall and Squall looked up to acknowledge Seifer.

"You don't have to stay. I'll tell Kadowaki that you were here. I'll do everything myself and you can stay in your dorm and
not go to class. I know you don't want to do this for me. Just go and relieve yourself of the hassle." Squall thought that his
rival would jump up at the offer but was proven wrong and was surprised by it.

"Ahh, to not do anything, no class and just lounge around in my room, that would be awesome but I have a job to do and I
would be so bored without picking some kind of fight with you, even if it's not physical, I still like you around and I don't
want you to go kill yourself trying to do something, okay? Just call me if you need me. I'll be in the living room and will
tell you when I leave to go get my things. Sleep, okay?" With that, the blonde left. Squall was, indeed, very surprised but
he slowly took off his uniform and wiggled into a pair of shorts and slowly crawled into bed.

Maybe I should have someone else take care of me…like Zell… The brunette made a face. Zell was too much
hyper-activity, too much to handle and probably not a good choice. That would also exclude Selphie, who would no doubt
get bored and bring over a certain insatiable, cowboy, who would have the Garden Festival's President wiggling beneath
him.

Hmm, those are definitely not good choices. Rinoa? No. Even thought they were together at one point, they found that
their temporary, lover's relationship was only something to console them during the war. She was a beautiful, smart,
fun-loving girl, but she wanted things from him that he could not give her and that was only some of the problems that
broke their relationship. He felt like she was more of a sister than anything else and he did love her. How could he not?
But he just couldn't be that one person for her and the same fact went with her. She found out what he was like and
enjoyed trying to break him out of his shell; The mysterious man who never talked and always kept to himself. It was quite
the challenge but when she found out what he was like truly and that he could not give her all that affection and loving that
she really wanted, she stilled cared for him but knew it was a relationship that was not be continued on. I guess there isn't
many people who I could really turn to…Quistis is an instructor so she has no time and well…there just isn't anyone else.

With those thoughts of no one else to help him, he just shrugged his shoulders, tossing the issue away from him and went
to bed.
