The Start of a Reunion
Note: I dunno why but I think everyone ignores Hojo. He's kind of the reason why everyone in the game is screwed-up but no one thinks to kill him til the end. I felt he needs some more screentime...
The black-haired man appeared again. Cloud could see him laughing as his arm snaked around Cloud’s waist and he quickly kissed Cloud. Cloud was actually happy; he seemed to like him and trust him because Cloud in turn leaned into the man and kissed him on the neck. “Cloud, I promise I’ll never let you leave my side, ever,” the man stroked Cloud’s hair. Cloud could feel the man’s breath touch his hair… “Can you really promise me that?” Cloud looked up at the man’s face and he was gone.
“No…” Cloud tossed the sheets off of his body and found the boy called Denzel looking at him curiously.
“Did you have a nightmare?” asked Denzel.
“I don’t know. I think I dreamed about someone I know, someone important to me.”
“Really? That’s good, I could help you find him!” Denzel was happy he found an interesting stranger he’d been bored and wanted to go on another quest. He usually just spent his days trying to figure out how to sneak onto the upper plate and looking for his renegade cat, Mog. “I know the slums like the back of my hand! What’s his name?”
“I have no clue. I don’t even know what he looks like…I think he had long hair and something to do with SOLDIER…”
“SOLDIER?! Wow! That’s so cool. He must be really strong… We would have to go to the upper plate barracks to find any SOLDIERs.” Cloud stared at the excited boy. He should really tell this kid to just stay put, but Cloud knew he probably wouldn’t listen.

“Lore, come here.”
There it was again… Once you became Hojo’s he made sure that you were completely attentive to him at all times, even at 4 in the morning. The former Shinra cadet, Lore, got out of his cot and walked across the cold lab floor to his master.
“Oh? Did I wake you, my dear? I’m very sorry,” Lore thought he didn’t look very sorry, maybe because that annoying grin was growing again on Hojo’s face. Lore immediately frowned knowing something had to be bad to make the scientist happy. “I love that sorrowful face, it enhances your true beauty. I knew someone a while ago who looked very much like you…”
Lore wondered who else had long, black straight hair and such pale skin. Lore had often thought his face looked to feminine and he absolutely hated it, thus the long hair. Hojo made him bring his hair out of his eyes because he claimed that it was dangerous in a lab but when Lore offered to simply cut his hair short Hojo stopped him. Sometimes Lore felt the scientist just wanted him around for his viewing pleasure, the man was extremely sick and used all his pent up lust on his experiments and anyone else unlucky enough to be in the lab. “What did you want me for, Professor?”
“Come closer and tell me what you see under this microscope,” Hojo placed his assistant on his lap and pulled the microscope to Lore’s eye.
“Wow… They’re glowing and moving around strangely. What is this?” Lore decided to ignore the fact the professor’s hand was stroking his hair. “They are Jenova cells…And they seem to be very active, don’t they? I wonder if this means…”
Lore hated how the professor trailed off whenever he said something Lore actually wanted to hear. “Professor?”
“What is it, my dear?” Like he didn’t know what Lore wanted! He woke him up at 4 to tease him by showing him something important and not saying anything?! Lore could feel a bit of anger well up in him as the professor continued stroking his hair.
“Ah, are you alright? You look a little aggravated, my dear. Perhaps you should retire,” Hojo placed a kiss on Lore’s cheek as Lore cringed. On second thought he wasn’t so curious… There’s no telling what the professor might do to him if he wanted to know anything.
“Good night then, Professor,” Lore got up and started to walk back to his “room” (a cell) when Hojo decided to speak again, “Oh, I almost forgot. I got you a present.” Hojo revealed a lab coat.
“Thank you, Professor,” Lore stepped closer to the professor and took the coat, a symbol that he was now officially stuck as Hojo’s assistant.

“Ok. I got everything we need for our journey, Cloud!” Denzel had a giant backpack the size of him on his back and looked like he was broiling over with anticipation.
“Look, um… Denzel, won’t anyone be worried about you? This will probably be dangerous and…”
“Cloud!” The boy screamed as the blonde clutched his head and fell to the ground.
“I’ll go get help! Don’t die!” Cloud could see the boy run into the distance as his head grew heavier….
There was complete darkness all around him.
“Cloud…”
The voice had come back again! Finally he could get some answers; like why a disembodied voice was the only one who knew him.
“Are you him? Are you who I dream about? Are you the one who saved me?” What? That wasn’t what Cloud wanted to ask. He wanted to know what the hell was going on.
“Him? There is no one else. You belong to me although you may not know it.”
“Show yourself! If you’re so important how come I have no clue who you are!” What did this guy think he was? Cloud knew for one thing that he definitely didn’t belong to anyone.
“Hmm…So impatient. Shouldn’t you be nicer to the only one who can provide you with everything? I want you to be a good boy and stay in Midgar, I’ll be there, my little Nibelheim bumpkin.”
The darkness around Cloud grew heavy as if it had body to it. It gently caressed Cloud’s face and then left him alone once again. For some reason Cloud was crying.
