Rikku sat up groggily. Where am I? What happened? She started to panic, she couldn't remember a thing! She was in a bed somewhere, and she heard the crack of lightening and then it came flooding back to her. They were in the Thunder Plains and she had passed out. She heard her door open and turned to see Yuna. Yuna breathed a sign of relief, "Thank Yevon you're all right. I was so worried about you. We all were." Yuna made her way to the bed and wrapped her arms around her cousin. "I'm fine Yuna, really. I'll be ready to continue in the morning." Yuna nodded but made no move to leave. She looked like she wanted to say something, and Rikku didn't like where the conversation was about to go...
"Rikku," Yuna began, "You know that I love you, no matter what, right?" Rikku looked up at her older cousin and nodded. "I know Yunie, and I love you too." Yuna smiled. "I see the way you watch him, Rikku, we all do. Well, all of us but him. He's too near-sighted to notice anything. I just want to be careful, okay? I'm just so terrified of all the things that could go wrong with this, I just want you to be safe. Okay hun?" Rikku nodded. She knew Yuna just cared about her and her well-being. Well, she was way more tactiful than Tidus was.. She smiled. "Don't worry Yuna. He doesn't notice me and he probably never will. Just some silly little girl crush." She wrapped her arms around Yuna and hugged her. "Thank you." Yuna nodded, then got up and left. Rikku laid back on the bed and thought about what she just said. Was it just some silly girl crush? No, it feels too strong to be just that. She stared at the ceiling, counting all the cracks. She was only fifteen, maybe she didn't know any better. But then again, that isn't too young. People get married at my age because of Sin. She got up and mixed herself a sleeping potion because she just didn't want to deal with all of these thoughts in her head. The next morning Rikku got up and got ready. She put on her green shorts and orange shirt. Next she picked up her goggles. They belonged to her father and were very dear to her. She placed them around her neck, thinking of her family and Home. She fasted her pouch around her waist then grabbed her weapons and armor. She stopped to look in front of the mirror to fix her hair. Looking at her reflection, she stared at her green spiral eyes. They were beatiful, but truly dangerous. Everyone knew she was an Al Bhed, except for Wakka. It was only a matter of time before he looked her in the eyes of someone has a slip of the tongue. She would hate for him to get mad at everyone because of her. She walked away from the mirror and to the lobby where everyone was waiting. She cheefully told them it was time to "get moving!" Once outside, her fears came back. But she did her best to keep them subdued. She wanted to prove to Auron she was strong and that she could handle this storm. I'm not scared! After an hour or so of walking through the thunder, rain, and fiends, they finally reached a forest. She skipped ahead, "I wonder where we are..." Auron was the one to answer. "We're entering Macalania Forest. It's a maze so try not to get lost." The group continued to make their way forward. "There's a spring up ahead where we can rest." After making there way there, Rikku collapsed on the ground. She rolled over, smelling the dirt and the nature. She could feel the magic of the place pulsing around her, embracing her. She closed her eyes and sighed, truly happy in this moment. Someone sat down beside her, but she didn't open her eyes to see who. "You can feel it too," he stated. Rikku nodded, but kept her eyes closed. She was afraid to look at him. "I can feel it in the air. There's a great magic resting here," Rikku added. Auron didn't reply. She finally opened one of her eyes to sneak a peek and found he was staring at her. She sat up, startled. "You confuse me Rikku." Auron chuckled. "You act like a child, but sometimes you're smarter than most adults." Rikku contemplated this. "I suppose it's because I'm a child that I see what others can't. I still have my innocence." Auron nodded, "The mind of a child is a wonderful thing." The two of them sat in silence until Rikku got the urge to talk a walk. She stood, and walked away, leaving a confused Auron behind her. He decided to follow her to see where she was going, but stayed far enough behind so she wouldn't see. Rikku walked on. She had no idea where she was going, but her feet did. Something was guiding her, leading her on. She complied. She made her way to a small river, and took her clothes off. Why she did that, she had no idea. Auron shielded his eyes, not wanting to glimpse at what he could not have. She made her way into the river until she was waist deep. Auron watched her. She looked like a goddess, standing there in the moonlight. She was beautiful. Rikku closed her eyes, letting the calm feeling overtake her. Suddenly, she was filled with a tingly feeling. She looked at her hands and saw they were glowing! Her whole body was glowing! She paniced, unsure of what was going on. Auron made to run to her, but something stopped him. The forest was behind this. Auron watched helplessly as Rikku began to glow brighter and brighter, until the light blinded him. Then suddenly, it stopped. Rikku made her way back to shore, putting her clothes on. That was sure weird. But she didn't feel any different. She knew the magic was behind it, but was too tired to give it much thought. She made her way back to camp and collapsed on her mat. She passed out from exhaustion, unaware that Auron had witnessed the whole event. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
