"Good morning, just thought you needed a wake up call." The man that had his head at my neck pulled back smirking. His bright blue eyes staring down at me heating my body.
"Zack? But when did you get in here?" He smiled widely before leaning down to press a kiss on my lips massaging them with his own. I raised my hand to try to tame them but it was no use, my blonde hair just loved to defy gravity. I finished up and quickly made my way down the hallway with Kaiden to get to training on time. Me and Kade were sparring, kicking and striking each other but careful not to hurt each other severely. He lunged closer to me to try to kick my waist but I stepped to the side and punched him in the chest winding him. He let out a small oomf as he staggered back slightly.
"Strife! Your form is poor do something about it." The sergeant boomed from across the room. I rolled my eyes he only had it out for me because I was the shortest and yet I was doing the best, well second to Nikolas but that won't last long. I was going to make sure of that. We went back to sparring with each other until I felt someone staring at me I looked around curiously - this being my first mistake. Kade brought a heavy punch to my jaw I jolted away rubbing the very likely bruise that was left. I glared at Kade feeling the pain jolt in little spurts up my face. That would definitely leave a mark.
"Sorry man, didn't mean to hit you that hard." He placed an apologetic hand on my slender shoulder. I nodded getting back into my fighting stance, ignoring the minor pain in my jaw. I smiled at kade letting him know I was so going to get him back for it. Just when we were about to start the sergeant demanded,
"Everyone listen up and get in line!" Everyone did as they were told not wanting to be under the wrath of the very large sergeant. His muscles rippled out from his black shirt treating to rip it. He didn't need to raise his voice to be known, his intimidating presence was all he needed. "You're going to be assigned new partners. These will be the partners you will have for the rest of your training." My stomach churned. I had a bad feeling about this. He began calling off names from the folder that he was holding in his huge hands. I froze when he called out my name. "Strife you're with Bolton." Fuck. It just had to be that fucking ass hole. I gritted my teeth as Nikolas strode over leaning down so that his face was only inches from mine. I stood my ground no way was I going to be made the coward in all of this and no way was I going to lose to him. I stared back into his icy blue eyes daring him to say something.
"Don't cry when you lose, after all it's inevitable." He smirked as he noticed my aggravated expression. I was going to kill this bastard. He knew exactly how to get under my skin. We resumed our fighting positions and began to charge at one another, Nikolas was fast but not as fast as me. I dodged his kick, landing to his side he whipped his head up in my direction a fist hurdling towards my face. But when I felt the impact my arm had taken most of the damage as I raised it to block his attack. I ducked quickly under his fist that he was throwing not waiting a second to attack me again. As I ducked I swiped my leg across the wooden floor knocking him back forcing him down on the ground. I stood over him my first triumphant win against the oh so great and handsome Nikolas Bolton. Usually Nikolas would have gotten so angry that his blood boiled like it did in the arena yesterday but instead he rose from his feet, a small smirk appearing on his lips. Brushing off the invisible dirt from his shoulder he began,
"Nice. But don't expect me to go easy on you anymore kid." He winked as he began to turn walking to the other end of the room, he grabbed his water gulping it down before returning. I couldn't help but feel the slight blush appearing on my cheeks. He wiped the dribble of water from his chin with the back of his hand, his eyes staring into mine. His short brown hair hung slightly damp over his eyes. God dammit why did he have to be so handsome with such a crappy personality... it was such a waste. As he turned to place his water down behind him I couldn't stop myself from looking at his behind. It wasn't too big, more peachy and before I knew it I was thinking of lewd things. I shook myself, what is wrong with me? As he turned back he narrowed his eyes. Did he notice my red cheeks? Could he tell what I was thinking? He began to stalk his way over to me but I couldn't move, I was frozen to the spot. When he was nearing me we were interrupted by the sergeant excusing us for lunch, by excuse I meant he practically shouted for us to all get out and scram. I thanked Shiva that I can now leave Nikolas but then I remembered that we were going to be partners for the rest of training. I was going to hate this.
I met up with Kade at the doorway breathless but as I turned I saw something strange. I saw Nikolas without his usual cocky smile. Instead he sat down with his back leaning against the wall, his head hanging in his hands. Very strange. I've never seen him so... depressed? Anxious? Angry? I didn't know what it was but I didn't exactly want to find out either.
"Ready for lunch buddy?" I nodded turning back to Kaiden replying quickly,
"Hell yes." I wiped the beading sweat from my brow before walking to the canteen with Kaiden.

I was making my way down the dimly lit corridor, slowly walking back to the dorm. I left Kade behind in the canteen when his other friends started to come over, I don't have a problem them just so long as they stayed away from me, they were too bitchy for my liking. I turned the corner but I suddenly felt myself smack into a hard body and fall to the floor. My lower back nearly bouncing off the floor with the force of the impact. I looked up in a daze to see Zack standing above me. The real Zack.
Oh god.
This. Is. Not. Happening.
"Hey, be more careful Cloud." He laughed under his breath as he held out a gloved hand to me. I ignored the gesture and got up by myself pulling my top back down to stop him from seeing what I told nobody about. I never would tell anybody about them. I planned on just running away right at that moment but something caught me off guard.
"You know my name?" I asked surprised that he would know such a thing. He nodded after a long pause.
"Yeah you were the one fighting in the arena when I was looking at the new recruits to see how many would make it into soldier." My eyes widened. That was a test match for soldier? I had no idea. He noticed the look on my face and added hastily, "Shit. I wasn't supposed to say that. Don't worry it's not the official trials for soldier." He slapped a hand on my back as he laughed at my over reaction, he ended up taking my breath from me for a second with the force. That hand was touching me again. Oh dear lord. Don't think, just don't think about it. I tried to suppress my mental images,not really working. I noticed his eyes narrowed as he stared intently at my face.
"What?" I asked quietly trying to not let my voice shake.
"Who did this?" He lifted his hand to gently caress my jaw, when he touched my jaw I jumped as the pain jolted along my jawline and spread causing my face to scrunch up.
"That's just what happened in training. I'm fine." I managed to get out quickly from my constricting throat. His mako eyes stared into my blue as he dropped his hand to squeeze my shoulder tightly. I gulped. He was just too handsome for words.
"You are not fine. Come with me." He demanded grabbing ahold of my upper arm, dragging me down the hallway in the opposite direction of my room and the nurse's office. My heart began to beat in my ears, I really hoped he couldn't hear it. Where the hell was he taking me?
