The light faded
around Vaan’s closed eyes, and opened them slowly blinking, his head throbbing, looking around,
then suddenly awake, at the sight of Rex lying unconscious next to him. He ran
to him shaking, him.
“Rex…wakes up!” There was a groan from Rex as he turned his
head to look up a Vaan, a look of relief on his face, and steadily got up,
groaning at the stiffness in his body.
“Ur…what…happened? The man said…it wouldn’t do anything.”
Rex stood up, as did Vaan, and picked up the stone from the ground, next to the
crystal, and touched it to the surface. Nothing.
“Looks like, our only way back is…gone!” Rex sighed, and
looked at Vaan, but then took in there surroundings. Mist sifted all around
them a show of multi coloured glory, it twisted around the trees, the emerald
path way, the giant archway, and the sealed door.
“Hey what about the door?” Rex ran towards it and pushed,
Vaan joining in yet nothing happen, but then an inscription appeared
Only ye whom holdest gigest’s might shall the way open.
Rex stared at it worry over his face.
“Well, let’s look
around shall we? And just when I’m joining the army.” He turned towards the
other great arch way that stood looming ahead of them, and noticed Vaan walking
towards it slowly.
“Don’t you see it Rex?” Rex scratched his head, quirking an
eyebrow, and ran to his brother’s side as he walked, past the teleport crystal,
and toward the arch.
In front of Vaan the
black formless shape moved backwards urging him forwards.
“Come, we await thee.” Then fell silent, but did not
disappear, just lead him onwards.
“Hey I don’t see anything…wait up.” Rex just walked beside
Vaan, as they passed the arch, and into an open area, an ocean of water scretching
into the distance, with what appeared to be a city on the far shore.
“Whoa. Where the hell are we?” Rex’s eyes wide, then stepped
in front of Vaan, as they saw a giant pair of white statures, to hulking
beings, with swords kneeling beside a shining pedestal.
“Rex…I think this is the only way to, you know find a way
home right?” Rex looked at him for a second.
“Yeah…your right, beside Sir Basch want to see me, you know
about the army.” Vaan look up at his brother for a second, then back to the
glowing pedestal and the city beyond the waters.
“Yeah…but if you do, get in…just promise me come back, ok?”
Rex ruffled his hair then.
“Sure thi…” But he was cut short when Vaan touched the
Pedestal, a seal appearing around them, he quickly held his hand as they were
teleported.
When Rex opened his
eyes his mouth opened, they where in a chamber that looked like it could fit
the whole of Rabbinate in it, then he looked down to the many layer leading
down, his eyes wide with awe.
“ Rex…I think this is that, city we saw.” Rex just nodded,
mouth still open.
“Yeah…lets keep moving, ok.” Vaan just walked in front of
Rex following the blackness.
After what seemed like hours, with nothing but
the sound of shoes echoing on cold the shiny floors and ramps of the chamber,
they stopped at a dead end. Rex held out a hand.
“So this is the end of the line right bro?” Vaan frowned, at
what he saw a shinning stairway downs, paved with green circles, and ancient
patterns.
“I don’t know?” Vaan pulled out the teleport stone, which he
had put in his pocket, and threw it down wards, but instead of doing so, the
walk way made it’s self visible, then the blackness went down, Vaan in toe,
with a still wide eyed Rex in toe, who picked up the stone again, pocketing it.
“Bloody hell! Hey wait up!” He followed him, then at the
bottom they stopped looking at a giant crystal shining, both eyes were shocked.
“You still got it?” Vaan said turning to Rex who just threw
it, making yet another walkway, this time to another small pedestal, which they
walked to. Rex looked at it, rubbing his chin, then heard a huffing noise of
something, looking around into the distance from when they came, just as Vaan
was whisked away again, a monster lunged at him, the moment the seal was gone.
“Holy Fuck! A monster?
I’m getting outta here” He placed his hand on the way stone and was gone.
“Rex, hey Rex.” Vaan
cried out, and then he appeared behind him. “There you are.” Rex panted and
just held his wrist, and dragged him to an axe-like door which swung aside, yet
he didn’t care, and onwards threw a circular room, flowing with mist, and threw
another then stopped.
“Rex, stop, your holding on to tight!” Rex’s stern face
looked at him then, then softened, and hugged him then.
“Sorry little brother, just wanna…get out of here, that’s
all, ok.” Vaan pulled away and nodded and they walked down the steps, to the
bright blue pedestal.
“Well this is different, Rex, perhaps it’ll take us home.”
He looked at Rex who smile and place his hand with Vaan’s on the glowing way
stone, and again a seal came, instead of multi coloured light a bright blue
light enveloped them. Vaan shut his eyes.
When Vaan opened his eyes
he saw his brother lying on the ground like earlier, and ran to him shaking
him, yet he stayed still, and then that’s when he looked around.
He found himself standing
on a bright blue circular platform, in an ocean of clouds and other platforms,
a sun shone over head, then he noticed six places around him. Five had ornate
statues that he couldn’t describe, while the sixth, nothing was there.
“Where are we?” Vaan’s voice said in a mix of fear and awe.
Then a voice spoke. One yet many, many yet one distorted yet whole.
“Fear not hume child, for we Occuria have been chosen you.” Then
Vaan looked at one of the statues, then silver whispers gathered, then the
blackness gathered joined by two yellow eyes appeared, then finally the silver
intertwining marking appeared revealing the solid form of the Occurian Gerun.
Vaan fell speechless eyes wide with fear and awe.
“…..” Gerun lowed himself slightly.
“In times long passed away we thought to save this Ivalice so
we choose dynast-king, and thus divided become whole. That time have past, now herectic hast doth set Dynast-kings power in the hands of
man. Undying we Occuria light the path
for wayard sons of man, Oft
did we pass judgement on them so Ivalice might endure.”
Vaan looked around as
the other four appeared.
“Doth him cometh. Venat’s end!
“Our coming!”
“Ivalice’s path and light!”
Vaan turned to them all them back to Gerun, then to Rex.
Then Gerun spoke once more.
“ Eternal we are history ‘s
stewards, to set the course and keep it true.”
“The chossen is our hand our fist, to let live some and
crush the rest.” One other spoke then
“You are beyond chossen. You are blessed by undying. Behold
your birthright!” Gerun’s eyes glowed as did the others.
Then a statue formed
in the vacant space of the sixth pedestal. The Vaan’s eyes grew wide. His eyes
turning to void-less yellow, glowing
slightly, mist surrounded him, silver marking appeared as his clothing dissolved,
from his fingers, to his elbows it appeared, around his neck it crept encasing
his sides, leaving his chest and navel
bare, then all the way down to his toes, clothing him, yet his face stayed the
same. His hair growing slightly then looked at his hands and body in awe. Yet
he was still himself.
“Now we grant thee thy protection, thy weapon. Ultima,
heathen, heretic, blasphemer, traitor and betrayer, shall serve thee from now
unto eternity.” Then Ultima appeared before Vaan, eye’s shut a smile on her face
her whispers echoing all around, then her scion sign appeared within it’s
gemstone and shattered, then pact between her and Vaan made final, un-breaking.
Vaan fell to the
ground unconscious, his normal clothing returned, then a flash of silver and mist
he and Rex were gone, returned to Rabanstre. Gerun
looked at the spot where there newest equal had once been, then he spoke.
“Now we act. Now we shall be known. Soon doth dynast-king’s
line will come, and the treaty of kings of old will be, set anew, and will
carve history’s flow.” at that they faded.
On the east side of the desert capital, Rex and Vaan awoke,
beside the crystal. Rex having flickers of it all, as if in a dream. Vaan
dazed, and yet eyes wide open to the world for the first time, and yet it all
felt like a dream, yet the faint whispers of a female voice echoed in his mind.
Yet soon war shall come.
Well how did you like it people?
