Part: Three


Many thoughts raced through Vincent’s mind as he walked through the fields surrounding their new home just outside of Edge. The moon cast a soft glow across everything it laid its touch onto. After Vincent had spoken with the man that’s brother was killed by Shera, he soon picked up a sloppy trail heading toward the hills behind Kalm. Mind set he ran with urgency and his resolve never wavering in the hours it took before the trail that he had been following to begin to look fresh. His heart jumped at the thought of finding Cid but deep in his mind a voice whispered his lover’s destruction. If anything happen to Cid not only would he hold Shera accountable but himself as well. He would punish anyone who harmed the pilot. Mako crimson eyes searched desperately for any sign of his love and finally for once in his life found what he was looking for. There was Cid standing on the edge of the cliff looking up into the star filled sky. The wind blew through his long shiny blonde hair that now reached down to his lower back. Moonlight kissed his hair making it a brilliant platinum blonde. Relief flooded every part of his body as he began to make his way to the aviator, Only a few steps into his trek did he stop in fear pulling Death Penalty from its holster he aim expertly for the figure making its way up behind Cid. The figure lunged forward and Cid jumped into the line of aim. Cursing under his breath Vincent could hear Chaos struggling to get out and he looked up to the two figures go tumbling off the cliff. Wings burst forth from the gunner as control left him.


Cid was standing peacefully at the edge of the cliff looking up at the beautiful night sky. He really didn’t know what to do now that Vincent hated him. Azure eyes turned to the ground in shame, everything was wrong. Everything from the beginning had been screwed up. If only he had been able to find Vincent under a different circumstance. Maybe then he could have seen him the way it should be, strong not the sad excuse he was now. Cid sighed heavily as he felt eyes upon him. Knowing instantly that it was his angry lover, he smiled and watched as Vincent raised his gun. Cid could feel the other behind him now. Deciding to do things his way he stepped into the line of fire as Shera made her move. Her blade missed his chest and stabbed through his side as he latched onto her wrists trying to wrestle her to the ground. Only seconds later did he realize their was no ground and he silently apologized to his lover. A single tear fell and was swept into the night by his crimson protector as a mixture of Vincent and Chaos caught the man they loved. Cid’s stared shocked at the demon and to his surprise the demon stared back at him with looked like relief in its eyes.
“Do not be surprised beloved. We had to do what was necessary to save you. I know it must seem strange to you but my host is not the only one who cares for you. This is not the first time I have raise my claw in your defense.” The voice belonged to Vincent but had a deep growl to it too. Cid closed his eyes and buried his face into his lover’s chest.
“I know what you did to her before. She told me and I thank you.” Chaos-Vincent landed softy on the ground setting Cid down gently and immediately began to check his wound. Blood had already seeped into the red cloak and the man demon leaned down close to the puncture.
“Brace yourself this is going to be excruciating.” Even the warning could not prepare the pilot for the pain that followed and was horrified by the fact that the demon was licking his wound. Chaos continued his ministrations for several minutes as Cid gasped in pain. As the demon raised its head Cid grabbed its arm and Chaos laid his claw over his human’s.
“Don’t worry, I healed the wound you will only have a scar.” Cid nodded and began to speak.
“What of Shera?” The demon sniffed the air.
“The woman is still alive but wounded. Stay here and I will enjoy devouring her. Chaos stood and Cid grabbed the claw.
“ No I want Vincent now.” Chaos relinquished his hold to the gunner.
“Cid.” The pilot gave him a planet shattering smile.
“I love you and your demon. The ones that protect me without asking nothing in return and expect nothing. I stepped into your line of fire on purpose to save her. I didn’t want you to kill her. So I’m going to take one more thing from you. Her death will be at my hands. This started with me and will end by me. Vincent leaned down and kissed Cid passionately.
“It’s what I want most from you.”
