“Guys,” Hope exhaled heavily. “I cannot go with you. I have a life…here.”
“C’mon, kid. Just a weekend. What’s a few more days?” Snow asked with a hopeful grin.
Hope turned to Lightning hoping she’d back him but she put her hands up and stayed silent.
“Fine. I’ll go but I will have to come a day later. I have an important meeting I cannot put off any longer. Tomorrow. I’ll have Luke drive with me after.” He shook his head at how easily he gave in.
“Awesome!” Snow yelled. “Are you all packed ladies?” He asked.
“Yeah.” Lightning replied as she headed to the door.
“See you in a couple days?” Hope quietly asked Vanille.
“You bet.” She replied, kissing him. He was surprised since Lightning and Snow were watching them but he soon got over it. “Don’t be late.” She said softly.
“I won’t.” He smiled.
The three headed toward the SUV Hope told them to take instead of the train. He knew the train ride would be at least three days or so worth of traveling and, the sooner his friends were at Snow’s and safe, the better he would feel.
Since the storm had ripped through the city, a lot of businesses were closed for repairs and the roads were pretty bare. Their trip would definitely be shorter than they had originally expected.
“If you have any signs of getting a headache, you better speak up.” Lightning demanded of Snow. “I’m not dying because you’re too stubborn to admit something is wrong.”
“Don’t worry,” He laughed. “I feel better than I have in years.” He glanced in the rear view mirror to see Vanille curled up in the backseat listening to music.
“She doesn’t say a whole lot, does she?” Lightning asked. “Not compared to before, anyway.” She joked.
“I think she’s still trying to get used to everything. She has gone through a lot of changes recently.” Snow reminded her. “Plus, I think she knows Fang…knows.”
“How? She didn’t say anything to them.” Lightning asked.
“That’s why. Remember here,” He paused. “They’ve known each other way longer than anyone else. I wouldn’t be surprised if she figured it out.”
Lightning nodded as she realized he was right. They had been together in one way or another for over 1,000 years. Thinking about that just made her feel worse for Fang. She had wanted to be with Snow for half that time and it ate away at her when she couldn’t be.
“She will be fine, babe.” It was like Snow could hear her thoughts. She smiled and sighed. “I meant what I said. I do care about her and I don’t want her to ever feel like she lost us.”
“I agree. I care about her, too. Even when she pisses me off, I still want her to be happy.” She said. “She seemed happy with us.” She added quietly.
“Were you happy? Not just satisfied but, I mean really happy.” He asked.
“I was. I never thought I’d be this kind of person but, yes. You both make me very happy.” She reached over for his hand. “Were you?”
“Yes.” He lifted her hand to his lips and kissed it. “Honestly. I’m happy no matter what. As long as I’m with you. Fang is just a bonus.” He smirked.
The drive lasted about twelve hours or more but they were finally getting closer to the small village that Snow called home. He reached over to Lightning and brushed her hair from her sleeping face.
“Babe. We’re almost there.” He said softly.
“How long was I asleep?” She asked, sitting herself up straight in her seat.
“A while.” He replied.
Lightning looked out the window at all the open land. She wasn’t used to seeing it. She rolled down her window and the smell of the salty water filled her nose. A slight smile formed on her face. She missed that smell. She missed the sound of the ocean.
“How much longer?” She asked.
“Maybe ten minutes.” He shrugged.
They sat in silence until they reached his house. They woke Vanille and Snow unlocked the door to the house and turned on the lights.
“I know it’s not much.” He said. “But it’s home.”
“I love it.” She smiled. She looked around the house and her heart filled with happiness when she saw all the children’s artwork displayed like a museum.
“Vanille, the spare room is just over there. It’s small but there’s a bed, bathroom and TV.” He pointed to the door at the front of the house just off the living room.
“Okay! Thank you.” She went to the room and shut the door behind her.
“Our room…” He grabbed her hand and gently pulled her. “Is over here.”
“Our room, huh?” She joked.
“Mhm.” He turned on the light and kissed her softly. “Our room.”
“I like the sound of that.” She whispered before returning to his lips.
“The bathroom is over here.” He said, showing her the large room.
“Wow. This is nicer than most of Hope’s bathrooms.” She laughed. “But the window in front of the tub?” She asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Don’t worry.” He laughed. “It’s one sided. No one can see inside.”
“They better not be able to.” Lightning said seriously.
He brought her back into the bedroom and pulled her onto his lap as he sat on the bed.
“I love you.” He said softly.
“I love you, too.” She replied, pressing her forehead against his. She felt his hand moving up the back of her shirt. “Snow…” She giggled. “We just got here.”
“So?” He laid her on her back and hovered over her. His hand now moving up the front of her shirt to her breasts.
“Baby, can we at least get something to eat first?” She laughed. Her body was responding to his touch but her stomach was empty and growling.
“Fiiiine.” He sighed. “Why don’t I go let Lebreau and Gadot know we are here? I can grab some food and bring it back.” He asked. His eyes filled with excitement.
“Sure. I’m going to wash up.” He kissed her left the room. She headed to the bathroom and began to fill the tub. Being here brought back so many memories of her time with Serah in Bodhum before their lives changed forever. Tears filled her eyes.
She removed her clothes and lowered herself into the soapy hot water, enjoying the size of the tub. She put her hair up and just relaxed and stared out the window. Snow must have told her the truth about it being one sided. It was dark outside and there were plenty of people on the beach. Nobody was looking in her direction. She could see Snow entering what must have been the bar. He was quickly greeted by a very happy little girl. He picked her up and spun her around, making Lightning tear up again. Only this time it was happiness that was making her cry. He was so happy to be home. He disappeared into the crowd of people and she sunk deeper into the bath and closed her eyes.
About twenty minutes later, she had already been dressed in one of Snow’s baggy shirts patiently waiting for Snow to return with their food. Her stomach was actually hurting. She gave up and slipped on her pants. She was annoyed but she also knew he probably got held up with his friends. Before she made it to the door, Snow came rushing in. Almost running her over.
“Come with me!” He shouted.
“Snow wha-“ She didn’t have time to speak before he had them running to the bar.
There were dozens of people there drinking and eating. He plowed through them like they were nothing as he led them to the back deck.
“Would you slow down?!” She whined.
He turned around and looked her in the eyes. He could barely contain himself. She was so confused. He was crying and had a stupid smile on his face.
“Snow…” She said.
He couldn’t say anything. There were no words felt he needed to say. He kissed her and stepped aside. She looked around the room and the first person she saw was Noel. She ran up to him and hugged him. It wasn’t until Gadot stepped aside that she saw her. Serah. Tears were streaming down her face. She brought her hands to her mouth and sobbed.
“Serah!?” She ran up to her and wrapped her arms around her as tightly as she could. She couldn’t believe what was happening. Serah returned her embrace and her arms squeezed around her sister’s neck.
“Light!” She was finally able to say.
“You’re…here.” Lightning whispered. She finally had her sister back. Her heart felt complete. “How long have you been here?!” She asked. She let go of her sister and they sat down at the table next to them.
“I don’t know. A few weeks? Maybe less? We got here after Snow left.” She was struggling to speak through her emotions.
Lightning turned to Snow. He was just as happy as she was. He was holding Taliah and fighting back his own tears. He couldn’t stop smiling.
“I’m glad you kept her safe.” Lightning said to Noel. “Thank you.”
“Trust me, she can handle herself.” He laughed. He reached for Serah’s hand. “She’s stronger than you think.”
“She wouldn’t be Light’s sister if she wasn’t.” Snow added as he joined them.
“Serah, I-“ Lightning was losing control of her emotions but then she felt her hand touch her face.
“You have absolutely nothing to apologize for. In fact,” She paused. “I need to thank you.”
“For what? I got you killed.” She said softly, full of shame and regret.
“No, you didn’t. That was my destiny on that planet and I would do it all again. It brought me to Noel.” She smiled. “You sent him to me.” Her hands moved to her stomach and her eyes welled with tears again. “Because of you, I have a family of my own.”
Lightning and Snow looked at each other in shock. Her hand moved to her sister’s.
“You’re pregnant?” She asked.
Serah nodded. Lightning hugged her again and Snow did the same with Noel.
“Congratulations.” Snow’s voice filled the room. Everyone started cheering. Most of which were too drunk to know what they were celebrating but that just made everyone laugh.
“You’re going to be a mom.” Lightning whispered. The memories of their own mother came to her.
“Okay, enough of the crying! Let’s drink!” Gadot yelled.
A couple of hours had passed and the bar was slowly emptying. Lightning and Snow told them about how well Hope was doing and Serah and Noel just lit up. They never expected anything less of him after Academia but they were so happy that he did well in this life, too.
“There’s something else I forgot to tell you.” Serah suddenly interrupted. “We’re getting married!”
“That’s awesome. So many life milestones happening at once.” Snow responded. Serah noticed Lightning laughing.
“What’s so funny?” She laughed awkwardly with her.
“So are we.” Lightning smiled and reached for Snow’s hand.
“Wait, what?!” Serah was in shock. Never would she have imagined Lightning to be someone’s wife. Not even Snow’s.
“It just happened. Are you okay with that?” Lightning asked.
“Yes!! I’m thrilled!” She exclaimed.
“Congrats, man. You finally got your happy ending.” Gadot said to Snow.
“Ending? It’s just the beginning, my man.” He smiled softly at Lightning and kissed her in front of everyone. For the first time, she didn’t feel uncomfortable with his very public display of affection. Knowing that Serah was with Noel and that they were happy made it easier for her to let her walls down.
“Why don’t we call it a night?” Noel suggested when he noticed Serah yawning.
“Yeah, we probably should. It’s pretty late.” Snow agreed. “Do you guys need help closing up?” He asked Gadot.
“Nah. Lebreau already did most of it before she took the kids home. Go home.” He smiled as he began shutting off lights.
Lightning hugged Serah one more time before disappearing in the darkness with Snow.
Snow quickly undressed and got into their bed while Lightning went into the bathroom before joining him. Her eyes were totally bloodshot from all the tears she had shed. She ran cold water and splashed it on her face before taking off her pants and tossing them on the floor and making her way to their bed.
“You look beautiful.” He said as he scooted closer to her. “You look happy.”
“I am. We found Serah and she’s doing well.” She laid back against the pillow and allowed him to hover over her and kiss her. “And I have you.” She said softly as she stared into his eyes. His kisses made her heart race.
She looked different. Her eyes were completely lit up with love and happiness. Her light touch on his back made blood rush to his cock. He slipped her out of his t-shirt and tossed it aside. His hands cupped her breasts as he slowly got on top of her, spreading her legs.
Neither of them said anything. They were ready for each other. He slowly slid himself into her as she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him. For the first time since before they met, the walls around her heart were gone. Everything about her felt different and he loved it. She felt complete like, finally, she could rest easy knowing everyone she loves is safe.
He rocked his hips in and out of her slowly. She seemed to be responding well to his long, deep thrusts and while their previous sexcapades were amazing, it felt even better to take it slow. Her nails scratched lightly up and down his back as she moaned into his shoulder. He could feel her breaths becoming shorter as they hit his skin. He knew she was close.
He increased his speed only slightly. He felt her teeth sink into his shoulder and her nails into his back. He moaned as he kissed her neck. He felt her fingers run though his hair, his lips soon met hers.
He pulled away and pressed his forehead against hers. They were both breathing heavily and, within a few short moments, they both moaned loudly as they came together.
“God, Light.” He panted, still inside of her moving in and out slowly. “Why can’t I get enough of you?” He asked as he kissed her.
“I was just thinking the same thing.” She said softly.
They spent the rest of their night sharing passionate and exhilarating moments together before finally wearing themselves out and falling asleep in each other’s arms.
