Chapter 5

Disclamer: Well...Cloud belongs to Rufus and...j/k
Way to go Square for owning these awesome guys.

Sorry that it took so long to update. I had it saved on my computer, but I was being too lazy to upload. I finally felt bad about it (especially after all of your nice reviews)and got around to it. I even tried to get this one out fast after that last one. (I didn't care much for that one.)

Anyway...on to the angst!!

-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-

Cloud awoke in the worst pain of his life. His eyes were swollen from no doubt being punched during the fight making it difficult to open them. He felt cool air on his no doubt exposed body and a comfortable surface below him, which he took to be a bed.

When he endured the pain long enough to satisfy his curiosity to his current location, he knew it immediately. It was Rufus’s bedroom. He could make out a figure on the couch that he took to be the man he now found himself longing to be with.

“Uh...R-Rufus…?”

“You’re awake, huh? Took you long enough, didn’t it, Strife?” Cloud immediately noticed the tone of the older man’s voice. It sounded cold and his speech was a bit slurred.

Cloud closed his eyes back to prevent the searing pain. He heard Rufus approach the bed and then felt his weight upon it.

The older man trailed his hand up Cloud’s bruised and battered body, stopping when he reached his hair, which he caressed with his fingers. Cloud would take the treatment. This was the price he paid to feel wanted.

Rufus climbed on top of Cloud and it was then that the younger man realized the full extent of his injuries. His whole body was killing him.

“Ugh…Rufus, please…please get--” He didn’t get to finish his sentence because Rufus had claimed his mouth, taking advantage of it being open. Cloud tasted alcohol in the other’s mouth. “Y-You’re drunk,” he said pulling away.

“Yeah, well what do you care, Strife?” He got off the bed and Cloud heard his pants unzipping.

Cloud tried to get up, but it was then that he realized that all four of his limbs were chained to the bed.

“Rufus don’t do this. Please, not now. I’m in a lot of pain.”

“Yeah? Well, you’re about to be in a lot more if you don’t shut the hell up.” Rufus pulled his shirt over his head and got back on the bed.

“Rufus, listen to me. I know I ran away, but I was going to come--”

“Shut up! I don’t want to hear it.”

“Please, just listen I was going to come--” Next thing Cloud knew there was the taste of cloth in his mouth and he took it that he was being gagged.

“You belong to me, and you’ll do as I say.”

Cloud pulled on the chains at his wrist, but Rufus simply held his hands still, nearly crushing them. He tried to spit the cloth out of his mouth, but it was tied too tight.

He felt Rufus at his opening and panicked when he realized that he wasn’t going to prepare him or himself.

“Uhm! Uhm…uhn…” Cloud tried to offer up little pleading cries, but all he got was a punch to the head.

“Shut up already!” In one swift motion, he fully entered the already abused boy.

“UHN,” Cloud released a scream.

Rufus moved back out before ramming back inside. He held onto Cloud’s hips brutally and went so far as to dig his nails into the younger man’s flesh.

Cloud felt tears welling up in his eyes at everything: the pain he was experiencing, the great misunderstanding that was happening, and, oddly enough, how much he had hurt the other.

He experienced the sensation of blood trickling down his thighs and felt himself about to pass out from the torture he was experiencing, both physical and emotional.

He was rocked back and forth with Rufus as the older man ground him into the sheet repeatedly. The pain only becoming worse as he sped up, no doubt a sign of nearing his completion.

Cloud was overjoyed when it was that, and the older man exploded within him before slowly pulling out, panting the entire time.

Rufus rose from his position on the tarnished bed and pulled his pants back on before seating himself at his desk. Cloud watched as he pulled out a bottle of liquor and poured himself a glass.

After all that remained was drops, he looked at the younger man. Cloud hoped that he would take off the gag so that he could explain himself.

“I’m going to have you moved downstairs to a prison cell,” he said pouring another drink. “I can’t stand to look at you anymore.”

“Uhn-uhn…” If only he would take the stupid cloth off.

“Shut up. I’ve made up my mind.” He then grabbed the phone on the desk and dialed a number. “This is Rufus. Please come to my room to transport a prisoner downstairs.”

He set the phone down and returned to Cloud’s side. He then unlocked the chains at his feet knowing that the younger man was in too much pain to do anything.

Rufus next picked Cloud’s pants up where they rested on the floor and climbed onto the bed. Cloud was grateful when he very gently lifted his leg to dress him, as if trying to spare him any further pain. He pulled them up all the way before buttoning them at the top.

He then unchained Cloud’s wrist and slowly lifted the younger man up before tenderly pulling his shirt over his head. Cloud tried to lean into the kind touch, but it pulled away and he instead found himself on his stomach with his hands being cuffed behind him.

Rufus lifted Cloud from the bed and carried him to the couch where he laid him down gently. Cloud tried to signal for him to take out the gag, but he just shook his head and walked away.

After several minutes, Cloud heard a knock at the door and watched as the guards entered.

“He’s right here,” Rufus said, once more at his side. “I’m afraid he’s in no condition to walk though.”

Cloud listened to the aggravated grunts from the men at the idea of having to carry him all the way there.

“Just do as your ordered and take him away,” Rufus snapped at them.

Cloud then felt hands lifting him and holding him up by the arms. He was escorted from the room and took one look back before the door closed. The image he saw consisting of Rufus sitting on the couch with his head in his hands looking completely miserable.

Once they were out of view of the President, Cloud felt the grip of the men become rougher and began to feel more as if he was being dragged than carried.

“So, I guess this little prick finally fell out of the President’s good grace.”

“You got that right. And judging by the condition the bastard’s in, I think he did it in a big way too.”

Cloud endured comments and treatment such as that the entire way before they finally arrived and he was thrown into his cell. He landed roughly on his arm and he heard a cracking noise he took to be the bone.

With any and all strength he had left, he climbed onto the bed and felt hot tears running down his cheek as he fell into a much-needed sleep.

Cloud awoke late the next morning with the hope that it had all been a nightmare. However, when he opened his eyes he saw the dim cell he had the displeasure of viewing briefly last night.

He tried to work his way into a sitting position, which proved to be extremely painful due to his numerous wounds and a newly broken arm. He looked to the door and saw a tray of food. He began to get up and get it and then started to ask himself what the point was.

There was no one who was going to save him. There was no one who cared. He might as well rot.

He got up and began to pace back and forth thinking over all of his mistakes and how he should have handled them.

He began with what started it all, Aerith’s capture. He never should have risked so much to save her. She obviously didn’t care enough about him to reciprocate.

He thought of when he had chosen to fight Rufus alone. If he hadn’t done that, he might have won. Then he never would have been captured and neither of them would be in this great deal of pain right now.

He finally thought of the most recent mistake. The decision he made to run away. Away from the one person who might have actually cared for him to a group of would-be friends.

Yeah, he had messed everything up to an extraordinary level and because of that, Rufus now had to suffer too.

A guard walked to the door and replaced the untouched tray with another. Cloud continued to walk back and forth though, completely ignoring the food.

As the days went by, the lack of nourishment caused his pacing to turn to just standing. His standing then turned to sitting. And then, when he could no longer do that, he simply lay in bed, waiting for death to take him.

Eventually, he found it hard to open his eyes, much less perform any other function, and he felt the end was near. When that point came, he simply rested his head and drifted into a long sleep.

,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,

Cloud slowly began to regain consciousness. He thought that he might be dead all except for the pain and exhaustion in his body.

He opened his eyes with much strain and was glad to see that he was in the comforting room of the President once again.

He looked down and saw that his arm had been put in a sling. Out of impulse he reached with his other arm to examine it.

“Don’t you dare move.” Cloud knew that voice. It had a wonderful tone he had come to admire.

He saw Rufus rise from a chair next to the bed. Just when Cloud was expecting a considerate embrace or a loving action all he felt was a slap across his face.

“You idiot. Just what were you trying to accomplish exactly? Just tell me that.” Cloud was caught off guard by the onslaught of yelling and it rang painfully in his ears. “You could have died, and you would have if one of those miserable guards hadn’t had a change of heart and told me what you were doing.”

Cloud was surprised when he looked into the older man’s eyes and saw tears. This was all his fault. Even getting rid of himself wouldn’t ease Rufus’s pain. It seemed to have the opposite effect.

He tried to move his hand and grab onto Rufus’s jacket to pull him closer. The older man could tell that he had something to say so he complied and moved nearer.

“I…I’m…” Cloud’s voice was barely above a hoarse whisper. “…sorry…I only…wanted to…to make you…happy…”

Rufus leaned in even closer and gave Cloud a soothing embrace.

“You idiot.” Cloud could feel the tears dripping onto his face. “I don’t want to lose you. I can’t. That would never make me happy.”

Cloud leaned up and gave Rufus a quick kiss before exhaustion overtook him and he fell back down. He watched the world around him become hazy as he closed his eyelids to fall asleep.

“Wake up, Cloud. I’m not letting you sleep until you’ve eaten something.” Cloud enjoyed the loving attention but was a bit annoyed by the seemingly selfish demand.

He watched as Rufus brought a bowl from the table and sat back down in his chair before pulling himself a little closer. He dipped the spoon in and brought it to Cloud’s lips.

“It’s soup.” Cloud grimaced inwardly. He had never liked soup, but he wasn’t about to upset the older man so he opened his mouth.

Cloud pulled back as soon as the broth touched his tongue and gave Rufus a mean, yet playful, look.

“What’s wrong?”

“It…it’s too…hot…” Cloud forced himself to say.

“Well, allow me to fix that.” Rufus then brought up another spoonful to his own lips and blew on it lightly before feeding it to Cloud.

By the time the bowl was half-gone, they heard a knock at the door. Rufus moved to get up, but Cloud pulled him back down.

“D-don’t…go…”

Rufus gave Cloud a lighthearted smile.

“As you wish, my pet.” Cloud smiled back and listened as Rufus beckoned for the visitor to enter.

Cloud watched a cheerful young girl walk in; when she got to the bed, instead of giving him the menacing stare he had come to expect, she simply gave him an upbeat and happy smile, which he gladly returned.

“I’m not coming in to work today,” Rufus said to her.

“Oh, well, um…I was just cleaning off my desk, sir, and I found a letter addressed to you. I’m sorry it took so long, sir. It seemed to have been under a mountain of paperwork. I thought that it would be best to get it to you as soon as possible.”

“Thank you,” Rufus said taking the letter from her grasp, “I don’t know when I’ll be coming back, but I hope that you can handle things without me.”

“Yes, sir.” She went to leave before turning back and giving another cheerful smile to the both of them. “I hope to see you at work again soon.”

“Goodbye,” Rufus said as she closed the door. He then turned back to Cloud. “That was my secretary. She’s a very nice girl. You’d like her.”

Rufus then looked down at his letter. “It’s from Gongaga. I wonder who would be sending me something from out there.”

Cloud was glad when he recognized the message was the one that he had sent. He placed his hand on one of Rufus’s.

“Read…i-it…” Rufus gave Cloud a puzzled look as he opened the envelope and took out the note. “It…it’s from…me…” He gave Cloud another confused glance as he began to read the content.

“‘Rufus, you’re a domineering spoiled brat…’” Rufus looked up from the paper, but Cloud nodded for him to keep going. “‘…and I think that I may be missing you. Shortly after I arrived here in Gongaga, I met up with all of my so-called friends. I realized that they didn’t care about me, not as much as they said they do anyway, and that the one person who actually does I have just run away from. I can’t tell you how sorry I am in this short letter, but I want you to know that I want to come back to you. Please, if you care, come and meet me in Gongaga. I’ll be waiting just inside the forest. Come as soon as you get his letter, Cloud…P.S. Don’t be too mad at that Turk girl.’”

By the time Rufus had finished the end, Cloud saw tears in his eyes. He climbed on the bed and slowly lifted Cloud up and pulled him against himself.

“I’m so sorry. Can you…can you ever forgive me?” Cloud pulled away and wiped the tears from Rufus’s eyes.

“I…I already have…Master.” Rufus laid Cloud back down gently on the bed.

“You don’t have to call me that anymore.”

“I…I know…”

Rufus watched as Cloud closed his eyes and drifted into a pleasant sleep. He then placed a kiss upon the hero’s lips and lay down next to him, the two in their own blissful paradise.
