Chp 6 (Last chapter to Part 2)

Chapter 6

The days also go by quietly. Despite his bragging, Art had to rest for a few days before he was able to do much. He then carried out his promise to Chancey. Vincent can’t help but notice them disappearing now and then. Art no longer took as much notice of other women and he seemed more content.

On day 21, the quiet was broken. Elos was spotted nearby, leading the remaining enhanced men towards the caves. They began to get ready for the battle. The guards and the enhanced men began fighting on the dawn of the 22 day.

The objective: to keep the invading forces from entering the cave at all costs. Chancey is unable to persuade Art from not joining the battle. He puts some device on himself before joining the battle line. Vincent kept in the back and took shots with his gun. Xavier was with the guards, his twin swords slicing and parrying. Chancey was personally guarding the cylinders. Elos was using his troop to clear a path to the cave. He was close to the cave opening, when Art blocked his way.

Elos, “So, you survived my strongest poison?”

Art, “I am not as weak as you think. I will prove it by killing you.”

They start fighting. Both using swords and claws. Elos had more of the physical advantage, but Art fought with desperation. Vincent at one point seen them take their fight to the air. Elos with his black wings, Art with his white wings. The ground battle was going good, but the aerial battle wasn’t. Chancey was aware of the battle from her link with Art. Art was tiring quickly now, he knew he didn’t have a chance against Elos. If this battle was to take place a month from now, he would have been healthier and a better fighter. He was gradually leading Elos from the cave and his friends. Once at a good distance, he then activated the small device on his chest. Art used the last of his energy to grab onto Elos.

Art, “What is very nasty and very painfully?”

Elos, trying to pull him off, “What?”

Art, “The bomb that is about to blow us up!”

Chancey then realized what he was about to do and ran to the entrance of the cave. Art sent one last message to her through the link.

Art, ~ Thanks Chancey. . . You gave my short life meaning. ~

He severed the link before the bomb went off.

Chancey, “No!”

The sky was lit by an explosion. Chancey ran to the area under the explosion, to see no much left of the fighters. Their charred swords laid on the ground. The rest of the battle ended shortly afterward. Several of the guards were hurt or killed, but the invading army was destroyed.

Elos and Art were now dead. Chancey fell into a depression after Art’s death. Xavier wasn’t certain how to handle her. He mostly talked to the other two. Zackery and Madnol were unable to talk back, but Xavier knew they heard. Vincent decided he needed to talk to her. He found her holding a charred piece of cloth.

Vincent, “I think he planned this before he even came here.”

Chancey tears streaming down her face, “He could have told me. . . “

He held her as she cried. When she cried herself out, she told him about their link. She felt so alone now since it was gone and she missed him terribly. Vincent told her about his love, Lucrecia. He was once a normal man who was in love with a female scientist. She allowed herself tointointo an experiment of Hojo’s. This experiment yielded a child. Shinra took the child and left her devastated. He even tried to take his anger out on Hojo. For years he blamed himself and finally realized he wasn't the only one at fault. He still did blame himself for her death, but the pain was easier to handle. He told her no one can truly understand her pain, but the pain will ease. He reminded her of his love for her, his daughter. Then he left her alone so she could have some privacy.

Afterward she was feeling better. By day twenty-eight, the two were ready to leave the cylinders. Zackery and Madnol felt weak and funky. Vincent told them they may feel strange for a while. The feeling would pass as their bodies adjusted to the mako changes. Their eyes now glowed mako blue. Chancey did deep down wonder if they will ever truly appreciated the sacrifice for their safety.

Zackery and Madnol practiced their fighting abilities and slowly adjusted to their new bodies. They still seemed mentally stable.

Zackery, “We still have one problem. We don’t know where Cloud is.”

Madnol, “I wonder where Cloud would go?”

Vincent, “He hasn’t shown up in the northern crater.”

Then Madnol called them to the bridge of the Highwind. They can hear Kain on the radio.

Kain, “There is some sort mass migration of monsters to Old Midgar.”

Chancey, “I bet Cloud is there!”

Zackery, “Maybe, but you seem very sure.”

Chancey, “Art used to dream of Old Midgar and my feelings say Cloud will be there.”

Vincent, “We better go in ready for the worse. We may have to fight all those
monsters going in and maybe going out.”

Xavier, “Hell, lets bring it on!”

Madnol, “No, one of us has to stay with Highwind. Since I must go inside Old
Midgar, that leaves you Big brother.”

Xavier, rather reluctantly, “Damn..... Okay. “

Vincent, “Chancey, I want you to stay aboard Highwind also.”

Chancey, “No! I watched Art die and I won’t sit back to watch my friends also die. I am fulfilling Art’s wish for us to help Cloud.”

Zackery, “Besides we may need her to use the materia and recite that prayer. We are here to cure Cloud after all.”

Vincent back down, but he held a fear that they were walking into a trap.

They get ready to go to Old Midgar. They have some potions and both materias. They know they have no clue on what to expect in the old city. Each person is given a radio linked to Highwind's own radio. If need be, Highwind can fly over and do a quick pick up. They walked into Midgar through the front entrance.

Chancey, “Art says you walk can walk to Sector 6 from the gate. It is the first residential area.”

They walk past sector 6. The ruins of building materials left laying around. They walk past on old playground. Then they across remains of some street.

Chancey, “This was once the wall market.”

Vincent, “There is away to the top via an old wire.”

Zackery, “I feel Cloud nearby. . . . He is up there on the plates.”

Vincent, “Only way up is to parachute or to climb. We need to keep quiet so we better climb.”

They begin to climb the wire in the back of the old wall market. The climb is harder than when Cloud went up years back, due to parts of the broken plate falling off. One point, Chancey slipped and almost fell. Madnol caught her hand and helped her back on. They eventually reach the top of the plate. The Shinra building still stood.
The worse was at the top.

Vincent, “The top was taken off by Weapon’s blast.”

Zackery, “The weapons did some damage. . . would they come back?”

Vincent, “Only if the planet was in great danger.”

They enter the old building. Zackery can feel Cloud is nearby. Madnol is impatient, fidgeting with a sphere.

Madnol, “Lets get inside! I want to see if I can kick his ass!”

They walk up the side steps till they reach the top level 59. They find themselves in a room full of monsters. They also realize there is power in the building. Mainly because the lights were on.

Vincent, “We have to fight our way past them.”

They begin to fight the monsters. Zackery and Madnol are much stronger fighters than before. Despite the numbers, they find themselves killing all of the monsters. They tally up their own injuries and find they only have minor wounds.

Chancey, “We better hurry up. I have a feeling something big is about to happen.”

They hurry up the steps to the next floor. They follow Zackery who leads them past many floors. They are about to go on the last floor, when Zackery makes them stop.

Zackery, “We better go in there 100% healthy.”

They each takes a sip of the potion. Then they go through the doors. Several walls have been torn down. All that stood was a few walls and one large container. Next to the cylinder was Cloud. Cloud skin is pale from lack of sunlight. His eyes were a dark purple that seemed to stare right through them.

Cloud, “Welcome.”

Vincent, “Chancey, get ready to go into that trance.”

Cloud stands up quickly, his hands already claws. He leaps at them at high speeds and begins to fight with them all. Even Chancey is unable to sit this one out. The only thing keeping Cloud from massacring them is Zackery and Madnol. Cloud still inflicts damage. They also inflict some damage on Cloud, his nose bleeding from one of Madnol’s punches. He flips backward so the large container is right behind him.

Cloud, “Do you think I sat on my ass this whole two months? So what if you have Mako energy now. I have been spending my time more productively. Sing Happy Birthday To Jenova!!”

The container begins to open behind him. They can see the full form of a naked woman. Then she begins to move. Cloud gasped in pain and dropped to the floor. As Jenova stepped out, he rose back to his feet. Jenova gracefully stands behind him. She is a fully body woman, with white hair and black eyes. She is also taller than Cloud. Cloud’s eyes have also turn to black orbs. Zackery, to his horror, ceases to feel Cloud at all. She ran her hands over Cloud’s shoulders and spon a n a silky voice.

Jenova, “My love, we have guest. . . You should have told me.”

Cloud just smirks at them in a blood thirsty way.
