Chapter Five
Zack was zoning again, like he always did round this time of day. His mind just blank, not by his own fault mind you. But there was a lot to take in.
The brilliant idea to get him under the radar for his over exposure to Mako. Was Kunsel's idea, it was to get him ranked up to a 2nd Class before the next medical, that meant he was being pushed to his mental and physical limits. Kunsel's idea was all they had to work with to lessen the suspicion. Sephiroth had phased himself back into his normal routines which meant Zack dealt with Angeal in training and focus on his missions with his unit.
“Zack anybody home?” Kunsel's hand moved in front of his face.
Zack blinked as he slowly was brought back to focus. He shook his head.
“Yeah I'm here... sorry.” He apologized.
“How'd the last treatment go?” Kunsel asked.
“Fine it was nothing.” Zack replied.
Kunsel looked at Zack's plate, the food untouched. “Really now?”
Zack looked at his plate and he picked up the bread roll before shoving it in his mouth as if to prove a point.
Kunsel always worried when he didn't eat after an infusion, the more infusions Zack got the more dazed he became. Like he was having trouble recalling things. He'd almost forgotten Sebastian's name last week. Luckily they thought nothing of it and Kunsel covered his ass by saying everyone reacts different to the different strengths of Mako out there.
“Mreee mron't mrorry mrom!” He pointed at Kunsel.
Kunsel just laughed. “Good.”
~*~*~*~
Zack walked into the training room, automatically like he did an hour after the lunch gathering at the mess hall, none of the 3rd Class SOLDIER's were supposed to, but it was set up by Angeal for clearance so grabbing the visor and a training sword from the wall Zack flipped through the mock missions on the screen. He counted through the list available to his rank and used Angeal's supervisor code, even though the big man wasn't around to actually supervise him. Sure eventually it would raise some brows but Zack would take the heat for that later on and state that he'd borrowed the code while staying with Angeal.
Zack was about to hit enter and slide the visor on when the door swished open behind him. He stopped and found himself staring at a cadet the helmet still on.
“Uh 3rd Class Zack Fair? You have been summoned to Sephiroth's office sir.”
Zack sighed and canceled the mission and logged out.
“Right thanks for that.”
~*~*~*~
Zack knocked on Sephiroth's door, he opened it and saw Angeal in Sephiroth's office instead of Sephiroth.
“A-Angeal? I thought.”
Angeal motioned for him to shut the door.
Zack closed the door.
“Sephiroth just got called out. But here we go.” Angeal tapped the piece of paper. “Signed by Lazard himself.”
Zack walked up to the desk and he picked up the piece of paper before looking at Angeal. “No way? Already?! How?”
“You did it yourself. I know you're not home all the time, but you fell into a routine you stuck to it. Congratulations 2nd Class Zack Fair.” Angeal smiled and gave Zack a pat on the back as he walked past. “Take the rest of the afternoon off go lie down or something.”
Zack nodded and walked out of the office the piece of paper in his hand. “This is so cool! I think I should call home.”
“Then call home.” Angeal shut the door to Sephiroth's office and locked it.
Angeal watched as Zack walked off, he turned round heading down the hall. He hadn't really liked the plan from Zack's friend, but it had been the only one they had to utilize without suspicion of tampering with the infusions.
Angeal walked down the hall towards his own office and pushed the door open. He raised a brow to find Genesis sitting on the window ledge that book perched in his hand.
“Genesis.” Angeal looked to his friend.
“How did your puppy take his news?” Genesis asked.
Angeal nodded. “Good. Why are you so interested?”
“No reason.” It was Genesis' generic reply when he was trying to make conversation on a topic he didn't care about, in order to break 'tension' before stating some kind of news.
Angeal sighed. “What is it?” He sighed.
“I leave for Wutai tomorrow.” Genesis replied.
Angeal blinked. “By yourself?”
Genesis rolled his eyes. “Yes by myself I'm going to force Godo to surrender... Of course not idiot.”
Angeal shook his head. “You know what I mean, are no other 1st Class SOLDIER's going with you?”
“Did you get the memo?” Genesis replied.
“I haven't.”
“Then no, no one else is going to babysit me.”
Angeal let out an exasperated breath.
“It's nothing new Angeal, but since I leave first thing in the morning, I call for your assistance in something, so I'm requiring you take the afternoon off.”
Angeal raised a brow at Genesis' somewhat insistent tone. “What's it regarding?”
“I need you to loan me some of your troops for this mission of course. Sephiroth just stole mine.”
Angeal let his head drop. It wasn't uncommon for Sephiroth to 'borrow' troops from either of them now and again. Genesis just didn't like it happening without warning.
“Okay fine.”
~*~*~*~
Normalcy was odd to him. Moving back to the barracks finally when Sephiroth and Angeal seemed okay with the way his treatments to deal with Hojo's tampering, it was like loosing all sense of privacy again.
Zack didn't mind. He actually missed hanging out after missions in the room with Sebastian, Essai, Kunsel and Blaize.
“Second Class now. Well aren't you a show off?” Essai joked.
Zack shook his head unpacking his stuff. “It wasn't like that. Sephiroth and Angeal put the request to Lazard. But in all honesty nothing has changed. All this training and not a single mission. I might as well still be a 3rd class.”
Kunsel slapped him on the shoulder. “I say we go out for drinks.”
“I could use one.” Blaize confessed.
“Essai and I we got early morning mission tomorrow. Heading out to Kalm apparently they want us to pick up some document from this Chocobo rider Joe guy. He saved some grunts last week and in their panic from the Wutai attack they left some documents behind.” Sebastian explained.
“Ahhh gone is the days of us being called grunts.” Blaize chuckled.
“That sounds more thrilling than several more simulation training missions with Angeal.” Zack sighed. “Enjoy your freedom.”
Kunsel patted Zack on the shoulder. “Hey lighten up buddy. You'll get your mission. Lets just go get some drinks. I know this great place.”
Zack paused for a moment as if his mind was registering something. “It's a brothel isn't it?”
Kunsel had a look of mock hurt. “Zack.”
“I'm there.” Blaize jumped in.
“Someone told me you knew a place. But I can't remember who or where.” Zack frowned. “That's gunna bug me now.”
“Just get changed and lets go!” Blaize's impatience seemed to cut into Zack's thought process.
Zack resigned in trying to remember who told him that, if he was supposed to remember he would recall it later if it was important, that's how the brain was supposed to work, least he thought it was.
~*~*~*~
Several drinks, several hours into the night and possibly the next morning with a blonde face planting the table in a drunken stooper next to him. Zack was ready to call it a night.
He slammed the last shot down ready to walk out the bar when a suit brushed up against him.
“Hey watch where ya going yo.” The spiky red headed voice complained.
But before Zack could protest the red head was shoved onward by a taller dark skinned figure behind him in shades.
“Turks always think they own everything.” Kunsel scoffed.
“Uuuuh yeah.” Zack blinked.
Kunsel chuckled. “You haven't worked with any yet have you?”
Zack shook his head, he had Blaize's arm slung over his shoulder and Kunsel had the other arm over his shoulder and together they led the blonde out of the bar.
“Figured. They're good I'll give them that. They get the job done, but sometimes in a less than savory manner.” Kunsel explained.
“How do you know all of that?” Zack sighed.
“I just do.” Kunsel replied.
Zack let out a breath. “One day man I'm gunna figure out how you know this shit.”
Kunsel let out a chuckle. “Patience buddy, if you ever get into shit just know that I'll be your inside man.”
“I'll hold you to that.” Zack remarked.
~*~*~*~
Zack let out a breath as he slid the simulation glasses off his eyes, he turned to Angeal now that the mock mission was over.
His mentor looked... distracted.
“So it was okay right?”
“It was fine Zack.” Angeal replied as if on auto pilot.
“Then when do I get to go on my own solo mission man?”
Angeal smiled at him. Zack tilted his head to the side that smile, he had seen it on his father's face before. When his grandfather had passed.
Zack bit his bottom lip.
“You'll get your turn. Just don't rush into everything Zack. Life is not about rushing in and dying young.” Angeal walked towards the door.
“Did someone you know die?” Zack asked following Angeal to the door.
Angeal stopped and looked over his shoulder at him. He smiled at the teenager and shook his head.
“No nobody died.”
“Then why does it feel like they have? You seem sad. Like you've lost something important.”
Angeal blinked then saw Zack scratch the side of his face sheepish.
“Sorry I did it again said something stupid.” The youth apologized.
Angeal shook his head. “No. I'll explain later whats going on. When I have the clearance too.”
“Oooooh one of 'those' things. That's okay Angeal. You don't have to tell me, but just promise me you won't go and do anything stupid okay?” Zack grinned at him.
Angeal smiled. “I'll try not to take a page from your book, now go wash up. I've got to see the director about a few things.”
~*~*~*~
The days turned into weeks, and the weeks into a good solid three months.
All he did was train, he went on the bare minimum missions that were provided to him and his 'unit' or more like his friends.
Most the time it was the standard clear the monsters out of this area, things they knew Zack could handle on his own. But for some reason they always sent Kunsel, Blaize, Sebastian and Essai with him. Not that he minded them but he wanted a good level up as much as them. But most the time the missions took no more than half a day tops.
While they weren't on missions Zack was being trained by Angeal, he neither saw head nor hair of the great general.
Zack sent a few letters to his parents in that time while he was bored gave them a couple of phone calls.
They were always encouraging him to come home even though he was in SOLDIER now and he was a second class, they were proud of him they said so but they still thought of him as their baby. They wanted him where he was safe.
Regardless he felt safe where he was, staying in this room, with the other guys. He was relaxing on the bed just listening to them chatter.
“They revoked my leave again.” Essai sighed.
“Well that figures ShinRa militia is currently short staffed at the moment. A lot of them are not coming back from Wutai.” Kunsel replied.
“I don't mind I don't want to go home.” Blaize stated picking up his packet of smokes and heading to the door. “See you guys after dinner.”
“Later.” Zack waved to the blonde.
Sebastian sat up on his bed as the door shut. “Did you hear they promoted three of those idiot grunts that were in your old unit to third?”
Zack looked over to Sebastian. “Wow that took them a while.”
“We all can't rank up as fast as you.” Kunsel joked.
Zack laughed. “I feel sorry for the guys they have to work with and for.” He sat up. “So when did this happen?”
“Last week.” Kunsel replied.
“Blaize has been going out a lot each night lately hasn't he?” Zack looked to Kunsel.
Kunsel nodded at him. “Yeah he has. I know what you're thinking Zack and I'll confirm that what you suspect is true, now that they're thirds they've gotten back into bossing him around again.”
Zack sighed. “Why can't he just say no?”
“You're our superior reign him in and way from them, pull rank.” Sebastian stated. “Because if they continually force him out for drinks each night, it will effect him in the field, maybe not today but later down the track.” Essai added.
Zack nodded. “Sure I'll talk to him later.” He knew it meant having to be an actual superior, but he had to start acting like it sometime instead of being just a friend.
~*~*~*~
Angeal sat on the couch of the office and he looked to Sephiroth seated behind the desk signing off several papers.
“I understand your concern but he is old enough to take care of himself.” Sephiroth stated sliding a sheet of paper into a manilla folder and adding it to the pile of completed paperwork.
“While in the meantime they've had you in Wutai several times and they won't bring him back, don't you find that odd?”
“Perhaps Genesis does not want to come back, just yet.” Sephiroth stated.
Angeal lent back in the couch. “It would be typical of him to do so.”
“They have sent you to Wutai twice since he left did you not catch up with him then?” Sephiroth asked still signing the documents.
Angeal shook his head. “He wasn't answering his phone and anyone I spoke to in his camp said he was out.”
“It does get quite hectic there, you know that.” Sephiroth closed the next file up setting it to the side with the rest, it was a pedantic meticulous pattern. “Try to keep yourself occupied till they send you out there again, I can guarantee both of us will see Wutai again before the year is out.”
Angeal stood up. “Normally you or Genesis are coming to me with issues, but regardless thank you old friend.”
Sephiroth nodded at him. “Take care of that puppy of yours he has potential to be a first someday.”
~*~*~*~
Zack sat on his bed looking across the way at Kunsel who had several file spread out over his bed his eyes scanning the documents earphones in listening to something Zack wasn't sure he wanted to know.
His friend brushed the bangs from his eyes, mako blue glanced up at him and he just grinned.
“Don't look so worried.”
“Blaize isn't back yet. I haven't even had time to talk to him about the you know who crew.” Zack rubbed his temple.
“Well sitting here won't find him.” Kunsel stated.
Zack took the hint. “Oh you want to be left alone to do your creepy stalker thing... alright. I got the hint.” He stood up.
Kunsel rolled his eyes. “It's not a stalker thing Zack.”
“Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatever.” Zack drawled jumping up. “I need to get out and about anyway. “Have fun man.”
“Always.” Kunsel grinned at him.
Zack moved to the door and he looked back to Kunsel going over the files and he frowned. Kunsel pulled out the mp3 player cranking up whatever it was he listening to.
Shaking his head Zack left Kunsel alone and walked down the hall shoving his hands into his pockets.
It was really quiet in ShinRa for once, mostly of anybody who was someone important had gone off to Wutai.
Rubbing behind his neck Zack sighed. He walked up to one of the windows of the building looking out at the night sky.
“Still no stars.” He mused.
Zack stopped when he glanced down the hall seeing Kolenka and Ace harassing some poor grunt. He could hear half of the conversation from where he stood.
"C'mon blondie ya can't say no to us, not if you wanna promotion." Ace was leaning over the grunt a bit to close for comfort.
"I... uh, I'd rather not." The kid shook his head pulling the helmet down as if he could vanish inside it.
"Listen to this kid acting like he has a choice." Ace laughed.
"Da, we'd mik it wort ya tyme." Kolenka sniggered.
“No Blaize... interesting.” Zack walked down the hall towards them the poor grunt was pulling down his helmet trying to slip past them.
“Hey now that's no way for newly promoted 3rd Class to behave.” Zack slapped Ace over the back of the head. He shot Kolenka a challenging look.
The two gave him a look.
“You're not our boss.” Ace snapped.
“I out rank you, now go before I report this and he's the one who will be ordering you round when you get demoted.” Zack warned.
“Din wast yer tyme.” Kolenka grabbed Ace by the collar pulling him away from Zack knowing to back off at that moment.
Zack heard the grunt let out a sigh. He turned to the kid pulling his helmet down lower.
“You okay?”
“Y-Yeah... thanks.” The kid moved past him heading down the hall.
Zack raised a brow. “Hey if they do that again just report them.”
“It's not that easy. But I guess you wouldn't understand.” The kid gave him one last look before vanishing round the corner.
“Wanna bet.” Zack sighed. He looked on after Kolenka and Ace. “I wonder where Blaize is?” He didn't think Kolenka and Ace would tell him and he ran after the grunt. “Hey wait up. Was there another guy with them?”
The grunt was in the middle of pulling his helmet off round the corner and Zack got a quick glimpse of blonde hair before it was covered again.
“Uh no. Just those two.”
Zack let out a breath. “Damnit where is he?”
The grunt looked at him. “Who are you looking for?”
“One of the guys from my unit I have to do some disciplinary measures.”
He saw the smile from the grunt. “But you can't find him can you?”
“Oh yeah laugh it up, some leader I am.” Zack looked at the grunt then grinned. The kid had an infectious smile. “You know of Blaize?”
The grunt shook his head. “Sorry sir name doesn't ring a bell.”
“Guess it wouldn't.” Zack stopped as he saw said blonde walking round the corner. “There you are!” Zack slapped the grunt on the back. “You take care eh kiddo. If they bug you again just find me It's not like they send me out anywhere.”
“And who are you sir?” The grunt asked.
“Zack. Zack Fair.” He waved to the grunt before taking off towards the blonde. “Blaize you jerk where were you?”
Cloud let out a breath as the 2nd ran up to his unit member.
“Hey I got news! I got promoted!” The blonde exclaimed.
“Waaaait is that where you've been?” Zack grinned.
“Yeah. I'm a 2nd now, not the same expertise as you but yeah totally 2nd class with you.”
Cloud pulled his helmet off and looked on watching the two. “Must be nice to get promoted.” He walked toward the lift past the two talking.
“So no more Kolenka and Ace?” Zack asked.
“Nope. I'm on my own now.” His blonde friend grinned.
“Awesome! Cause you know I don't like those guys. I was gunna pull rank on you to keep away. But guess I can't anymore. Well just you wait I'll reach first in no time.” Zack grinned.
Cloud thumped the button of the lift. He wanted away from the conversation as fast as possible. He owed the 2nd sure, the guy had saved his ass from the 3rd's from hell. But talk of promotions just made him think of his lack of them.
“Race you.” The blonde laughed.
“Oh you are so on! First one to 1st buys!” Zack exclaimed.
Cloud was glad for the lift to bing and open he stepped inside and hit the floor number. He avoided looking at the two 2nd Class SOLDIER's as the lift door closed.
~*~*~*~
Zack walked back into the room with Blaize and he shot Kunsel a look. “You sly bastard you knew Blaize got promoted and didn't tell me.”
Kunsel just smiled. “Maybe I did. Maybe I didn't. I was just assigned to be your technical Advisor.”
“Cool.” Zack grinned.
“I got what you asked Kunsel.” Blaize handed over the box.
“Great.” Kunsel took the box.
Zack looked between the two. “Should I be worried about what's in the box?”
“Your 17th birthday present.” Kunsel replied.
Zack blinked. “But that's not for another two weeks.”
“And to get it you will have to wait two weeks.” Blaize replied.
“You know that's mean right? Making him wait he'll be irritable to work with until he knows what it is.” Kunsel joked.
Zack looked at them both with flat eyes. “I'm standing right here you assholes.”
~*~*~*~
Zack lept over the figures and then he brought the sword down between the two groups sending a shock wave through the ground knocking them back.
Spinning the sword round behind his back he clipped it to his back. He looked over his shoulder to Angeal.
“That okay?” He asked as Angeal ended the training mission.
The imagery around them shifted in a switch and flash of green digital lights back into training room 49.
“It's fine. Tomorrow we'll go into training you to fight wutai soldiers.”Angeal stated.
Zack grinned. “Awesome.”
“You can start later tomorrow I assume you're going out tonight.” Angel remarked as they made their way to the door.
Zack blinked. “I hadn't made plans.”
Angeal smiled. “I think your unit did that for you.”
“Oooh. Well thanks for that Angeal.” Zack turned to head down the hall.
“Oh and Zack.” Angeal interrupted him.
Zack stopped to look back at Angeal. “Yeah?”
“Happy Birthday.”
Zack grinned. “Thanks Angeal! See ya tomorrow man.” He waved before running down the hall. “Now to find out what's in that damn box!”
~*~*~*~
Zack held up the small black rectangular flip top cellphone.
“A phone. You guys got me a phone.”
“Not just any phone. A phone that Kunsel tinkered with.” Blaize pointed out.
“It's not going to blow up in my pocket is it?” Zack asked. “Or send radiation to my head and give me brain cancer?”
“I love how you have so much faith in my technical skills Zack.” Kunsel stated with mock hurt. “I am your Technical Advisor and I believe it's time we had a way to contact your country boy ass if we need you.”
“It's charged right?” Zack asked.
“Of course. I've already given your number to Angeal an Sephiroth.” Kunsel stated.
Zack blushed. “Uh why?”
“They're your superiors stupid.” Blaize rolled his eyes. “I can't believe you were using a brick for a phone before now.”
“Hey that brick was awesome.” Zack remarked.
“And green.” Kunsel pointed out.
“Puke green. Everybody knows black looks better.” Blaize added.
“Ooooh kay you two weirdos. A phone is a phone it gets the job done.”
Blaize laughed. “Just find something to wear we're meeting up with Essai and Sebastian and going out tonight.”
Zack looked at Kunsel. “Did you tell Angeal I was going out?”
“I might have slipped him a hint you might be slightly inebriated in the morning.” Kunsel replied.
Zack let out a breath. “Gee thanks.”
~*~*~*~
Sephiroth raised a brow looking at Angeal over the desk. “Lazard requested that you take him to Wutai to find Genesis?”
Angeal nodded. “Pretty much. Will you be able to hold down the fort while I'm gone?”
“I'll manage.”
“Sephiroth, we're all that's left of the 1st Class.”
Sephiroth let out a breath. “I am well aware of the situation.”
Angeal sighed. “Blaize, Kunsel, Sebastian and Essai have all lost their mentors in Wutai. I need to know what's going on with Genesis. You understand right?”
Sephiroth looked up at Angeal with a quirked brow, he nodded his head. “I understand. Are you going to retrieve your puppy now?”
“Lazard is currently occupied. But we'll be summoned sometime tomorrow.” Angeal walked to the door.
“When do you leave?”
“When Zack's packed and ready to go.”
Sephiroth nodded. “Take care.”
Angeal looked at Sephiroth. “You know I will... I want you to do something for me in the meantime. Sephiroth will you be able to tak-”
“He'll be in good hands Angeal you don't have to worry.” Sephiroth interupted.
“Thank you old friend.” Angeal nodded at Sephiroth and left.
~*~*~*~
Zack wondered why Angeal had summoned him to meet with Lazard.
It was on his mind the entire walk down the hall towards the briefing room. Granted he couldn't think of a single thing why the director of SOLDIER wanted to meet with him.
Then again he couldn't quite focus very well today, the news of the mass desertion Kunsel had told him about, it had him baffled. Recruits fought like crazy to get promoted then gone, deserted. There was something going on because none of this was really adding up.
“If it's a mission I hope it can wait till tomorrow.” Zack mused to himself as he stopped outside the briefing room. He needed to get his head round why everyone was deserting ShinRa. It made no sense.
Walking into the briefing room Angeal was sitting at one of the computers and looked over his shoulder at Zack. Lazard was sitting at another computer his fingers clasped together as the director was looking at the screen.
Zack walked up to the director.
Lazard pushed his chair back and stood up in greeting.
“Zack it's good to finally meet. Face to Face, Lazard director of SOLDIER.” He offered Zack his hand.
Zack glanced at the directors hand before clapping his into it shaking the hand.
“Heya.”
Lazard smiled before he turned round. “Onto business.”
He brought up an image and file on screen fro Zack to see.
“SOLDIER 1st Class Genesis.”
Zack recognized the guy, he couldn't really forget him. Luckily he didn't have much to do with him, that was more Sephiroth and Angeal.
Stepping back Zack crossed his arms looking at the image.
The file photo and Genesis basic stats were on the screen. On the base of the picture a giant red M.I.A flashed.
“A month ago he went missing during a mission in Wutai.”
Zack recalled that nearly four months ago Genesis had left. Angeal had been worried for him, but then everything returned to normal when Angeal got over his mother hen stage. Zack assumed Angeal had a ranting post in Sephiroth when the General had time they seemed to be those kind of friends.
Angeal sat in front of Zack hands clasped on the desk in front of him, his head down.
“Know anything about this?” Lazard was now seated and he turned his head to look at Zack.
Zack shook his head, he knew of Genesis but he didn't know him well enough to know why the guy would vanish in the middle of a mission.
“Not a clue.” Zack let his hands rest on his hips as he looked at the screen.
“The mission is currently stuck in limbo. That's why we've decided to send you.” Lazard stated.
Zack turned his head to look at Lazard. “Uh, to Wutai?” He asked.
Lazard's hands clasped in front of himself as he looked down.
“Yes. This war has gone on long enough.”
“I've recommended you for 1st.” Angeal stated suddenly.
Zack turned round, he couldn't help but smile his hands moving to the side of his head in shock, awe, admiration, that Angeal actually thought he was ready for the promotion.
“Angeal!” Zack couldn't help but exclaim before rushing his mentor and hugging him. “I love you man!”
Zack could hear Lazard snicker but he didn't really care as he hugged Angeal.
“Ang-el oof.”
Angeal pushed him back. “Don't make me regret this, Zack.” He stated.
Zack's arms snapped to his side. “Sir!”
Angeal stood up. “Once your packed you'll leave at once.”
Zack watched as Angeal left he was in complete shock awe that Angeal would have done that for him, recommended him for 1st to Lazard in person.
“I'll be joining you as well.” Lazard stated.
“Sir!” Zack slapped his arms to his side in attention.
Lazard leaned back in his seat looking at him arms crossing in half amusement.
“By the way, what is your dream? 'To become 1st' is it?” The blonde brow quirked up in interest.
“No.” Zack took a couple of steps towards the screen hands on his hips. “To become a hero!”
“Ah, good. Unattainable dreams are the best kind.”
Zack turned round suddenly in shock his brow furrowing. “Uh, thanks?”
~*~*~*~
Blaize raised a brow. “So that's it you and Angeal off to Wutai?”
Zack nodded. “Yeah.” He threw a couple of things into a bag. “I've never really gone into war before.”
“Zack... be careful.” Kunsel stated. “Remember what I said about the mass desertion?”
Zack sighed. “How could I forget.”
“It all started in-.” Kunsel began.
A knock at their door made them all stop as it opened.
“Zack.” Angeal stood there.
“Yeah almost ready Angeal.” Zack replied tossing a couple of extra things into the bag.
Angeal nodded. “Blaize you're in charge of this unit while Zack is gone.”
Blaize blinked. “Me?”
“Try not to get killed buddy.” Zack slapped Blaize on the shoulder.
“Gee thanks. I'll try.” The blonde looked at him with flat eyes.
“I'll watch his back.” Kunsel nodded.
Zack smiled zipping up his bag. “Well see ya when I get back.”
