Chapter 7
Vincent begins his story.
~
" The tale goes back before the deaths of several of my friends. One day I ran into Cid. I heard that Cid hid the airship but found it hard to believe. I found him in New Midgar buying electronic equipment. He seemed to distrust the new company. We talked as I helped him load his stuff on his plane. He briefly told me about hiding the Airship. He then told me about Cloud’s odd behavior and asked me to check up on him.
Days later I finally got in contact with Cloud. Cloud agreed to meet me near a cave near Nibelheim. The day of the meeting I would always remember. I arrived to see some bodies sprawled on the ground. Some of them were Tylunar guards, but others were innocent strangers. Eight bodies total. Nearby was Cloud. He was curled up in a ball on the ground and covered with blood.
I ran to his side, thinking he was injured. There I realized none of it was his blood. He told me that he killed them all. I saw he was in much of pain and tried to help him. He told me the Jenova cells within him were changing him, corrupting his mind. He begged me to kill him for the sake of the world. I fooled myself into believing I could find a cure. That is why I put him in a special coffin and buried it where no one could find him. I told people he died. Yuffie hid the body till I was able to have Cid pick it up. She honestly believed he was dead. Cid Highwind helped me take the coffin to the ancient forest. Only Cid and myself knew the whole truth. That is how the three of us were involved in this deception. I didn’t realize he would be suffering during his stasis. The pain and the corruption twisted his mind. Made it easier for Jenova to take control of him. I didn’t kill him because I was unable to kill a friend. I failed him completely. "
~
Vincent stopped his story.
Nanaki, “You did what you thought was right. There may be chance for him still.
Watching him, I sensed something I can’t put a paw on. . . . ”
Vincent, “But I fear the problem may have been passed down.”
Zackery, “Passed down?”
Nanaki, “You may have some Jenova cells within you. Dormant for now.”
Madnol, “Damn, sorry dude.”
Chancey, “What can we do for Zackery?”
Vincent, “Nothing at the moment.”
Nanaki, “Now that I am aware of this, I will try to help both Zackery and Cloud out. I have an idea and I want to look into it by myself.”
Vincent, “Thanks. . . . I better go see if I can keep track of Cloud.”
Vincent set out right away to try to track Cloud’s movements. After the two funerals, Nanaki set out to his quest. His family take his place watching over the Canyon. The three, on Nanaki’s advice, also stay in the canyon. Days turned into weeks. No word from Vincent or Nanaki. No signs for Cloud or any more victims.
* Thanks to the review I got! Warning, Cloud might get a lil confusing after this point *
