Do YOU know the alphabet?
Rain pummeled on the window as Hiroshi looked out in thought. Carl came up behind him stopping just short of him.
“You think that kid’s gonna bring him back?” Carl questioned.
Hiroshi frowned and turned around and began walking, passing Carl. “I doubt it.” He stopped when he reached his desk a few feet away, the faint glow if the desk lamp barely lighting the room. “Why do you think I fell for him?” He shook his head. “Hmph… that kids’ going to fall for him the same way I did.” He shuffled though some papers on his desk before looking up towards Carl. “We have that kids’ address don’t we?”
“Yeah…” Carl shrugged. “…assuming he filled out everything.”
Hiroshi grinned. “Well then. We can always stop by for a surprise visit.”
~~~~~
“Okay…” A few books fell onto the ground in front of Vincent that Reno carried in. Today, Reno figured, he could teach Vincent the alphabet and possibly read and write. It was going to be a slow process but Reno grabbed some pain relievers just in case. He grabbed one of the books and sat down facing Vincent. “Do you know the alphabet?”
“Hmm?”
“You know… A, B, C’s…”
“Oh! Yeah.” Vincent said, lifting his hand to count off the letters as he rattled them off. “A, B, C, E, G, I, O, R, U, F, Y, and Z.”
Reno stared blankly at Vincent who seemed to recite it with much confidence. “No… um… that’s not right, though I’m impressed that you remembered all the vowels and had the first three and the last two letters right.” Reno opened the book that sat in his lap and pointed out the letters in order and recited them as Vincent repeated. “A… B… C… uhh” He glanced at the book for a brief moment. “… D… E…”
“Don’t tell me you’re teaching him when you can barely say it yourself.”
Reno twisted around as he heard Rude chuckle behind him. “You’re just jealous…”
“Of course I am.” Rude snickered. “Just like how you couldn’t remember how to spell ‘any’.”
“Oh come on! That was seven years ago when I was in 9th grade!” Reno yelled pointing an accusing finger at Rude. “Now shut up so I can teach him.” Rude shook his head grinning as Reno turned back around to a slightly stunned Vincent and continued listing the letters.
After a few hours, Reno closed the book and asked Vincent to repeat it, seeing if Vincent could remember it now after so many failed tries. “Go ahead…” He said, rubbing his temple.
“A, B, C…” Vincent began and continued to list the letters in order in a rhythmic fashion, making no mistakes. “… X, Y, and Z.” He paused as he saw Reno look up completely stunned. “Is that right Master?”
The red head hesitated before throwing his arms up. “Hooray!” Reno squealed like a little school girl and glomping Vincent in the process, who was a little taken back. “Gods… I thought that was going to take forever, but you managed to remember it in a short time!”
“What do you mean Master?” Vincent asked attempting to loosen Reno’s crushing hold of him. Eventually Reno released him from the hug but held his arms.
“I just had the impression that people who are older can’t learn much because their brains are done developing.” Reno said before looking to the side. “Maybe…” He whispered after a thought popped into his head. He eyed Vincent curiously. “You’re not a robot are you?”
Vincent just blinked, obviously having no clue of what Reno was ranting about.
“Reno… people’s brains continue developing until you’re about thirty.” Rude’s voice came from the hallway, who walked into the room overhearing Reno. “It just slows down as you get older.”
“Ah.” Reno said. He glanced over to Vincent who was still baffled. “How about we take a break? Want to try some ice cream?”
Vincent’s face lighted up as Reno mentioned the new food. “What’s ice cream Master?” He said as he sat up from the floor and Reno led him to the kitchen. Red eyes watched as Reno set a container of ice cream on the table, dipped a spoon in it and handed it to him. He grabbed the spoon and put it in his mouth, instantly noticing the coldness of it and how it melted in his mouth. “Mmmm…” Vincent slipped the spoon out of his mouth and before Reno could ask if he liked it, Vincent dipped the spoon in the ice cream, taking another spoonful and placing it in his mouth. Reno chuckled and grabbed his own spoon to dig in.
“That better not be my ice cream you’re getting your germs and spit into.” Rude said peeking around the corner from the hallway.
“You ate all my gummy bears you bastard so tough luck.” Reno grumbled, taking more spoonfuls.
Vincent chuckled as both Rude and Reno eyed each other in a menacing way. “What’s a bastard?”
Reno nearly dropped his spoon and choked on his ice cream that he just swallowed. Rude on the other hand nearly fell onto the floor laughing.
“Hahaha… be careful what you say in front of him, otherwise he’ll learn a few things you don’t want him to.” Rude grinned and walked to the back of the house.
“Like he doesn’t know a few things he shouldn’t already…” Reno mumbled. “Shouldn’t you be at work?!” Reno hollered to Rude.
“Nope, have off all week!” Rude yelled back from a far room.
“Great. Grant. Wonderful.” Reno grumbled as Vincent continued to giggle.
“C’mon, it isn’t all that bad.” Rude said, coming back from his room with a few papers. “Besides, I thought about going to work for a few hours today to look some stuff up about your friend here. Be greatful.”
~~~~~
Awhile later Reno sat on his bed with Vincent, resting after a painful day of writing and nearly getting probed in the nose by a pencil. He was amazed with the progress Vincent had made. Now he was able to write nearly all of the letters and a few words, which was amazing considering he admitted to never writing anything before. But then again, he was able to draw which could have helped some what. Reno sighed and fell back onto his bed, his head sinking into his pillow. Vincent crawled over him concerned. “Are you alright Master?”
Reno could feel his eyebrow twitch. “I’m fine.” He paused before glancing up to Vincent. “Can you stop calling me ‘Master’? It makes me sound like a pervert.”
“But… I’m supposed to call you Master… and you call me Pet.”
“Look…” Reno sighed, rising up again causing Vincent to move back. “I don’t want you to call me Master, okay? Call me Reno.”
“What’s Reno?”
“That’s my name.”
Vincent opened his mouth to say something but Reno cut him off.
“I am not going to call you Pet. I’m going to call you Vincent because that’s your real name. So I want you to call me by my real name. Understood?”
Vincent looked away, comprehending what Reno was implying but unsure of what to say about it. He just wasn’t use to calling someone other than Master. He glanced back as Reno spoke up again.
“I know it’s uncomfortable for you but, I want you to try and eventually you’ll be able to do it without feeling uncomfortable doing it.”
“Okay…” Vincent mumbled. He felt Reno’s arms go around him, holding him close. Vincent wrapped his arms around Reno as well and dug his face into his shoulder. “Are you going to use me tonight Master?” Vincent asked his voice muffled within Reno’s shoulder.
Oh yeah… that’s another point I was going to bring up. He thought, pushing Vincent out slightly so he could see his face. “No more of that either.”
“Why?”
“Like I said before… It’s not right. That’s the reason why you’re hurting in all of those places is because of sex or ‘being used’ so much.” Reno said, pointing to Vincent’s crotch. “I mean… we can have it once in a while but not every night, especially not right now when you’re healing.”
“Okay…”
“Good. Now take your medication and we’ll go to bed and maybe tomorrow go to the park.”
“The park?”
“Yup, I know you’ll have lots of fun there.”

Rude quietly sipped on his coffee as he stood behind a coworker of his. His eyes peeked over his sunglasses as something popped up on the screen of the computer.
“Huh… That’s interesting. Rude, it doesn’t look like this company has even existed any where else. You sure that’s the right name?” His coworker asked, looking over his shoulder.
“That’s what Reno said it was called. Try looking up something about the owner Tseng, if you can even find his name.” Rude replied, leaning over slightly to get a better look at the screen. Tseng nodded and typed and clicked various menus, attempting to find what they were looking for. Luck wasn’t on their side. They couldn’t find anything.
Tseng leaned back in his desk chair and sighed. “I don’t think were going to be able to find anything if we don’t have a name to start with. And who knows if he has any aliases.”
“I’ll ask Reno if he remembers the guy’s name. Thanks Tseng.”
