The sudden screeching sounds of metal crashing against metal caused Rinoa to jump, eyes still streaming. She knew that sitting around crying wouldn’t solve anything, Squall was in trouble, he needed her, and she needed him; so bad it hurt. She was scared and alone, but she had no other options. With Zell on the other side and no way of moving the stones herself she was going to have to accept the responsibility on her own. She kissed the ring she wore around her neck and charged into the training center, not knowing what she might encounter or if she’d even return.
When she entered she was immediately engaged by three grats. Two of which blocked the entrance with their vines. The third was attempting to hit her with a sleep spell from far away. She easily dodged it and hid behind a stone. She cocked her shooting star and loosed it on the third grat. It dodged the initial shot but was caught by the return of the blade. 9999. It shrieked, fell down and withered. The grats blocking the door snapped their vines off and barreled at her, Venus-fly trap mouths agape, attempting to devour her whole. She held her ground, right hand against her left breast. She waited until both were 2 feet in front of her then swung her arm, casting firaga, incinerating the two of them at once.
She checked to see if she had any injuries, she was ok. No hit points lost. Despite her masterful performance, she was really shaken up. Slowly playing back the experience in her mind. she said in a near silent whisper, “I’ve never fought alone. Someone’s always been there for me. But…I think I can do this!” and as the realization of her potential registered, a wide smile exploded across her face.
“I CAN DO THIS!” She shouted to no one in particular.
“Ok, I can do this. But I have to be careful. Those dino things are out here somewhere.”
And as if to confirm her fears an inhuman roar erupted from the opposite end of the training center, followed by a very human scream. Rinoa was taken aback, her newfound confidence fleeting fast. Emerging from behind her hiding spot she slowly crept through the center avoiding the various monsters within.
She snuck through the training center, which proved to be very difficult since the whole place was metal and registered her movements. She cast float and pulled herself along the walls. She could see the wooden plank that would lead her to squall. As she passed by the fallen tree a branch snagged itself on her weapon and broke with a violent snap. She quickly inhaled and paused hoping nothing heard that.
When nothing came she started to move again. But as she rounded the corner, a vine came out of nowhere and caught her upside her head. She was knocked out instantly. All she saw before she passed out was the skittering of hundreds of legs.
Rinoa woke up in her house in Deling city. She jumped up and couldn’t believe it. She hated this place, why was she here? She also noticed that she was naked. As she approached her closet both doors became inexorably tangled in vines. And her sheets had disappeared. She became very frightened and ran to her door and flung it open. There was blood and gore everywhere. But this wasn’t her hallway; this was Trabia Garden.
Horrified she turned to find her doorway gone. She had clothes, but they were ill suited for Trabia’s frigid temperature. A white tank top, and blue shorts, pulled together with white sneakers. Hugging herself, she stepped forward then an explosion knocked her to the floor. Looking around for ground zero she discovered a strange box on the floor next to her. She crawled over to it and picked it up. She reached for the box’s lid and she felt heat coming from it.
Before she could open it a green tentacle burst from inside. She threw the box away from her and got up to run. The box fell and shattered like glass, sending pieces flying. A horrible shriek made Rinoa turn and stare, in place of the box stood a Marlboro. Its poisonous body shaking as its mouth opened and closed menacingly. Rinoa kept running away from it, screaming for help.
The Marlboro sent clouds of its bad breath at her, but she dodged them. As she passed Trabia’s main stage the missile that crashed was still there, but was beeping and blinking. It intensified and finally peaked with a violent hissing. Steam was being released, and as she passed the missile the warhead popped open showering the Garden with Bomb monsters and grats. She didn’t stop, she was running blind, but could not stop.
The bombs began to ram into each other and started swelling to ridiculous proportions. When they were roughly the size of smart cars they flung themselves at Rinoa. They flew kamikaze style directly at her. She always managed to find something to hide behind or an alcove to duck into at the last second, but the shell shock was starting to get to her. Through sheer luck she managed to avoid the explosions, and was approaching what appeared to be an exit. However she noticed that she was getting very tired and was starting to stumble. She glanced back, and the grats were scuttling after her, casting sleep spells en masse.
One such spell caught her square in the back and she staggered before falling flat on her face. The scuttling grats caught up and held her down with their vines as a bomb began to ricochet off of any available surface. Growing to the size of a small planet. Its body was sizzling with energy, and its cruel face broke into a jeer as it spun in the air before ascending sharply.
It hovered about a mile in the air, laughing. Then it back flipped and nose-dived straight at the helpless body of Rinoa. She was kicking and screaming the entire time but they were too strong and she too weak. It came at her full force, screaming like a comet. And right before it collided with her she cried out for squall, but no sound came out. All she heard was its maniacal laugh, as she stared into its glowing yellow eyes.
Even though she should’ve died she realized she was very much alive. She looked around and saw that she was in the desert. Nothing but sand for miles all around her. She was back in her Ice princess outfit, and her weapon was back. She continued to lay on her back, looking into the sun. Remembering the monster’s eye that sun had once been.
A distant rumbling made her sit up, she was drenched in sweat. As she shakily got to her feet, the rumbling came closer. Trying to find a elevated location to survey the area she tripped over a bush partially covered by the sand. Muttering to herself she looked at the flowers. They were a gorgeous shade of pink and white and seemed to be very healthy. She bent over to pick it, but as she did so the rumbling began to resonate from just over a nearby dune.
Suddenly a long segmented body erupted from the sand. It was tipped by an oversized head filled with nothing but teeth, barely leaving room for its useless eyes. It screamed and slammed its head down at Rinoa. Se dodged and loosed her bolt at it. It hit both times. Both shots were 9999, but the creature stood as if she hadn’t hit it at all. Another scream caused the sand to shake and form a whirlpool. Thinking fast she cast float. As she cast float the worm cast tornado, and since Rinoa was floating the wind damage was extensive.

She fell to the ground dry heaving, as the worm closed in. With her last amount of strength she fired another shot. They both missed, but on the return it cut down the bush. The worm poised itself over her. Its mouth was dripping, hungry for meat. As it opened its mouth and prepared to eat her alive, a green-needled foot came crashing down and killed the worm.
The owner of the foot was a giant cactaur! It was furious because someone cut off its bush. It wanted revenge and didn’t care who was guilty. It crunched the worm under its foot and rubbed it into the sand. Turning abruptly and thrusting its arms in Rinoa’s direction it sent a hail of needles at her. 2 actually connected scraping her arms, the others fell behind the dune, landing with a sickening crunch. Something screamed and died.

She looked up at the cactaur. They were usually mild mannered, and never attacked anyone, preferring to run when they could. This one was different. It actively searched for targets, and when it found them, it killed them with extreme prejudice! She was so scared and in so much pain she curled into a ball and her vision began to blur. A small “Squall” escaping her. The cactaur looked in her direction, as if it heard her. It found her and raised its leg. As the cactaur stomped down a massive blade stopped it from crushing her.
She looked up to see a familiar face wielding a gunblade. A familiar face who was 20 stories tall. The cactaur screamed and flung its needles at the Godzilla sized squall. Squall deftly sidestepped, and swung for the monsters head. It ducked and the bush was completely severed. Almost immediately the cactaur began to shrink. And when it was normal size squall stepped on it.
the giant squall picked Rinoa up and blue energy surrounded her. She coughed and doubled over as his healing spell fixed her battered body. When she was well enough she stood up in his palm and waved to him. He looked down at her and smiled. Then he brought her to his mouth and began to lick her. She felt like she was drowning, and once again she passed out.
This time she woke up sprawled on the training center floor, surrounded by dead grats, being licked by Angelo.
