ALL he had meant to do was to get up out of bed and take a piss. Just go to the restroom, take a leak and get back into bed. He’d managed to do two out of three before he heard his name yelled from the direction of Vince’s bedroom. MAYBE it was a protection instinct he held in tact only for the sake of his planes, or maybe it was because, well, he’d never heard the gunman yell his name out QUITE like that. Either way, that was all it took for the half-asleep pilot to sneak up the stairs to stand in front of Vincent’s room. Maybe the man had a nightmare and Cid was in it? What if Vince didn’t have a NIGHTMARE, per say but a dream none the less and Cid was in it? Or MAYBE, and Cid highly doubted this one, it was a DREAM but maybe one of THOSE dreams and Cid was in it?
In any case, he wasn’t quite sure what excuse he was going to use for being at Vincent’s bedroom door at four in the morning in nothing but a pair of boxers. He could always use the ‘I came to see what was wrong’ excuse that would constitute Vincent lying that nothing was; He could use the ‘I heard a noise’ excuse or maybe even the better ‘it’s my damn house, ain’t it?! I can do what I want to!’ excuse he was sure would backfire on him. To his surprise, he really didn’t need an excuse at all. He was about to knock on the door when a deep groan that came from inside stopped his hand and breathing at the same time. It wasn’t a pain groan or a sad crying groan which was a relief, but a sexual groan. A lusty groan. A groan he’d only ever heard Shera and women from really bad pornos make, never men like Vincent. He should just walk away, just turn around and walk away and he was sure he wouldn’t be noticed over all of the (he blushed) noise. But he found it hard to move at all, he almost didn’t dare to breathe as he put his ear to the door just to make sure it was what he thought it was. The groan was promptly followed by deep breathing, several sharp gasps coming clear through the door. Several moans and shifting inside told him all he needed to know as he stood there, staring in disbelief down the hall as he pulled away from the door and looked at it with wide eyes. VINCENT?! Vincent “I’m too stoic for my own good and have been stuck on a woman that’s been dead for thirty years and act dead from the waist down” VALENTINE was getting himself off the next room that was separating the two of them with a three inch door?! Cid pulled himself away, placing his back against it as he tried to put one and two together. He was so busy trying to figure things out he didn’t notice the clicking of the door handle until he fell into the open air, landing straight on his back. “CID?!” The blonde opened one eyes to look straight into the wide eyed, bright red face of Vincent standing over him. He’d seen that kind of look before- it was on the face of a wild animal caught in a trap that knew it. "H-heya, Vince...give a guy a warning next time, huh?” Cid groaned, sitting up as he rubbed the back of his head. He stood up, moving a bit away from Vincent who looked like he wanted to lynch him. “WHAT WHERE YOU DOING OUTS-MMMPH!” Vincent was roughly cut off as Cid slapped a hand over his mouth, ssshing him with a finger to his lips. Cid jerked his head to the side, motioning for the gunman to follow him. It was only inside the garage with the door promptly closed Vincent continued his tirade. “-What- were you doing outside of my door, Highwind!" “Will you STOP yelling, you’ll wake up Shera and BELIEVE me, you do NOT want to wake her up before she’s ready to! She could make Sephiroth cry, I swe-..” “Answer me!” Vincent was entirely aware that his face was as red as his eyes and that he wore only his sleeping pants, but right now he was too angry and too embarrassed to care. The ONE man he hadn’t expected to see outside of his door after his most SHAMEFUL activity was the man he’d had a wet dream about. It didn’t help Cid was standing there in front of him in just a pair of boxers that he swore was too big for him. “It is -FOUR FIFTEEN IN THE MORNING- what were you doing standing outside of my door!" “Well I originally came by the ask you something I couldn’t get off of my mind but was interrupted by your MOANING!” Cid just snapped back, crossing his arms. He just snorted as Vincent’s eyes grew wide again and he cast his face to the ground, his hair covering most of his blush. “LISTEN Vince...you don’t have to act like you just committed one of the seven deadly sins! CHRIST, you’re still a guy, you still have guy needs! It’s perfectly normal, I used to do it all of the time!” “Highwind I didn’t need to know that.” Vincent’s angry look returned along with his embarrassed one. “Vincent, you wanna get yourself off in the middle of the night, I don’t care as long as you wash the sheets the next day! You’re a human, and it’s about time you ACTED like one! If you gettin’ off with my name on your lips is what it takes, do it!” “Who -ever- said I was thinking about you ?" “YOU DID, when you screamed my NAME out! Or was that something you just happened to forget after orgasm?!” By now Cid was glowering as much as Vincent was looking angrier and more embarrassed than before. “I’m flattered, Vince, but-" "Don’t flatter yourself by thinking it was because I was thinking of you. You were the last person, if you remember.” It was a standoff as both men looked at each other, Cid just giving Vincent a disbelieving look while Vincent tried anything to calm himself down. “Listen, Highwind, ther-” “Don’t worry about it, Vince.” “But-” “Don’t worry about it, I told ya!” Cid snapped out, flashing angry blue eyes in the gunman’s direction before softening his voice. “Listen, let’s just go back to bed, alright? It’s way too late to be talking and I gotta get up in a couple of hours anyways. Gotta fly to Junon and pick up Reeve to take ‘em to Edge.” “For what?” "WRO business, what else? I’m hitting the sack, Vince. I’ll see ya tomorrow.” With a shrug Cid turned, opening the garage door. “And -really-, don’t worry about it. I’m just glad you’re alright.” He flashed what smile he could give to Vincent as he walked out of the door to his own bedroom, slipping inside without a sound. Cid slipped back into bed, laying on his side as he stared at his wife’s sleeping form. He wasn’t surprised Vincent had reacted the way he did; hell, he himself would probably punched someone’s lights out if they’d been standing outside of his door at four a.m. listening to him. Cid closed his eyes, trying to get back to sleep as he thought about having to leave that morning. Vincent just watched Cid leave, giving him that small, secret smile he always seemed to reserve just for the gunslinger. All he could see before Cid shut the door on him was that broad, tanned and slightly (he just saw) freckled back and pale blonde hair walking into the darkness. As the door clicked closed, he just leaned back against the car in the garage Cid never seemed to drive anywhere, trying to catch his breath. It wasn’t the yelling that had made him so out of breath so much as the emotions he’d kept pent up during it. Cid had been hitting the nail on the head with every word, and when the pilot was turning to leave he’d dug his nails into the palm of his hand to keep him from asking him not to. Vincent opened the door to the car, sitting down in it as he rested his head back and closed his eyes. He felt like crying. Then again...he felt like he’d be doing a lot of that for a while. ~~~~While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
