Disclaimer: I do not own Final Fantasy XII, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
Author's Note: This is another Vaan/Penelo one-shot, in the same vein as "Cheer Up," my earlier FFXII fic. In fact, this is a loose sequel to that story, although it's not really necessary to read that first. I had thought about doing a larger, multi-chapter story about Vaan and Penelo's relationship over the course of the game, but after realizing I'd either have to type out a lot of the game's script or skip what the game covers, I decided to take what I'd written so far and turn it into this one-shot. Enjoy!
Admiring the View As Balthier steered the skiff away from the Ifrit, the occupants breathed a sigh of relief. They had escaped danger once more, rescuing both the princess of Dalmasca and Penelo from the hands of the Archadian Empire. Everyone was tired, slumping against the sides of the small shuttle. Vaan was still worn out from tough fight against Ghis, but he was quite happy about recovering Penelo. He grinned as he made eye contact with her across the small interior of the skiff, and she returned his grin with a small smile of her own. Vaan had missed Penelo greatly over the last few days; he had grown up with her in the orphanage and saw her nearly every day on the streets of Rabanastre. They'd even started to bond in a more intimate way, just before Vayne came to town and Vaan was swept up in the struggle against the Empire. In short, he loved her, and he knew she loved him back; she'd told him so. Vaan smiled again thinking of that occasion, but his thoughts were interrupted by Balthier. "Attention, passengers. We're arriving at our destination, the fabulous skycity of Bhujerba. When we land, everyone please exit the skiff as we won't be making a return trip. Thank you for flying with us, and we hope you've enjoyed your getaway." Vaan got a glimpse out the cockpit window between Balthier and Fran, who sat in the copilot's seat, and saw that they were indeed in Bhujerba and landing their stolen property in plain view on the platform. The others noticed Balthier's boldness as well. "Don't you think you're being a bit rash, sky pirate?" said Ashe scornfully as Balthier finished touching down. Vaan, Penelo, and Fran all groaned a bit in annoyance as Balthier calmly flicked a few switches to power down the craft before turning to reply. "Life's no fun without risks, Princess. It isn't any fun without wealth, either, so perhaps instead of complaints I could get a reward for your rescue." "You..." Ashe started, before storming off the skiff angrily. The rest of the party followed her, and soon everyone was out on the landing platform. "We need to leave before anyone sees us," said Ashe, walking toward the aerodrome without waiting for anyone to follow her. After a moment's hesitation, Basch and Vossler followed closely, the rest of the party further behind. The sun was beginning to set, and Balthier glanced at a nearby clock once they were inside the aerodrome. As the party passed through and entered the city proper, Balthier said, "It's getting late, and we should relax a bit before meeting with the Marquis again." He started off toward a nearby bar, Fran beside him. "Wait, where are you going to be?" asked Vaan. "Having a bit to drink. But you kids should get some sleep." Balthier pushed open the door to the bar and he and Fran went inside. "Hey! We're not kids!" Vaan yelled. Penelo giggled at his outburst, and he turned to look at her. "You haven't been to Bhujerba before, have you? Want to walk around, see the sights before finding a place for the night?" "Sure," Penelo replied. "But it's not like you're an expert. Maybe we should get a guide or something," she continued jokingly. Seeing Vaan's reaction, she hastily said, "Hey, I'm only kidding! Come on, let's go." She took his hand, and the two were off. Vaan realized Penelo was right about him not knowing the city, so he walked in what he thought was the general direction of Lhusu Square, intending to show her the entrance to the mines he and the others had fought through with Lamont, or Larsa... whatever he wants to call himself, Vaan thought. Thinking about Larsa, he remembered encountering him with Penelo on Ghis' airship. "So, what was Larsa like?" he asked. "He tagged along with us when we were looking for the nethicite here, but he called himself Lamont." Penelo thought for a bit before answering. "He seemed like a decent enough person. I mean, he made sure nothing happened to me, and he helped us escape." "Yeah, but he probably had some hidden motive for that. I don't trust-" Vaan was cut off by a nearby Bhujerban. "Hey, 'Captain Basch!' Killed any kings lately?" The man was obviously joking, having heard Vaan claiming to be Basch earlier, but it was the wrong thing to say to Vaan. His good mood vanished, a mental image of Basch killing his brother flashing through his head as he slammed the still-laughing man against a wall. Vaan had intended to say something, but couldn't find the words. Realizing he was just taking out his anger at the Empire on the man, he let him go, apologizing with a soft, "Sorry." The Bhujerban just stared at him for a second before quickly walking away, muttering something under his breath. Vaan turned to Penelo, his face burning as he realized he'd just made a fool out of himself in front of her. "Sorry..." he said again, this time to Penelo. "What he said, it just reminded me of Reks." "It's okay..." she said, though a bit frightened by Vaan's behavior. She almost never saw him this way; usually he was sad, not angry, when something reminded him about his brother. "But why did he call you Basch?" she asked, not understanding how the Bhujerban could mistake Vaan for someone nearly twice his age. "I had to pretend to be Basch to get a meeting with the Marquis. We couldn't let anyone know that Basch was actually alive, so I ran around saying I was Basch and got the attention of the Resistance." Vaan sighed dejectedly, but his mood brightened a bit when he looked around and saw that they were in Lhusu Square, standing by the small fountain in the center while a vendor in the corner hawked his wares. "Well, at least we're here. This is what I wanted to show you." Vaan walked over to a railing overlooking the entrance to the mines, pointing. "Apparently they closed the mines down because of all the monsters. From what we had to fight in there, it was probably a good idea." "It's beautiful..." said Penelo. Vaan looked around, not sure what she was talking about. Night had fallen, and the entrance to the mines was shrouded by shadow, giving it a sinister look. However, framing the eerie scene was the backdrop of the star-studded night sky. Taken together, the two elements indeed created a memorable sight. Leaning against each other, Vaan and Penelo were content to simply stand there admiring the view. After several minutes, Vaan broke the silence, softly saying, "We should probably find some place to stay tonight. I'm sure everyone else has already." Penelo nodded. "I think I saw an inn coming here, back that way." She pointed to the entrance to the sqaure. Vaan followed Penelo's lead, the two still holding hands as they walked back the way they had come. "Ah, there it is," said Penelo, indicating a nearby building. Going inside, Vaan was relieved to see that the inn was a decent one, in clean shape and staffed by a bored looking clerk who brightened up when she saw them. "Welcome! Rooms are fifty gil a night. Checking in?" she said perkily. Vaan nodded and paid the clerk. "Okay, your room's down that hall, fourth door on the left. Enjoy your stay!" The room was a bit small, but it didn't really matter; they'd just be staying one night. There were two beds, and Vaan and Penelo each sat down on one, Vaan taking off his shoes. Vaan knew they should get some sleep - odds were they'd be needing it - but there was a certain feeling, like something was unfinished, in the air. They were alone, after all. "Um, Penelo..." Vaan awkwardly started. "Why don't you, uh, come over here?" Wow, that was a terrible invitation... Penelo was still for a moment, then nodded. She got up and moved to sit next to Vaan, who put his arm around her waist, pulling her close as she looked up a bit at him. Vaan kissed Penelo softly, enjoying the feel of her lips. Penelo did something unexpected just then, parting his lips with her tongue. The kiss intensified as the two's tongues danced, Vaan hugging Penelo more tightly. She leaned back onto the bed, pulling Vaan on top of her as the they continued to make out. Slowly, an aroused Vaan began to thrust lightly against Penelo; though they were both still fully clothed, he'd become hard just kissing her. Vaan broke their kiss, drawing his lips along Penelo's neck, planting new kisses as he went. She stopped him briefly to remove her one-piece suit and undo her bra, leaving her in just her panties and boots, breasts revealed to Vaan. He took no time in moving his lips to them while still holding Penelo in an embrace. Penelo threw her head back as Vaan took one of her nipples in his mouth, moving his tongue around it and sending waves of pleasure through her. Wanting more, she moved his hand to her crotch, sliding off her panties. Almost as an afterthought, she kicked off her boots as well. It was the first time Vaan had seen Penelo completely naked, and he drew away to take in the sight of her smooth, soft body lying beneath him. His eyes moved down her, taking her in before moving down to her pussy. Vaan was a bit intimidated, not sure how to please Penelo, but wanting to do so and trying to ignore his own need. "Uh, Penelo-" he began to ask before she cut him off. "Just touch me..." she sighed. Vaan obliged, tracing a finger along the outside of her folds before gently pushing it into her. Penelo moaned softly, so Vaan assumed he was doing all right. He began to move his finger around inside her, rubbing gently and soon inserting a second finger. Penelo began to breathe a bit faster, making Vaan even harder than he had been before. The pressure in his pants had become unbearable, and he clumsily took them and his underwear off with his free hand, giving his erection plenty of space. Vaan returned his full attention to Penelo, stroking her faster and feeling her pussy grow damp around his fingers. Her fingers clutching the bedspread, Penelo came with a loud moan. Vaan kept rubbing her for a bit longer, then removed his fingers, which glistened with Penelo's juices. He started to kiss his way back up Penelo's body, his manhood brushing against her thigh as he leaned over her. "Was that good?" he asked, hoping he'd done okay. "Mmm...yes," answered Penelo. Looking at Vaan, she noticed his hard cock, neglected while he'd given her pleasure. She reached out and took it in her hand, kissing Vaan as she stroked his member. Vaan closed his eyes in pleasure, knowing he wouldn't last long. He started to thrust into Penelo's hand, coming into her palm about a minute later as he sighed her name. Penelo wiped her hand off on the bedsheets as Vaan moved away from her, leaning against the headboard. She moved up to sit next to him, and the two kissed again, briefly, before getting under the covers. As they settled in for the night, Penelo giggled a little bit. "What?" asked Vaan. Penelo pointed to the covers, where Vaan's still semi-hard cock made a small tent. "You have a dirty mind, you know that?" said Vaan, wrapping his arm around Penelo. Still laughing a bit, Penelo replied, "Hey, I think it's cute! Its like it decided to camp out for the night!" That was just too absurd for Vaan. He burst out laughing, wondering where she came up with something like that. Vaan was tired, though, and soon he stopped laughing and started to fall asleep. He glanced over at Penelo, and saw she was doing the same. The room dark and quiet, Vaan started to drift off, until- "Vaan?" "Yeah?" "...I love you." "Love you too." With that, Vaan fell into sleep's welcoming embrace. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
