The Wonders of Tea

Cid was grating on his last nerve. Again. Admittedly, this was something that Vincent had grown used to. In fact, he'd come to see it as a sort of way of life not long after joining Cloud on his little endeavor to save the world. It was probably his own fault, too, as he'd made the choice to room with Cid at every single stop they made. He hadn't understood his reasons for doing so, not at the start, but it had slowly become more and more clear to him.

He loved Cid.

But, seriously. How could someone complain so much, so often? And half of the time over things that Vincent couldn't even begin to understand the reasons behind. Such as...tea. Yes, running out was certainly an annoyance, but only if they were stranded in the middle of nowhere. But when in a town, like now, what could really be the trouble? Running out to get more, or bribing someone to do it, could definitely be a burden, but still...it wasn't like it was life or death.

Furthermore, Vincent couldn't fathom the pilot's love of tea, anyway. He'd tried it on a few occasions and there wasn't anything particularly fascinating about it. He found it sweet, but overall fairly bland. Maybe it was just the fact that he wasn't who he used to be anymore, since he was pretty sure he'd liked it in the past. And, of course, you couldn't say you didn't like tea to Cid. That only invited more stomping, swearing and general fit throwing.

Sometimes it was hard to believe Cid was a grown man.

Vincent was snapped sharply from his thoughts when strong arms latched onto his shoulders and gave him a firm shake, rattling him slightly from where he'd been standing, arms folded, and as far as anyone else would have been able to tell, brooding. He blinked a few times, noticing the overly angry male he'd just been musing about standing in front of him. Clearly he was the one that had opted to disrupt his thinking time.

"...Yes?"

"Goddamn it, Vince!" Cid fumed, as usual. "Haven't you been listening to a damn thing I've been saying for the last ten minutes!?"

"..." Vincent shrugged. Obviously not.

"GODDAMN IT! I told you to go and get me tea! I ran out, damn it!"

Vincent stared at him, blinking crimson eyes slightly again. Cid had to be kidding. He had to be. Of all the other times he'd asked, Vincent had given him the same answer; no. He didn't much like being around people anymore, unless he had to be, so he was hardly going to walk down and find a shop to buy tea from. Talk about sticking out and inviting all of the stares.

"..." Vincent shook his head, still without a word, to decline the notion.

"SON OF A BITCH!"

Vincent watched from his spot as Cid's fuming only got worse and the pilot went storming from the room, no doubt to find another hapless victim that would do the task for him; probably Cloud, as Cloud was always too nice. Vincent just sighed, leaning back against the wall, slouching his tall frame.

No, he'd never understand Cid, his tea love, his many complaints...or much else about him, really. But even despite it all, there remained something he'd never be able to forget, as well. Something way more important than all of the bad things; not that they were that bad, when he thought about it.

He loved Cid. Cid loved him.

He didn't need anything else to make sense.
