"Imari?" Squall said to get the visitor's attention.
They just left the small patch of forest, arriving back at the rented vehicle. Squall wanted to clear some more things up before they returned to the apartment. His heart is light, beating rapidly, he can't have those softly spoken words be some fancy deflection of the too slow end to all of this distance. This chapter in their lives needs to come to a conclusion, just as abruptly as Irvine's presumed death. It took one person to end it all. And it should be at the same pace that Imari fade away and Irvine come back.
"We need to behave as Irvine and I would.. I know it's gonna be weird, and make us both uncomfortable, but it could be a necessary aid in recovering your memory." He locked eyes with the man, but in the dark they are merely facing each other; any clarity able was brought by the moon, and it dimly stayed out of it. "We've gotten to know you, we even like you, but we want Irvine. And, as I'd said before, it's nothing personal. It's just the most logical situation."
"I know. I don't know what more you want from me."
"We need to share a bed, share a life... starting tonight... And, if I happen to hold you, don't push me away." He confessed quietly. "You are mine, and I'm yours. You can't keep pushimg me away, it hurts too much. Being apart from Irvine when he's right before me, is weakening my sanity." He swung out his arm in gesture. "You kissed me back there. I wanted to feel Irvine like the other night. But it was only you. And I know you would have no way of mimicking his affection for me.. But try. Try just by being affectionate."
Imari nodded.
"You keep saying all this flashes and occasions are nothing. You're wrong. They're Irvine... Please stop holding him back."
Figuring now is as good a time as any, Imari wrapped his arms around the emotionally beaten lion. Unsure of what to say, he just held him until he was sure the storm in Squall's heart calmed down. "I'm sorry. I'll do my best."
The pair went home full of thoughts and feelings. The apartment was quiet inside. Kait was asleep, and Quistis was on the sofa in the living room, reading a book Squall had bought and finished reading long ago. She informed him that she was taking it with her, then bid them a good night; after quickly reminding Squall to speak with Kait, and soon.
He gave a nod and closed the door.
The pair, awkward to start, went through their nightly routine before retiring, together, in Squall's bedroom.
Squall touched his boyfriend's shoulder, and with a lean he quickly kissed his lips before wishing him a good night.
Imari, with just a slight hesitancy, kissed Squall in return.
Neither spoke after settling in. They just closed their eyes and awaited sleep.
5:47 am. Two months later.
Imari Karver sat in the kitchenette; pen in hand, pad of paper set on the countertop. He's practically working his bottom lip into a bloody massacre trying to figure out what is the meaning behind a sentence that continuely runs through his mind since that day he was hugged by Selphie Tilmitt.
Say my name.
Whose name, though? He has two: Imari Karver and Irvine Kinneas. But neither has worked. Not even saying them backwards. So, why? Why does he continue to hear this sentence? Tapping a pen to the pad of paper, he rests his forehead down on his forearm; sadness spread as his expression, as if to take up permanent residence on his face.
He heard the yawn before registering that someone else was in the room with him. Straightening up, he turned a bit in his seat to see Squall standing by the couch, hand coming up to rest on his hip. Smiling; he can hear himself tell the young man that he looks handsome when he's delirious and desheveled. However, Squall wouldn't believe that it came from him, he will chalk it up to something Irvine says and move on. Squall can never understand his crush on him, as weird as it is, that kiss before in Winhill... it really stirred something inside of him, and it hasn't been able to calm down since his coming to live with the Leonharts.
"What are you doing?" He asked while walking closer to the table to take a seat. Seeing that the notebook paper has nothing but his and Irvine's names written in random orders he cocks a brow then looks at the amnesiac to ask with a little more intention. "What are you doing?"
"Trying to figure something out." He reached out a hand touching Squall's bed-head hair; smiling when his hand is nuzzled into.
"What? How to spell your name? I think you've covered it." He smirked cheekily.
"Ha ha." Though he mocked annoyance, his smile from earlier has not yet faded.
These feelings for Squall must be Irvine's. This urge that as ordered he shouldn't fight. But, still, he's frightened for his existence if he does not. Suddenly sober, he removed his physical contact, then looked at the paper.
"Do you remember that day I asked you to say our names?"
"Yeah. You never explained why it was necessary or what you were trying to do."
"I keep hearing this sentence over and over again... like a dull whisper. "Say my name" it says."
"...Say your name? Maybe its not something you have to write down." He looks the amnesiac over.
"Yes, I've tried it - numorous times! But still I get no relief..."
"Maybe you have to be in a certain place - maybe the place where you had the accident."
"Winter Island?"
"Possibly, or the place where you fell from the cliffs."
He shrugged out his hand, coming off very much like Irvine. "It's worth a shot." Imari looked down at the name heavy sheet of paper. It's as if the owners were playing a game to see who could write their name the most times to be declared the winner.
"We'll go tomorrow then, but after the picnic. Kait and the girls are really looking forward to it. We can get down to business later."
"About Kait... he seems to have changed since I first came here. He seems a bit put-off by me."
"How do you mean?"
"When you're at work and we're alone, it's like he'll act as though I'm not in the room; he barely speaks to me now." Imari felt awful. He doesn't want to think he'd done something wrong. "You don't think that he's upset by my staying here - it is your guys house. I'm just a guest."
"He may not be used to having you around all the time, but he'll get there. To a kid.. two months is a long time. And to have a guest staying and making the usual daily things new, is out of the ordinary. He'll get used to you being here, though. I promise."
"I hope so."
"Trust me. Just talk to him about it - kid terms - so he understands." He's already had a talk with Kait about Imari being around. His son understood, but he still seemed down. But, as he believes, he will come around.
"Okay."
With an affirmed nod, Squall stood from his seat; taking Imari's chin into his finger tips he pulled the hidden sniper to him placing a feather soft kiss to his lips. "For Irvine." He then pat the amnesiac on the shoulder before exiting into the hall.
Imari watched him go, knowing that his night torture would soon be underway again as he climbed into bed next to a very taken Squall Leonhart, holds him close, only to daydream about being loved by him while the young soldier sleeps away in his arms. Squall said that he couldn't help wanting to be close to his boyfriend, and that refused to sleep with his son any longer. He wasn't joking. A lot of things have changed since he'd first came to live with the family.
The gang treated him nicer - minus Seifer, who acts like he won't be pleased with his being around until he can give him a good solid punch in the face - which isn't going to happen, if Imari can help it. Then there's Kait, who was once his best young friend, was now acting as though Imari is an intruder. But why? On top of this bizarre riddle of names. Maybe its all in his head, or maybe he should just stop caring?
Kait and Squall entered the kitchen together, headed for the stove, chanting "Pancakes! Pancakes!". His smile restored itself enjoyment over Squall's duality. The man could be that fierce military commander and he can flipside to devoted father and friend, who makes funny commentary, or joins in on a teasing 'dog pile'.
Imari said "good morning" to Kait, who greeted him upon seeing him, but focused in on helping his dad make breakfast. He watched them, thinking about his heart back in Winhill. His want for a family of his own. What if he never recovers Irvine Kinneas. Would Squall accept him? Love him? Could he and Kait be his family? The one, though not exact, that he's always wanted?
The next day. The Orphanage gang and Rinoa are having the planned picnic out on the breezy fields of Alcaud plains.
Its nice seeing everyone dressed down, and not behaving in minute ways like elite officials as they act when he visits the military school with Kait; his full time babysitting job. Everyone is relaxed and having fun; Zell's teaching Kait some kicking and punching techniques; the girls are braiding each others hair while chatting away; Seifer is lying on his back having a smoke, his head turned watching his boyfriend; and Imari and Squall are stading out on the field together; getting along better than he thought they would in the beginning. Squall is not by any means an easy character to peg. He is a young man with many layers.
"Casting magic is simple," informs Squall. "You just have to speak the words and focus on the effects coursing through you so that you can cast them out. It's a pain at first, but it gets to be nothing after a while."
"You sure about that?" Imari inquired, looking out to the wide open field before them. "I don't wanna flip out like that last time."
"You won't. I promise." Holding Imari's arm up. "Irvine always does this to cast magic." He moves the novice's limb around for him. "It should work alright, if you do that."
When his arm was released Imari repeats the movement on his own. "Simple enough. What spell should I cast?"
"Something harmless, try Regan."
"Regan? What does that do?"
"Its like using a potion over and over - keeps your stamina going during a battle, and your less likely to faint or get quickly knocked out if the enemy frequently strikes you." He explained it absently. Pulling Imari down a bit he whispers the spell into his ear not knowing the haste it naturally cast upon Imari's pulse.
He's really not sure if it's due to Irvine or himself. But he really needs to stop being into Squall Leonhart. Two months is a long time to be by someone's side. Being lightly treated as that person's boyfriend. It's going to make it hard to want to leave. To allow Irvine to stick once he's on the surface. He mentally shook his head. Focus, Karver. Taking a deep breath Imari chants the words quietly.
Off to the side, the girls watch with interest. Seifer and Zell are playing with Kait, doing hand-stands and other acrobatic activities.
Squall cocked his head then says softly. "Don't forget the movement."
Imari nods. Starting the spell over, he can feel something crackling in his gut. 'Guide it out with your movement.' He does the action and sure enough the spell is cast. Opening his eyes he watched a blue light flow around him. "Ahaha! I did it!"
Selphie screeched with glee. "Good job, Imari!" She waved.
"Thanks." He suddenly feels shy.
"It doesn't hurt or anything?" Asked Squall.
"Its kind of itchy."
Chuckling, he pat him on the shoulder. "It'll wear off, Time spells usually do." He turned his head when the large bird came to land on his shoulder. "Hey."
Imari watched Pal for a moment, his dual colored eyes almost fixated too intensely on his feathered best friend. Being around the bird lately had been so weird. It's as if its talking to him, and not like a man would speak to an animal, but like Pal is really talking to him. Say my name. Yesterday's troubles resurfaced now.
'Is it Pal's name? How can he know its name if he named it? Its just an animal, plain and normal.' ...But he has to wonder about that since even animals must name their babies something. It's just not possible for animals to be as intellegent as they are and not name their babies. Example of that is the fact when he first saw the bird... It was his friend sure, but "Pal"? The name just sort of came to him. Imari honestly thought that he'd put thought into it but thinking back - which was always such a wonderful feeling - he named the bird from a small whisper he'd heard in his ear.
'What are you trying to tell me? What is your name?' He wondered.
"Lunch time!" Called the spunky female brunette.
"Can I have jelly?" Kait's voice sounded after.
Concentration broken, Imari shook his head. Grabbing Squall's arm as he starts to retreat, he leaned down to whisper to him. "I think I know what's going on."
"What do you mean?"
"With me and Irvine."
"Yeah, he lost his memory and you were born." He said it very shrug-of-the-shoulders. "It'll come back. You only need to continue having familiar things introduced to you. We said we'd go south after the picnic."
"No, but maybe there's more to it."
"Daddy, come sit by me!" Called Kait.
"I'm coming." Pulling his arm free; he says to Imari. "It will come to you. Just don't worry about it. You've been having more and more moments that are Irvine lately. It's working."
Squall walks away; Pal is still on his shoulder looking as though it were actually smiling, and not very kindly.
Lunch was a great spread: potato salad with onion and crab meat, deviled eggs, fried chicken, and a pile of sandwiches. Some are meat, some jelly - for Kait and whomever else may like one - and a large container of lemon flavor instant tea. They're sitting on a large picnic blanket with smiling suns splattered all over it; the napkins were no less themed, decorated with little boys or girls doing summer activities. Kait got a kick out of them, so Selphie felt that she's done her job.
They talked together, and over each other about nothing special and a few things of semi-importance. Seifer declared that he wants another match with Squall; Kait spoke of how he can stand on his head now; Zell announced that he's taking cooking classes because he wants to get an apartment with Seifer - which the taller blond didn't have a clue about until right then, so their casual picnic into a small celebration for the two.
Kait, for some reason, thought that that meant Seifer and Zell were going to live with them like Imari is. The ex-knight quickly wiped that image from the boy's mind with a sound: bleh!
Selphie asked Zell if she could take cooking classes with him? It would be a good skill to better herself, since she's reaching the age to move out of the Garden dorms as well. He replied with an enthusiastic: "sure". Rinoa spoke about being asked to lead the yoga class next week, and she can't wait; lately they've been doing routines that she was not very fond of, so now it's her turn to really enjoy herself. Quistis said she had no new news, but work has been growing lately due to new recruits. And she'd like to take a nice long vacation, possibly to Dollet or Winhill.
"You could stay at my place." Imari offered.
"Thank you, Imari. I might do that."
Seifer rolled his eyes. He really can't stand the man, or that flea bitten bird of his.
Kait listened to the adults talking; passing food to Jojo once in a while.
Selphie noticed the jewelry in Imari's ears then looked to Zell. "You did a really good job with those earrings, Zell. It looks like you got them from a jewelry store."
"Second life, right?" The fighter preened from the compliment.
Selphie laughed. "Yeah. What kind of stone is that?"
"Wind stone from Shumi." Imari replied. "I picked one up when I went to visit around the third of this month."
"Oh."
Seifer clenched his fist. "Enough! How can you sit and talk to this imposter as though you don't want him gone!?"
"Seifer." Warned Quistis.
"No. I'm sick of it." Snapped the fed-up ex-knight. "It's been damn near three months, and you're all acting as though nothing will change, but you're fine with it."
"We don't wanna over stimulate Imari, so calm down." Rinoa tried her best.
But Seifer shook his head. "Let's go, Karver," He mocks the man's name out. "you and me."
Standing, Imari says. "Fine. You seem like you won't be satisfied with me until you've gotten in a good swing or two. Let's get it over with."
"Imari, you don't have to fight him - this is just how Seifer ac-..."
"Shut up, Leonhart!" He cuts him off. "I don't need you explaining to people who I am."
The two duelists walk a distance away, not wanting the battle to spread out and hit someone on accident.
"Squall, stop them!" Shrieks Rinoa in sincere worry.
"What for? Imari was right, Seifer won't be satisfied until he gives him a few blows to the head. May as well let him do it." Besides, thought Squall, they aren't children. A scuffle wasn't going to kill either of them when they're all soldiers.
"Who knows, Imari might get in a few swings." Chimed Zell, getting comfortable for the fight. He latched onto a bag of potato chips.
"Men are sick," Declared Quistis. "I give up." Her hands go into the air.
The wind blew gently picking up almost for atmosphere; it was like something out of a movie. But their actions weren't; Imari just put up his fist waiting for the encounter; Seifer moved in on the amnesiac young man but before he could finish the act of raising his fist. Imari gave one quick swing after side-stepping the aggressive blond, causing him to end up sprawled out on the ground from a hit to the cheek.
Hearing Squall snicker only fanned the flames of his anger. Seifer sprang back up and tried for Imari again, but again, Imari stepped out of the way.
"Maybe you should stop trying so hard to hit me, then you might actually do it." Taunts the brunet to the bully.
"Shut up!"
Imari only laughed, taunting Seifer further. The blond charged forward raising his fist, only to be evaded again and again.
"The Shumi tribe taught me that fighting isn't ever necessary if the adversary runs himself ragged." Comments the man.
Seifer, poised to punch as he ran towards Imari instead dropped onto his side and slid over the grass; one hand on the ground to brace him from going completely between his opponents legs, he scissored them outward throwing his opponent off balance knocking him onto his butt.
"Now I've got you." He used their positions to assist in his next attack by grabbing onto Karver's shoulders, and with a quick time he thrust his knee up under the human Shumi's chin. His weight landed over the fallen opponent; Seifer then showers his fist down on the hated visitor, almost as if was a muscle, bone, and skin meteor shower. Hyne it felt good when each hit came into contact with the imposter's familiar face.
"Stop them!" Quistis stood to go and do so herself.
It wasn't until Imari's lip split open that the man had had enough; the air shifted and Seifer's rapid punched slowed considerably to allow the beaten man to grab the blond's fist, one in each hand, Imari then jerks the bully forward so that they're face-to-face.
Seifer's eyes went wide with a mometary panic. "What the fuck are you..?" He muttered before his facial muscles tighten and freeze the stunned angry expression in place.
The others watch now with more curiousity than before. What are those two doing?
"You'd better not be making-out over there!" Called Zell knowing how amped up a battle makes his blood crazed lover. Seifer once confessed to wanted to screw Squall after a particularly good spar.
"I don't think that's what they're doing..." Squall took one step forward.
Everyone can feel it, the shift of magic in the air. But who is it coming from. Seifer isn't stupid enough to cast a fire spell that close to someone - well, he is, but he wouldn't do it to a friend, no matter who occupies his body. Before they could get any closer Seifer shoved up from the ground and Imari is on him like a school of piranha attacking a helpless fish - why isn't Seifer fighting back? Maybe it's not that he won't but that he can't! The ex-knight might have come up from the ground, but he isn't moving at all.
"A Stop spell?" Zell is the first to say. "Does Imari even know how to cast one of those?"
"I've seen him act like this once before..." Says Squall. "in June, we were cleaning the house... Imari was moving around like he was on crack or something. It was Haste, but what I don't understand is how he cast it on himself. He was not junctioned then... He doesn't have a Stop spell on himright now."
"Maybe the magic in him is seeping out again." Selphie offers.
"No. I asked his team after that first time, if they knew what magics he had on, and they were the basics minus what was junctioned into his gun."
"Then how...?" Quistis, as well as the others, are silenced as a spell breezes past them.
Dispel casted by Squall, who junctioned some to use while he and Irvine tested spells, coiled around Seifer's frozen and battered body unfreezing him. The ex-knight lands on his back, legs in the air kicking the rushing imposter in the stomach, tossing him over his body.
"Seif' you all right!" Calls his boyfriend.
"I am, but Imari won't be." Muttered the embittered while pulling out a dagger. Stalking over to his target, who's taken a nasty landing and is now nursing a pained shoulder looks up in time to see Seifer moving in on him, raising the dagger over his head he brings it down swiftly.
Pal was in the man's face instantly, flapping and squawking, clawing at his face with its talons. Seifer swung the weapon wildly as he stepped back away from the animal, hoping it will back off. However, in all his trying to defend himself he took a slice into the bird. Pal cried out landing in the grass in a heap.
"Fucking animal!" Seifer spat. "I hate animals!"
"That's enough Seifer." Snaps Squall at Imari's side. "You've done enough, you win."
"I won't win until that asshole is out of our lives." He looked over to Zell, who has joined him at his side.
"Party's over." Declared Rinoa exasperated.
"How come they're fighting?" Asked Kait after removing his face from being tucked against Rinoa, who'd wrapped her arms around the four year old to shield him from the unnecessary violence.
"Because men are idiots." The dark haired young woman starts to clean up their picnic.
"Oh."
Squall noticed blood on his boyfriend. He raised Imari's green shirt from his chest to assess the damage, he sees a long slice that's healing from the Regan he had cast earlier. It's weird, though, because he can't remember seeing Seifer land any cuts on him, it was Pal that got...
'It couldn't be...' Thinks Leonhart, his mind going into soldier mode.
Imari moved away from Squall in a hurry to tend to his injured pet.
'What Imari was trying to tell me before... Did he mean that it's Pal? ...The G.F. at the battle four years back.. could it be that bird?'
The elements seemed to wanna wash away the tarnish put on the beautiful day, the clouds opened up a sudden rain shower with a roll of thunder but lacking lightning. They all went their seperate ways after packing up; except Squall doesn't go home, he decided to head to Garden to do some research at the library. It gave Imari the perfect chance to speak with Kait about his staying with them.
Bringing the child a cup of juice, he took a seat beside him on the couch looking down at the tablet he set up so the boy can watch a video. After ten minutes of silence he asked softly. "Do you hate me, Kai? Have I done something wrong to make you angry at me?"
Hearing his name shortened the boy looked over at the guest. "No. I'm not mad. I'm curiuts."
"Curiuts?"
Feeling misunderstood he tries again. "I'm wondering."
"Oh, you're curious. What are you curious about?"
"If you like my daddy and if you like me, than how come you're not staying?"
Imari said nothing as he tried to make sense of the sentence. "You're afraid that I can't like both of you together?"
Kait shook his head.
"You're afraid that I might go home?"
Again Kait shook his head. "I saw, one time, you kissed my daddy before bed.. and it made me feel funny." Admitting that seemed hard for him, causing him to use Jojo suddenly as a shield against his chest. Protection for his heart.
"Ooooh, I see. You're curious about how you and your father will get along with me around?"
He nods but then shook his head yet again.
"Trust me, Kait, your daddy does not love me like he loves you. None of the others do either." Imari swallowed hard as that creeping feeling started rising in him again. "I'm here because of how I look."
"But you were kissing like Seifer and Zell kiss, not like daddy kisses me."
"Mm. I don't know if your dad told you or not, but, he and Irvine are like Seifer and Zell; if I... if Irvine hadn't had that accident.. then you would have grown up with the two of them instead of it just being Squall."
"But what if I don't want two daddy's, cause I like my daddy?" He starts to softly cry; more tears than sounds. "I'm confused and it's scary."
That broke Imari's heart. Pulling the kid into his arms he hugs him. "As long as I'm around that isn't going to happen for a very long time. I actually have a home, I don't have to stay here."
"But daddy already said that he likes you here."
Imari laughed. "He likes that I cook, clean, and play with you without complaint or need of payment. But he doesn't mean that he likes me personally. Here," He pulled a handkerchief from his pocket. "blow your nose on this."
He took the cloth and blew his nose, then pulling it back for a breath he then blows again before handing it back running a hand across his face. "But what about when you remember Irvine? Will daddy like you then?"
"He loves Irvine, that's a fact, but... Kait, Irvine loves you too - just as much as your daddy. In fact, Squall told me that it was Irvine who'd found you all alone up in a tree, and he loved you instantly. He even named you." His tone saddened. "But Irvine had to leave for a mission shortly after those happy days. He unfortunately got very hurt during that misdion, and he couldn't remember where he lived or who he was. Everyone thought that he was asleep forever, but he was only lost"
Kait's big blue eyes blink thoughtfully as he hears the story from a different perspective. He's heard it, but only somewhat from his father as a tale with many holes.
"One day, then another and another, Irvine was luckily seen by a young boy."
"Me?"
"Yup." He smiled. "And you liked him; at first you were curious, maybe a little nervous, but then you called him friend..."
"Are you the friend?"
"I am. And you like me, don't you?"
Kait nods.
"You used intuition. You could sense that I'm a good person..." he placed his hand to his own chest. "And you'll know if Irvine is a good person or not when you meet him."
"Do you think that Irvine will like me? He doesn't know me now... I'm a whole huge boy. And I don't know him, what if it's too new?"
Imari was shocked that a four year old could think so deeply. He thought at that age it was all games, junk food, and animals. Anyone introduced to you was to be believed as a good person. "He'll like you; and going by the way everyone talks about him, you'll like him too. He seems like a good guy. I bet he'll remember you, even if you're your dad's age."
He looked impressed by that. His dad's pretty old. Look at how tall he is! He must be aged a lot. But still... "I hope so. Imari, where will you go?"
"Where Irvine is."
"Where is he?"
"It's cold there, very cold... So, I'll go home to Shumi village."
"To live with the yellow mens?"
"Yeah, to live with the yellow mens." Resting his cheek atop his head he points to the screen. "Let's watch the movie, okay?"
"Okay."
He was glad there was a distraction because doesn't want his young friend seeing him cry.
At Balamb Garden.
Computer screen glowing in his face, Squall looked over the old history information that's been uploaded onto the net, hoping that he'll find what he's looking for. So far all that's coming up are the usual Guardian Forces and their information: Quezcotl, Shiva, Ifrit, Siren and so on. He needs to see a more in-depth list, further back, possibly to ancient times. There's got to be a reason that bird was with Irvine. It's got to be a G.F.
The talking that Imari is hearing could be either coming from Irvine or from the Guardian spirit. Typing in a date he sees that no information can be found. Trying another further up in the years, and then another the screen opened up in the 1800's. Scrolling down the information he reads:
"In ancient times magic was forbidden; anyone involved in using such a thing was immediately killed or forced by the ruling Empire into slavery to use in the great war taking place. Seeking power, the Empire searched the lands discovering a group of magic users that were not humans, but creatures. They called them Espers."
"Espers?" He repeats the word. Continuing on, he felt near to solution.
"The creatures were highly intelligant. They could even speak and understand human language and mannerisms." Clicking on a link below brought the names and types of creatures. "Shiva of ice, a beautiful woman"
Looking over the picture of an ice cold woman with light green hair, he can't help but compare it to his own era's Shiva. There's also an Ifrit, with some similarities to their own. But the rest were vastly different. A lightning wizard named Ramuh, and feline named Stray.
"There are so many..."
That's when he came across a name that caught his attention quickly. Looking over the list of abilities he shook his head in a frightened disbelief. "Time magic. It uses time magic... That's how Imari can do all those things."
He looked for information about body possession, but there was none. Pressing 'print' he took a copy of the information with him to the dorms. The others have to know about this in-case a fight is brought on. If this is an ancient creature that's taken over his love's body, who knows what may have altered over time. It could be stronger than ever with evolution over the years. They have to be ready.
