Lightning sighed as she stared into the fire, unsure of what her future held. They were cast into the unknown since they had been branded as l'Cie and went on the run. People were scared of them and there was nothing they could do to help that.

Her blue eyes flickered over to where Hope laid next to Vanille. He had changed since he started out. He had wanted revenge for his mother's death but it no longer drove him, allowing him to breathe and look at the world differently. She had a feeling that it was down to the young girl who lay next to him. Both of them were attached, she could see that. Her eyes skipped over to the other woman in the group, Fang. Fang was different from the rest of them; she strove to fight onward; even taking them on if that will help them. She refused to stand by and do nothing.

Sazh was next, he was lying a little further away from them with his little chocobo chick lying on the ground next to him, curled up. He had been with her from the beginning. He had protested but never faltered, even when she blew up in his face over his insinuation that she should kill her sister who became an l'Cie. Despite everything that had happened, he still remained cheerful.

Snow…Lightning faltered in her thoughts over the large man. She didn't know what to make of him. He was her sister's fiancé. She had always painted him in a bad light, refusing to listen to Serah's declaration of adoration when it came to him. As far as Lightning was concerned, Snow was just a bad influence. But that had changed over time, even when he frustrated her with his stupid statement 'Hero's don't need plans', he had gotten them out of tight spots.

She remembered the fear that raced through her when the explosion came from top of the building where Snow and Hope were. She was scared for the young boy who she had formed a bond with but she was even more scared for the man who had slowly worked his way into her heart. She carried him to Hope's house and tended to his wounds. She got to see how well defined he was and cursed herself. It wouldn't do to fall in lust with the man who was engaged to her baby sister.

Shaking her head, Lightning came out of her thoughts and looked back into the fire, refusing to look at the man who was creating all the conflicts inside of her. She wasn't a naïve virgin; she had her fair share of sexual partners. After her parents died, she shut herself off, forcing herself to grow up in a bid to look after her sister but there were times she just needed to let loose by downing alcohol and allowing herself to be free.

Sex was a way of allowing her to be free, to let someone else take charge for once and giving her a break but they had always been one night stands. She refused to let anyone into her heart…not after what happened to her parents and her sister. They were taken away from her. Even though there was a chance they would be able to get Serah back, she couldn't live her life on maybes. They might get her back…but there was also a chance she was gone for good, despite the evidence of Fang and Vanille breaking free of their crystals and Snow's insistent voice begging her to remember the legend that once you fulfilled your goal, you would gain eternal life.

Lightning snorted with disgust. Some eternal life it would be. Forever trapped in a crystal, she wondered if Serah could feel and hear everything. She never asked Fang or Vanille what it was like to be in a crystal stasis, none of them had, probably because they were afraid of the answer.

Standing up, Lightning stretched her arms over her head, feeling restless. She needed to move, she didn't want to sit about with her thoughts. Looking around at the sleeping group once more, she made a choice and left the area, making sure she didn't stray too far away from them but just enough so she could be alone for a short time.

The area around them was a lush green forest. She still remembers what it was like during the day, the lust green colour of the leaves and grass, the bright colour flowers and the strong sweet scents. It was nothing like being on Cocoon and she could only wonder why they wouldn't allow people to visit Grand Pulse anymore. Sure, there were monsters but if they could deal with them, then the army would have no problem with them.

Shaking out of those thoughts, she looked around to see she had reached the large pond they had passed more than once. It was shimmering under the full moon. Looking up, she could see the full moon high in the sky and the bright stars twinkling. She remembered what her father said about the stars.

"No matter where a person dies, they always head up to the sky where they become stars. Among there, they will twinkle brightly for the person who means a lot to them. You are never alone, not with them watching out over you."

Tears pricked at her eyes as she brought her head down. She missed her parents dearly. They had been taken away from her and Serah when they were young. They had been her support and they were suddenly yanked away from her. Deciding she didn't want to feel the loss of another person she cared, she slowly cut herself off from everyone but her sister, hardening her heart. And now…her sister was gone.

Lightning slumped down, suddenly exhausted mentally, physically and emotionally. She had to be strong for everyone; she needed to be strong for everyone because they looked toward her to take the lead in their battles. She was the one who pushes them onward, helping them to gain their revenge for the people they have lost due to becoming L'Cie.

But she was tired; she didn't want to be the strong one anymore. She wanted to break and let someone else patch her up for once but there was no one who could help her. Tears that pricked her eyes began to slip free, unbidden. She didn't bother to try and wipe them away. It felt good to cry for once, to show emotions.

Soft footsteps made their way over to her, unheard over her cries. She startled when she felt a hand come down on her shoulder and pulled away, wiping her tears away as she did in a bid to hide them.

"I already heard you," Snow's voice interrupted her, his tone unusually silent. Lightning stiffened as Snow removed his hand and sat down next to her. "You got the kid worked up. He woke up to see you were gone so he and Vanille decided to see where you were before they saw you crying. They came to me."

"Why you?" she asked, her tone exhausted. It hurt Snow's heart to hear her voice like that. She had always been the strong one.

"I dunno, you can ask the kid when you interrogate him for sneaking away to look for you. Kid knows better than to give us heart attacks like that," Snow muttered. A brief smile crossed Lightning's face at the memories of Hope scaring them. It wasn't like he set out to scare them, he just did. "He was all panicky but he didn't want to scare you off. I asked them why me but they just shoved me over and went back to sleep!" Lightning chuckled.

"Yeah, that's them," she said before she lapsed back into silence. Snow cleared his throat, awkward. He wasn't used to silence, preferring to fill it with noises but he could sense that Lightning was gathering her thoughts. She wasn't the type to show emotions so for her to show emotion when no one was around meant she was dealing with something. "It's hard to be strong sometimes." Snow looked at Lightning but she was staring straight ahead at the water. "I didn't always need to be strong, we still had our parents so we were free to lean on them but when they were taken away from us, I felt I had to be the strong one for Serah. To grow up while Serah could still have her childhood."

Snow just stayed silent, sensing that Lightning just needed someone to listen to her. He had always wondered about the stoic woman who was Serah's sister. While the two of them were similar in appearances, they were so different in actions. Serah was a carefree fun loving girl who made friends with everyone she met; Lightning was aloof, preferring to keep her distance from everyone. Serah had talked a lot about her sister but Snow could sense that Serah sometimes resented Lightning for being so strong. It was like she missed the woman Lightning used to be.

"She used to tell me stories about the stuff you used to get up to when you were younger," Snow told her and Lightning nodded.

"Back then, I didn't have to worry about anything. Just school, clothes and boys." She rolled her eyes. "But that all changed when they died. There was no one else to look after us so I took it upon us to ensure that the social wouldn't separate us. I proved to them that I could look after the two of us while holding a job and still going to school." Snow wondered if Serah knew about that, she had never said anything to him.

"You did a good job," Snow tried to praise her but got a scoff of disbelief.

"To do that, I had to cut myself off from everyone. I refused to allow myself to be attached to anyone again, believing that they would be taken away from me like our parents. Serah tried so hard to get me to change, setting me up on dates and taking me to parties but I was never interested in that. All I cared about was making sure that she was provided for. I guess overtime I became more like her mother than her sister when all she really needed was a sister."

Snow opened his mouth to say that Serah still loved her but thought again. It was something for Serah to say, when she came back. He knew that Lightning still harboured doubts about Serah coming back but he had to believe it. He stared at the woman a little longer. One of her hand was down at the grass, stroking and plucking at the green strands. He wanted to comfort her but was unsure how to do so.

He was attracted to her…despite being engaged to her sister. There was something about Lightning that drew him to her. Serah was easy to figure out, when she was upset, she let you know. She couldn't keep a secret. But Lightning was the opposite of Serah. She was silent, preferring action over words. He never knew what she was thinking or feeling but she held it all inside of her, slowly bottling it up in hope that it would never spill out.

"Is there anything I can do?" he asked and she lifted her head, her blue eyes shimmering with tears that took his breath away.

"Can you fix me?" she asked. They stared into each other eyes for a moment before she realised what she said and turned away. "Sorry, that just slipped out." Snow reached out, turning her face toward his once more. Their eyes met before Snow leaned in and kissed her softly on the lips. Lightning froze for a moment before her eyes slid close. Everything just flew from her head, allowing her to bask in the warm emotions.

Snow's lips parted, his tongue sneaking out to brush against hers and she parted her lips, allowing him entrance. Lightning shifted her body, her right arm sliding over Snow's shoulder as he slid his right arm around her waist, pulling her in. Somehow Lightning found herself straddling him, her hands untying the knot of his bandanna and threw it off to the side. The blonde strands that had been held back by the object was now loose, framing his face and partially obscuring his eyes. His eyes were dark with desire as he pulled away from her, helping her to unclasp and peel off her white sleeveless jacket, throwing it over to where his bandanna was lying.

She wore a dark brown top that reached just above her tone stomach, baring her pierced navel to his view. Lightning leaned back in, kissing him as his hands slid over her waist, feeling her skin for the first time. It was warm and soft. His hands were slightly rough from calluses due to fighting but it just sent sparks up her spine.

Her hands moved down his body, pulling the zip all the way off and pushing the jacket and top off his body, her fingers caressing the hardness of his muscles and the softness of his skin. The throbbing between her legs started to get unbearable, causing her to shift against the hardness.

Snow moaned into her mouth, gripping her hips intending to stop her when she moved her him in a particular way that had him bucking up into her; Lightning sucked on his tongue as a result which made him tighten his grip on her hips. Her hands moved down lower, brushing against the button and zip of his jeans.

Snow shifted them so she was lying on her back and he was over her. He helped her to get rid of his jeans, kicking his boots and jeans away before he turned back to her, helping her to remove her top, shorts, boots and underwear. She had already removed her gloves, arm protectors, her guard and her leg pack, leaving them at the camp where they would be safe. He slid his hands up her thighs, causing her to buck her hips up into his, his hardness brushing against her core. Snow shifted himself, parting her legs enough for him to slide into her, gritting his teeth when he felt her warm tight wet walls surrounding him.

Once he was in all the way, he stopped, allowing Lightning to get use to the feel of him but she just moved her hips restlessly and his control snapped. He pulled out and slid back into her, eliciting a moan of pleasure from the woman underneath him.

Lightning's legs came up around his hip, allowing him to go deeper as he moved his head down, kissing her neck before stopping at her breasts. They were tipped with rosy pink nipples which were hard and begging for his touch. Never been the one to watch something beg, he leaned down and took a nipple into his mouth, causing Lightning's walls to tighten around him and her hands to bury themselves into his hair, holding him close.

He started thrusting faster and harder into her, moving his lips over to her other breasts. One of his hands curved under her back, helping her arch into his body while his free hand slipped down to her clit, brushing his thumb against it. Her walls were beginning to tighten around him and she was making noises of pleasure. He lifted his head and crushed his lips against hers once more, shifting his hip so he could hit a spot inside of her to help push her over the edge.

Lightning gasped his name as her walls clenched around him. Her legs tightened around his hip as her nails raked down his back, her back arching, pressing her body against his as her hair fell toward the ground.

Snow groaned; burying his face into her neck as her release triggered his. After thrusting into her a few more time, he slumped against her body, breathing heavily. He could feel her heart beat racing. He was sure his was matching her for speed.

One of Lightning's hands managed to un-claw itself from his back and was running through his thick blonde strands, feeling how soft it was. Snow's lips were occasionally caressing her neck and shoulder, comforting her as she came down from her high.

Once she did, he could tell. Her walls softened around him, her breathing and heartbeat slowed down and she turned her face into his neck, her nose nuzzling against the skin almost kitten like. He began to feel he was getting too heavy for her.

Lightning moaned as Snow slid out, turning her so he was pressed up against her back. Lightning sighed softly as Snow shifted his right arm so it was pillowing Lightning's head, his left arm sliding over her waist, pulling in her further. Lightning closed her eyes, feeling warm and relaxed.

"No matter what happens, we'll face it together," Snow promised her, pressing a kiss to her bare shoulder. Lightning never heard him, already in a deep sleep and feeling at peace for once.

The End

I apology if they were out of characters but I hoped you still enjoyed it. (No Sequel! So please do not give me any ideas to start one! I have way too many stories to write!)
