Storm Cloud Smiles
Flora_Winters Disclaimer: I do not own Final Fantasy VII or Crisis Core and I’m not making any money here either. I do believe Final Fantasy VII is one of the best video games ever to me made and anyone who has the balls to disagree with the AWESOME that is ME will be all smitey-smoted by my lovely Knights of the Round. Summary: Sometimes the dead simply do not stay where he thought he didn’t bury them. A ghost story which haunts windswept halls. MM, Strong Language, Violence, Cloud-Zack, Cloud-Genesis, Cloud-Sephiroth, Cloud-Vincent, Genesis-Sephiroth Prologue: The Dark Dreams Which Haunt Him His dreams were always different and even more terrifying than the last. There was so much heat coming from the roaring flames and the screams were like nails tearing into his sweating flesh. It was as if the stench of scorched corpses were reaching out into the creeping night to choke him where he stood. The very smoke was darker than the starless sky above his soot covered face. He could hear the insane laughter. Laughter filled with such pain, confusion and a deeper hurt. He knew the hidden knowledge his idol had obtained had slowly driven the powerful man crazy over the many long weeks he had held himself up in the abandoned lab under the Shinra Mansion. Rooms he knew should never have been visited. Screams of death and howls of the dying surrounded him as the flames roared. How could one man possess so much power? “Because,” a near silent voice whispered like a cold wind into his ear. “I am a god.” The blond spun around and there his nightmare was in the flesh, standing tall and glorious in the flames of his own dark design. That long hair of his flowed free like strands of molten starlight around his handsome face. “Silly Cloud,” he chuckled, those blazing eyes burning him with their eerie green light. “I will never die. Not really.” “Seph…” “How about you come find me, hmm?” The silver haired, fallen deity asked with a smug smile, twirling a strand of long hair around his black gloved index finger. “You’ve always been so good at sniffing me out.” Cloud took a step back, falling over a body he hadn’t thought behind him. He rolled over and was face to face with his worst heartache. Sephiroth grinned like a snake. “Would you like to know a little secret?” Cloud gasped. There was so much blood! It was covering him! He was choking, drowning in it! The smell! He tried scrambling to his feet, but kept slipping in the blood. The smell was terrible, making him gag. “I could bring him back to you,” the fallen god whispered, looming above him. “All you have to do is…” Cloud stiffened when a strong hand gripped his wrist. He watched in horror as dead eyes slid open in milky decay and rotting lips opened to grin at him with broken, black teeth. He cried out in terror, trying to get his wrist free from the powerful hold. Not again! It was happening again. The smell! Make it go away! “Cloud,” the rotting figure rattled out in putrid puffs of air, voice sounding like dry sticks clattering together. “NO!” He screamed, trying to break the ghoul’s hold on him. “This is but a mere nightmare, Cloud,” Sephiroth chuckled with dark humor. “He can’t really harm you unless you allow him to? Do you think you deserve to be harmed? I really must give you high points for your creativity though. This is the best looking zombie I’ve seen in many years. If I recall correctly, I really do believe Angeal’s boots smelled better.” “Let me go!” Cloud shouted, kicking and thrashing his legs at the zombie. “Get off! Somebody, help me! Sephiroth!” “You robbed me of everything I’ve ever wanted!” Sephiroth snarled, kicking the zombie away with a bone smashing hit to the head. Bone shattered and bits of rotting flesh peels away from the cheeks as if the thing’s head were a rotting dumbapple. He grabbed Cloud by his neck, lifting him off his kicking feet. “Did Zacky hurt you? Good! I’m about to!” He threw Cloud to the blackened ground, kneeling before him in rage. “You’ve trapped me in the darkness!” He wailed, reaching out to claw him. “I’m all alone!” “You killed so many,” Cloud narrowed his eyes. “You almost killed my world!” “Why must you always make everything about yourself?” Sephiroth hissed, inching closer and closer. “You’re so fucking selfish! You don’t know my pain! If you knew my pain, you’d blow this goddamn planet up, too!” Cloud wanted to tackle him, but the pain in those mad green eyes mirrored his own. They were so sad. “Shinra destroyed me!” He roared, looking away from Cloud. His voice softened dramatically. “I used to be happy…” No! Cloud didn’t want to hear this. He didn’t want to hear Sephiroth. Someone like him had no feelings, no heart. He took so much away from him. He hated him. “Let me out of the darkness, Cloud,” Sephiroth whispered. “Wake me up and I’ll give Zack back to you. I’ll give back what Shinra took from you.” Cloud felt a tear slip down his cheek. “DO IT!” Sephiroth shrieked, pouncing on top of him, holding him down. “Or I’ll torment you until you’re as crazy as me! I’ll fill your dreams with demons until you see them in every waking shadow, in every goddamn corner!” “Cloud?” A sad, lonely voice asked. Slowly, Cloud turned his face to the side. It was Zack. He was lying right beside him. His handsome face was splattered with his own cooling blood and his eyes were filled with pain and pink tears. “Do you remember our dream?” Zack asked, smiling a pained smile. “I want to make it come true…with you…” “Stop it,” Cloud trembled, trying to push Sephiroth away. “I’m all alone here,” Zack said, tears falling from his dying eyes. “I don’t want to be where you’re not, Cloud. I’m lonely without you.” Cloud shook his head back and forth, muttering incoherently. He was shaking, trembling and fighting to get Sephiroth off him so he could claw his own eyes out and cover his ears. “I don’t want to leave you here in this desolate place,” Zack said, eyes slowly going empty. “Why…Why can’t I stay with you?” Cloud was blinded with tears when the breath rattled from Zack’s twitching form. He couldn’t move. He couldn’t breathe. His heart hurt. It hurt so much. It felt as though it was going to explode. “Oh such pain,” Sephiroth cooed, caressing Cloud’s pale cheek. The silver haired man smiled, smacking him hard, pulling him up by his blond hair. “Come find me, Cloud. If not, I’ll send his corpse chasing after you every time you close your goddamn eyes until you do.” “Please,” Cloud silently whispered, pleading with him. “I might even have his rotting flesh take you for my amusement,” he chuckled. “Your screams of anguish and loss make the mako in my veins run cold with such joy.” “Shut up!” Cloud yelled, punching him in the nose with all his might. “Let go of me you sick fuck!” He was consumed with fear and an even deeper rage. His tears were blinding him and he wanted to kill. Sephiroth laughed as his muscular form shattered all over the blond into a million glowing shards of violet-green light. “Come find me, Cloud,” he called like a voice in a deep, misty wood. “Or this will be just the beginnings of your endless nightmares.” ~OOOOO~ Cloud’s blue eyes snapped open and he sat up in a cold sweat. He took deep breaths in order to calm himself and quickly reached across for the light. Pulling down on the string, the light chased the darkness away. He huddled there with the soft white sheets around him, shivering from the coldness that had seeped into his bones. Sephiroth was dead. He was fucking dead! He had killed him with his own hands. He was dead and rotting in that pit he had made for himself. Some god his dead ass had turned out to be. He held his head in his palms and suddenly looked at his wrist. It was hurting. He pulled back his sleeve and his eyes widened in fright. It was bruised. His wrist where Zack’s corpse had gripped him was bruised all the way around. He put both hands to his mouth muffle his panicked screams. His whole body trembled as he scrambled to get up. He was so tangled up in the sheets that he fell out of the bed and hit the floor hard. He did his best to get up but couldn’t do so. So, he emptied the contents of his stomach right where he had fallen. Come find me, Cloud. I’ll make you sorry if you don’t. Cloud…why can’t I stay with you? ~To Be Continued… Please review and tell me what your thoughts are. I enjoy hearing from you all. ~FloraWhile AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
