The Good Wife

Rydia sat on a bench at the edge of the lake, staring sightlessly ahead. She was pale, with dark rings under her eyes and her shoulders slumped, as if the weight of the world was upon them. She was swaying gently. She looked fragile, like a gust of wind could knock her over at any moment.

Her green eyes were wide and unblinking. She looked utterly exhausted.

Rosa approached her, carefully. The other girl – no, woman now – didn’t seem to see her coming.

“Hello, Rydia,” said Rosa, gently. She didn’t know what to make of her young friend’s appearance. She was usually a lively girl but now looked, to all intents and purposes, like a zombie.

The green-haired summoner didn’t acknowledge the other woman’s presence at first. She kept staring ahead, even as Rosa sat down on the bench next to her. Her eyes were fixed at a spot in the middle distance. Rosa checked, but there was nothing in particular that she seemed to be staring at.

“Are you okay?” she asked her. “You look like you haven’t slept in days!”

The younger woman simply shook her head, and Rosa knew that something was wrong.

They’d all agreed it had been a fine wedding. Edge and Rydia had been married in a lavish ceremony to which all the world’s dignitaries had been invited, including Rosa and her husband Cecil, the Queen and King of Baron.

She had looked dazzling on the day, dressed in a gown of white with hints of green. She’d obviously been nervous but had smiled brightly through the rest of the celebrations after the marriage had been completed. There had been good cheer all round and the guests had happily ushered the new King and Queen of Eblan into their lives as a married couple.

Once they’d left the wedding, Edge and Rydia had felt no more need for ceremony. As the door to the bedchamber closed behind them, he had taken her in his arms and took to removing the clasps that held her body encased in the dress, a task that she was happy to help him with. They kissed, more passionately than they had ever done before. Rydia, the new wife, was stripping her husband in turn. They became frantic in their efforts to achieve mutual nakedness.

She knew what was expected of her this night and she’d felt nervous about it. Now, in the darkness of their communal chamber, she knew that she had no qualms about being the good wife she wanted to be. She was looking forward to it, in fact, feeling giddy from the events of the day and the anticipation of those to come.

She had never been naked in front of him before, but the time for modesty had passed. Now released, she stepped from her wedding dress and allowed him to take her all in, from the painted green tips of her toes to the emerald necklace that still dangled at the top of her chest, pointing the way to her breasts and the body that she knew he had wanted, the one that was now ready for him.

Her new crown was perched atop her emerald hair. She reached up to remove it, but Edge gently took her wrist and pulled it away.

“Leave it,” he commanded. And she obeyed.

He brought his hand to the small of her back and pulled her towards him. She obliged and let him lead her on until he was pressing against her, kissing her passionately on their marital bed. She lost all sense of time, and when she came back to herself, he was inside her, pushing in and out as she clawed at his naked back. It was gentle, but insistent; they both found themselves driven by an incredible need that they could only satisfy through the union of each other’s bodies.

Squirming in a sea of new sensations, Rydia gasped as the feelings mounted, driving her towards some spectacular ending.

At last, Edge’s pushing motion became more insistent until he finally froze, and she could feel the evidence of his love being released inside her. She moaned inarticulately as their first encounter came to a close. When he rolled off her, she lay in the darkness, filled with tender feelings of satisfaction.

“Wow,” she breathed.

Edge reached over to the bedside table and took a swig from a bottle to replenish himself. In her naivete, she had assumed it was filled with water.

“We’re not done yet,” he said, placing the bottle back and leaning over her. And as she brought her lips to his and opened her legs to let him back inside, she felt a feeling of completeness that, now she had tasted it, would never want to do without again.

And that’s when the problems began.

“I wanted to be a good wife,” she said, tonelessly. “I have been a good wife… over and over again. Relentlessly. Unendingly.

She grabbed hold of Rosa’s wrist, tightening her grip more than was comfortable for the other woman. Rosa tried to pull away, but Rydia’s grip was stronger than her fragile appearance made it seem. She looked down at the younger woman’s hand, with her green-painted nails closed around her own wristlet, and when she looked up again, Rydia’swide-eyed gaze was locked on hers.

“It’s just, when will it stop? It just keeps going! I haven’t slept in three days!”

Rosa didn’t know what to say.

“Did you have this problem? He just won’t give up!”

What could she tell her? Rosa couldn’t complain, but on the other hand she had slept since her wedding night.

“You can tell him no,” she suggested, tactfully.

Rydia shook her head. “I don’t want to. I want to have his babies right away. I love making love with him, it’s just…”

The green-haired woman looked around, then leant in closer to Rosa, conspiratorially.

“I snuck out,” she said, lowering her voice. She grasped the strap of her leotard. “These are the first clothes I’ve worn since the wedding night!”

There was more detail here than Rosa was strictly comfortable with. She leant back a little – but when she did, Rydia just leaned in further, staring unblinkingly into her eyes.

“I thought there’d be breaks!” she wailed. But he has potions!

Rosa swallowed. “Potions?” she asked, interested despite herself.

Rydia’s eyes went even wider. “Oh, yes” she said.

A few hours before – hours? Or was it weeks? – she had never had an orgasm. Now Rydia was on the floor of their palatial bedchamber, her knees and elbows pressed to the ground as her husband took her relentlessly from behind. She hugged a cushion to her ample chest and wailed through waves of uncontrolled ecstasy that had turned her legs to jelly and left her without the strength to even prop herself up on her arms. She couldn’t count the number of times Edge had brought her to the brink of pleasure and pushed her over, if only because that part of her brain had long since been disabled in her pursuit of bestial lust.

She knew that Edge had come. She knew that Edge had come multiple times, and she thought she knew that men only had a certain number of goes in them before they had to give up for the night. However many goes that was, though, she hoped it wouldn’t happen now, not while she was being pounded off the edge of a cliff, ready to fall into an endless void of pleasure; every thrust of her husband’s manhood causing her nipples to rub against the soft shag of the carpet, electrifying her. Her eyes were wide and staring forward with real shock, but she could see nothing but black dots swimming in front of her, her sense of touch having leached power from the other four.

At some point in the night, she’d lost the crown. She’d lost the wedding jewellery, too. They were strewn somewhere in the marital rooms, but that’s all she knew. Her hair, she could tell, was all over the place; a shaggy mop that she could barely see through now, matted by layers of sweat from their marathon lovemaking.

He had fared little better. His muscular body was shiny with their sweat, but his unkempt hair actually served to enhance his allure; he could make the dishevelled look work. She could only imagine what a picture she made.

She was glad that he’d gotten her naked. If she’d been wearing the dress, it would have been worn down to its bare threads by now. And it had been a very comely dress.

With a final thrust, he ended inside her and she cried out, partly in relief; any longer and she would have died in her euphoria. He collapsed on top of her, and her onto the cushion around which she had wrapped herself.

In the darkness, they gasped for breath, bodies intertwined.

Rydia faded into the realm of sleep. She knew that her first night as a married woman was over. She closed her eyes and let herself drift into state of satisfied nothingness, her body and spirit spent.

She would soon find that she knew nothing.

“I didn’t know enough. No one taught me how it worked! The things he can do…!

Rydia gave a shudder and pulled away from Rosa. Rosa brought her wrist back, rubbing the feeling back into it. The younger woman was hugging herself, rocking back and forward with gentle motions.

“I keep blacking out,” she breathed, cheeks starting to flush, even as she continued to stare ahead, exhausted. “But then he’s there, taking me, over and over again! And I could tell him to stop, except I don’t want to – it’s just too good!

Rydia screamed as she ground herself down on him. From her vantage point, she could see the whole room and her own breasts rising and falling to the rhythm of her body; a rhythm she was experiencing but could barely control. Edge was rock-hard – another swig from his “water” bottle had seen to that – and she could feel him inside her, driving her mad.

Something inside her had awakened. There could be no doubting that. A hunger that had been teased before, but never felt. Now that she had tasted it, she couldn’t stop herself from gorging on it. The way that she behaved was wanton, made decent by the bonds of matrimony. Here, bouncing her naked flesh on top of his was not only acceptable, but expected; and the thought drove her to greater depths of wholesome abasement.

She grinned through her green lipstick. The sounds coming from her throat were alien to her, not language but a form of communication that was older still. She could barely think through her tiredness, but what of it? There would be time to sleep later. Now was her wedding night. This was the first night where she would use her body to pleasure her lover, and she would do everything she could to give him everything he wanted.

It didn’t hurt that she was in ecstasy.

She came, violently, and swooned from her perch above him as she lost the strength to hold herself up. She fell on top of Edge’s chest and passed out.

But Edge wasn’t done. He grabbed her hips and pushed her back onto the bed, hoisting her legs over his shoulders. She was brought back into consciousness by the feeling of her husband pressing down into her…

And the cycle began anew.

They screwed at the breakfast table.

He took her in the shower.

They put the durability of Eblan’s throne to the test.

In places throughout the castle, Edge and his young wife shagged each other senseless. Rydia lost all sense of place and time. She didn’t know if it was day or night outside. All she knew were the needs of her husband’s body, and those of her own that he was only too happy to satisfy in kind.

“I’m going to have his babies, but at this rate I’ll be having dozens! Is that how it works?”

“No,” said Rosa.

But Rydia wasn’t listening to her. “I want to be a good wife. I want to give him an heir for Eblan, and to continue the line of summoners. And I’m enjoying it, I really am. But when do I get to sleep, Rosa?”

And still, Rosa didn’t know how to answer her. She had to admit to herself, she was having trouble seeing the problem. The girl – woman – was having trouble sleeping because her husband was so rampant that she didn’t want him to stop. Rosa wasn’t dissatisfied with her own husband, but… how was this fair?

She opened her mouth to say something but was interrupted by another voice.

“Ohh, Rydia, darling!”

The summoner’s shoulders tensed as Edge’s voice trilled across the courtyard. He was walking towards the two women, waving. Rydia swallowed, not looking at him as he approached.

“He’s found me, she whispered to Rosa.

Rosa looked at Edge. He did not look as exhausted as Rydia. In fact, he looked as fresh as he had on the day of the wedding. He strode towards them with a big smile on his face.

In contrast, Rydia looked like she had been… well, doing the thing she’d been doing for as long as she’d been doing it.

“I wondered where you’d got to!

While he was still out of earshot, Rosa whispered into the other woman’s ear.

“You can run away, you know. I can help you hide for a while!

But Rydia shook her head. No,” she said, sadly, as Edge stopped behind her. He slid one of her leotard’s straps off her shoulder and buried his face in her bare skin. She took a deep, shuddering breath as he kissed her collarbone, and shifted on her seat as he caressed the back of her neck.

She closed her eyes, slowly. “I’m staying,” she said, dreamily, as Edge trailed his fingers over her exposed skin.

Edge bowed briefly to Rosa and then pulled Rydia by the arm. “Come on, you!” he said, cheerfully. “Plenty more for us to do! Affairs of state,” he added, for Rosa’s benefit.

He pulled his wife away, and she didn’t resist. At the last moment, as she stood up from the bench and prepared to follow him, she leant down to Rosa one final time.

“If you don’t see me again, I died happy,” she hissed. She didn’t look like she was joking.

With that, the two lovebirds walked towards the lake. “Have you ever had sex underwater?” Rosa heard Edge ask as he put an arm around her shoulder.

As he led her down there, Rydia trudged forward, zombie-like, until they reached the water’s edge. Then, as he started peeling off her clothes, Rosa looked away, wondering wistfully what she could do to get such problems in her life.

She heard a moan behind her as she walked away. She was already trying to think of a respectable way to ask Edge for the recipe to his potion. She had a sudden desire to be as good a wife to Cecil as Rydia was to Edge.

The End.
