A Little Get Away
Irvine's Secret
Chapter 3
A few hours had passed since their little incident in the Headmaster's office. Irvine now sat in the lunch room, a cat smile curled evilly across his face. He held an elusive hot dog in his hand. He enjoyed making Zell beg him for it. Zell pleaded with him repeatably.
"Come on!" he begged.
"Pay me." the cowboy grinned.
"How much?" Zell raised an eyebrow, afraid of the amount.
"How much do you have?"
In the midst of their haggling, they hadn't noticed that the girls sat down at the table. Rinoa placed herself directly across from Irvine, eying him. Selphie sat next to him, and Quistis was next to Zell. Irvine began to feel uncomfortable, he knew someone was staring at him. He shrugged it off and continued to haggle. After receiving the Gil from Zell, he gave up on ignoring her stare.
"What?!" he shouted.
"So...when are you going to tell Selphie?" Rinoa mocked him right in from of the girl.
"Tell me what?" Selphie turned to him.
"Nothing...Rinny is just playing around..." he gave her a questioning look.
"Am I?" she crossed her legs and leaned forward on the table. "I'll 'play' this game. I'll shut up if you promise me something."
Selphie became worried suddenly, "What is she talking about?"
"Nothing!" he never broke his stare that he gave Rinoa. "What?"
"You give me a day with Squall. You've been hogging him lately."
Selphie's hands covered her mouth in horror, "What?"
Rinoa broke her evil gaze from him and smiled upon Selphie. "Oh! No reason to be scared Selphie. I just think it's my turn to cheer up Squall."
"Oh!" Selphie's fear wiped clean from her face and brightened with a smile. She held onto Irvine's arm and cuddled him.
"Do we agree?" she smirked at him.
Irinve shook his head slowly, but he saw Rinoa eye Selphie so his mind changed quickly. He muttered 'Fine.' to her.
Rinoa got up from the table and wigged her fingers 'good-bye'. Irivne slammed his fist on the top of the table. "Bitch!"
"What's the matter? Irv-"
"Shut up, Selphie. I don't want to talk about it." he removed himself from their area and left the cafeteria.
"Dun worry Selphie. He's just upset about something that happened earlier this morning." Zell reassured her, knowing he was lying for him.
Irvine stood in the secret spot inside of the training room. He leaned over the balcony looking at the garden below. He thought of how pretty it was at night and wished for the darkness to fall. He thought of himself and the others as children. He chuckled to himself, thinking of a younger Squall. He would have never seen this relationship coming. He realized that Rinoa was no where in the memories and he was happy about that. He hated her now. 'Blackmail' he thought. He sighed and turned away from the balcony.
"This IS my fault. If I would just tell her..."
The sound of an oncoming announcement ripped through the silence. Squall's voice rang out. "Would the following students report to my office : Zell, Quistis, Selphie, Rinoa, and Irvine. That is all."
Squall's laughing could be heard before the elevator door opened. His friends stepped out and filled the office. They saw a man with long black hair. It was pulled back into a small pony tail. He turned, rose his hand up, and greeted them.
"Heya, guys!" he gave an energetic wave.
Selphie, elated, jumped up and down and flew into his arms. "Sir Laguna!"
"Ya know, I'd appreciate it if you didn't attack my father."
Everyone's attention was now on Squall. He was dressed out of his ordinary black leather attire. He wore blue jeans and a white button up shirt. Casual. Much like his father's.
"I've summoned you to invite the lot of you to stay with me and my father for a night or two. In Windhill."
"Oooh, it's peaceful there!" Selphie bounced about as she always did.
Quistis, her finger at her chin in thought, added "Nice and quiet."
"So you're all coming?" Laguna sounded quite pleased.
"Shouldn't the president be doing something... I don't know...important?" Zell questioned.
"I am!" he threw his arm around his son. "I'm spending time with my boy!"
Squall smiled. He loved his father. Even though he still thought he was a bumbling idiot, he loved him. Foolish, silly, compulsive Laguna. He liked knowing who his parents where and at least being able to see one of them.
Rinoa raised her hand as if in class. "Excuse me? Mr. Lorie?"
"Yes Ma'am?" he smiled.
"How are we getting there?"
"Oh! That's the fun part!" he posed like a super hero, legs spread part, buff chest, and his hands on his hips. "The Ragnarok!"
Irvine's eyebrow rose in question, "There actually letting you use that?"
"Yep! Isn't being the president great?" remaining in his super hero stance he laughed heartily.
As they boarded the ship, Rinoa took Irvine away from the group and into a small room. "Remember...he's mine today." she mocked him again, kissing him on the cheek.
"He's not going to touch you." he scowled/
"Oh, I think he will. You see, I know how to get what I want. I'm tired of him always choosing you. That's going to stop. Tonight. He won't even look at you the same."
"Wow...you really ARE a bitch under all that." he grinned.
She shot him a fiery glare. "He's mine. Ok?"
He watched her walk away. The automatic doors flew open, he saw the confidence in her stride. The smirk on his face shattered. He fell back on the wall and then to the floor. His hand covered his mouth, hoping to stop himself from making any sound. His eyes burned. Irvine buried his heated face in his knees, a few tears falling from him. He was afraid. Afraid not of Rinoa, but out of fear of loosing Squall.
Rinoa joined the rest of the group again. She stood by Squall's side and leaned her head on his shoulder. Squall wasn't the only one to find it awkward. Everyone did. Everyone except for Laguna. He still had no idea about his son being with Irvine. Squall allowed this sheerly for the love of his father.
"oh, love birds!" Laguna chirped happily. "When are you two going to tie the knot?" he joked.
"Soon! I promise!" Rinoa held her hand in the air like a scout.
Squall clearly had objections that weren't voiced. He just played along and laughed.
"Where are we staying in Windhill?" Rinoa asked.
"Well, I bought out the pub. Now it's as it was, Raine's. Two of you can stay in the upstairs room. I bought the house next to the pub, that's Raine's now too. You guys can stay there. If that's not enough I can rent a hotel."
"A hotel room?"
"Sure! That works too! It's cheaper than renting the hotel!" he laughed again.
Squall felt uncomfortable. He knew she was up to something. "I'm...going...to go find Irvine..."
Before Rinoa could tell him to stay he was gone. He walked through the ship, looking for any sign of him. He searched everywhere with no luck. Finally, he tried the small room Rinoa had recently been in. He saw Irvine, hunched against the wall. His shoulders heaving.
"What's wrong? You look like you have to shoot someone." he poked fun at him.
He then heard Irvine's muffled sob and he stopped his teasing. He ran over to his side, helping him to stand up. "What's wrong?" he looked up into his eyes, wiping away his tears with a thumb.
Irvine looked at him and burst into tears, falling in Squall's arms, he held him with his all.
"You're acting weird. What's wrong with you?" he kissed him with his tender lips.
"Don't...leave me.." Irvine gasped in between his sobs.
"Leave you?" he tried to look at Irvine's, but his head was bowed in shame.
"I don't...want you to leave..." he held tightly on Squall, as if he would disappear forever should his grip loosen. "I love you."
"I know that, Irvine." he lifted Irvine's face with his hands and kissed him again. "I love you too. Why would you think I'd leave you?"
"Rinoa...plans to-" his lips were sealed by Squall's bare finger.
"Hush." he held onto Irvine until his pain faded away.
After their day of fun and relaxation ended and the sun sank below the horizon, the party separated to go to bed. Squall walked in the darkness, getting ready to go to his room in the pub. He was pushed to the side of a building and pinned. It was a weak pin, but the surprise of the push kept him there, a bit dazed. He peered downward, he could only see darkness. He felt a hand shove itself down the front of his pants, the fingers rubbing him gently. He could easily run, but the thought of being taken against his will aroused him slightly. He heard metal cling together fora moment. He knew the sound and yet he couldn't remember why. The person had long since opened his pants and now suckled at him. A hand rubbed his high, the other jerked at him while a small tongue licked up his extracts.
"Mmm..." he moaned, sliding down the wall, trying to find himself. He felt the person's long hair fall against him as it positioned itself to take in his length again. He could lose himself in this pleasure. He thought of Irvine. He lust broke instantly. He pushed the one pleasing him and shot up to his feet. He pulled his pants up and ran, The dark figure licked it's fingers clean and smiled.
Squall entered the pub and went to it's room upstairs. He panted and fell on the bed. He wished for Irvine so badly. He heard the pub door open again. Slow steps coming up the stairs. The familiar cling of metal again and the door opened. His brow creased as he maddened. She was there.
"You." he snapped.
She walked within inches of him. "You sound mad."
"Of course I am!"
"You didn't sound mad back there. In fact, you seemed to be enjoying yourself." she teased him.
"What the hell is wrong with you?"
She sat on his lap, wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed him. He immediately pushed her from him.
"What did you do to him?" he narrowed his eyes.
"Who?" she played dumb.
"What did you do to Irvine?!"
"Do? I didn't DO anything. I just let him know that after tonight he'll know my pain. After tonight, you'll be mine again."
Squall snickered. "And we're so confident, because...?"
"Because, I know your father has no clue about this Irvine PHASE you're going through. He has no idea that you're two timing me. And I know he'd be distant from you if he knew. And I KNOW that you'd be devastated, your only living family member loathing you. I also know that I can ruin your career as future headmaster. Your reputation would be ruined. Who would want to follow a two timing liar? They'd distrust you. They will unless you come with me." she put out her offering hand.
"So that's it?" he stood. "I never thought it would come to this..."
The back of Squall's hand struck Rinoa's face and she fell onto the floor.
"I didn't want to have to hurt you, Rinoa. But you had that coming. And I swear to you, if you EVER try to blackmail me again, I will make sure you wished you had died out in space. Unlike you, I am not so easily swayed by the opinion of others. As for my father, he is my father and will love me, for I am all he has left of Raine. What of yours? I'm sure your father would love to see his little 'angel' like this."
Rinoa held her face as she collected herself.
"Get out." he said coldly.
Squall sat in his room, looking out the side window at the night sky. He remembered the shooting star that he saw with her on the night they met. He was a bit saddened that all that he had gone through for her was for nothing now. But it didn't matter. He didn't HATE her, in fact he still cared for her well-being. He just loved someone else now. He thought back to when he had first fallen for Irvine. It was about eight months after the battle with Ultimecia. He was so amused by Irvine's personality, his charm, his beauty, his smile. He found himself going out of his way to be where Irvine was. He loved to see him smile and laugh. He loved the way he had problems solving this that didn't deal with women. He laughed at the fact that Irivne was now a man's man. Irvine was always the first to pop up and help him those days. He was the one who talked him into taking the position of headmaster while Cid was away catching up with his wife. He remembered when he took Irvine to the secret spot in the training room. He remembered showing him how beautiful it was at night. He'd given Irvine his first kiss with a man there. Another memory flashed in his mind. The first time he made love with him. He groaned. He missed Irvine so much he could cry. Where had he gone?
