“Zack stop!” The blonde whined once more while slapping away the SOLDIERS hand.
Zack grinned before sitting back against the couch. He loved messing with Cloud and he loved how he could so easily annoy him just by simply touching his hair, it was quite amusing actually.
“I’m bored though,” Zack finally replied while letting his head drop onto the back of the couch.
“I told you I had homework to finish,” Cloud replied while opening his book once more.
“Yeah but I didn’t know it was going to take you this long,” Zack basically pouted.
This was how it always was, Cloud going over to the SOLDIERS apartment after his classes and hanging out there for awhile and doing his homework. One would assume that the older teen would’ve been used to it by now.
Cloud couldn’t help but smile. Zack was like a child in so many ways. Here he was the younger one and he often thought that he was the more mature one. Zack would get restless after awhile and found the only thing to keep him busy was to bother the blonde…though he wasn’t really much of a bother to the other. In fact Cloud had gotten so used too it that he would feel strange if Zack didn’t act that way.
“Sorry,” Cloud replied with a shrug while going back to his homework.
“Mean,” Zack started while getting up from off the couch.
“What did you want to do anyways?” The blonde asked while keeping his gaze on his book.
“I don’t know, just go somewhere. It’s a nice night out,” the SOLDIER explained from the kitchen.
Sighing Cloud closed his book before setting it on the table and glancing at the raven haired youth. He looked sad and defeated, the way he always would until Cloud would cave into whatever it was that he wanted to do.
“I guess going out for a while would be okay,” the cadet said with a tilt of his head.
“Really?” Zack beamed while stepping out of the kitchen with a soda in hand, “yes! Good, we won’t be gone long!”
Cloud nodded, though he was sure that wasn’t true. Time always got away from them when they went out into the city, but he didn’t really mind, he had basically finished his homework anyways and whatever wasn’t done….well wasn’t done.
In a few moments Zack had finished his soda and they had left the apartment and were down in the garage retrieving the motorcycle. It had become a routine thing now to go and hop on the motorcycle whenever they would go out, and Cloud liked it that way. Any chance that he got to ride the motorcycle he took. He was for certain that he wanted his own someday.
Cloud tightened his grip around Zack’s waist as they sped down the driveway and down the street. The SOLDIER loved to go fast and weave in and out of traffic, and though sometimes Cloud would be a little nervous he eventually relaxed and just enjoyed the ride.
“Where are we going?” Cloud asked over the sound of the bike.
“Wherever we end up at!” Zack replied and the cadet just knew that he had a grin on his face, he could hear it in his voice. Deciding that was fine the blonde relaxed still keeping his hold on the SOLDIERS waist while pressing himself against his back. Maybe that was what he really liked most about the motorcycle rides, being able to be close to Zack. Though he still wasn’t exactly sure why…he just knew he liked it. But he wouldn’t admit that to anybody, and definitely not to Zack.
We could just ride around like this all night…that would be fine. The sentence was so clear in his mind but he just couldn’t bring himself to say it. They began to slow down all to soon for the blonde and he snapped out of his thoughts while glancing around. “Where are we?”
Stopping the bike completely Cloud let go of Zack and climbed off the back before the SOLDIER followed.
“I thought you may want to check this out,” Zack began while walking ahead, “come on.”
Cloud blinked. Where the hell were they? All he could see was what looked like a bunch of old buildings, why would he want to check that out?
“Zack,” he started while following the other hesitantly.
“Come on Spike,” Zack continued while grinning at the other and turning back around to keep on his way.
Cloud followed anyways, though he wasn’t sure as to where he was going.
“The city is cool and everything but there are just some things you miss out on,” Zack began while continuing to walk farther behind the buildings.
“What are you talking about?” Cloud asked while catching up to the SOLDIER. It was really dark and this part of the city wasn’t that well lit. “Zack,” he started again, while glancing around uneasily.
The raven haired youth stopped for a moment before casting a look back to Cloud with a smile on his face. He reached out and grabbed the end of the blonde’s coat sleeve near his wrist and continued his walk.
“I’m not going to leave you behind,” Zack teased.
Cloud felt himself go red and glanced down to Zack’s hand holding onto his sleeve. “I’m not worried about that…I’m just wondering where you are taking me,” he shot back.
Zack grinned wider. No matter what Cloud would probably always be paranoid. “You’ll see.”
Sighing the blonde just allowed himself to be dragged the rest of the way, he knew trying to get information out of Zack would be pointless. They walked for a little longer, passing behind a few more buildings before walking up a ramp and then down to another side. Cloud heard a noise that he couldn’t exactly pinpoint and raised an eyebrow when they came to a low wall.
“It’s just over this,” Zack spoke up breaking the silence that had fallen over them. He stopped at the wall and let go of Cloud’s sleeve before looking over the stone wall.
Cloud looked over the wall and his eyes widened. It was then that he realized the sound that he heard earlier was the sound of waves crashing against the shore. All he could see for miles was nothing but water and the white caps floating on the top. It looked a little scary at night, but still beautiful none the less.
“An ocean? In Midgar?” He asked in surprise as he continued to stare down at the water.
“I know right,” Zack began with a chuckle, “this is probably the only natural thing left in this place. The only part that they didn’t build over…I actually came across this by accident one night but…I don’t know, it seemed worth visiting again.”
Cloud nodded while still keeping his gaze fixed on the dark ocean. Zack looked at him, noting how the cadet looked so calm at the moment. The wind gently blowing his blonde spikes about.
“There was an ocean not too far from Nibelheim where I lived, I used too go to it sometimes,” Cloud explained with a slight smile, “It was really nice there. One of the best things I loved about the place…maybe the only thing.”
Zack smiled to himself as he listened to Cloud talk. It was practically the first time that he had mentioned Nibelheim since he had first asked him where he was from.
“I thought for sure I wouldn’t see an ocean again for awhile, not here in the city anyways,” Cloud continued while leaning over the edge a bit.
“Yeah,” Zack nodded, “it’s a breath of fresh air in this polluted place,” he finished with a laugh.
“Yeah,” Cloud replied while looking over to the SOLDIER, a genuine smile on his face.
Zack could’ve melted at that. Seeing Cloud smile always had that effect on him.
A few of the cadets blonde spikes blew into his face and he pushed them away, allowing the faintly disappearing bruise on his eye to be visible.
It had been a little over a week since Cloud’s fight and Zack was determined to get whoever it was and give them some sort of punishment but Cloud had begged him to just forget about it, so he finally let it go. Though he was keeping a close eye on the cadet even though he wasn’t aware.
Cloud turned his gaze back to the ocean and Zack did the same but felt his eyes traveling back to the blonde. Watching him stand there in the moonlight was enough to captivate him. The blonde had him completely wrapped around his finger and he didn’t even know it. Nobody had ever effected the SOLDIER like Cloud had…it was a little strange. But the thing that was probably the worst was that he might not ever be able to have him. Zack closed his eyes tightly for a moment as that thought passed through his mind.
‘Can I tell you how I feel Cloud? What would you do? Would you hate me?’ Opening his eyes slowly he looked at the stone wall in front of him before glancing back to Cloud. Why was it so damn hard to tell him? Zack had never been one to be shy when it came to approaching someone he was attracted too but…this was a completely different thing for some reason.
“Zack?” Cloud asked while turning to the other.
“Hmm?” Zack spoke up while blinking and focusing on Cloud.
“You’re quiet, just making sure you were okay,” Cloud teased gently with a smile.
Zack grinned before ruffling the blonde’s hair, “I’m fine kid.”
Cloud only laughed a little before nodding. He didn’t pull back or flinch like he usually did. Truth was he felt comfortable around Zack and didn’t mind when the SOLDIER did things like that, and at the moment he just felt…happy. It was a relaxing feeling to be near the ocean on a nice evening like this.
“I said I wouldn’t keep you out too late,” Zack began while glancing at his watch, “you have class early tomorrow right?”
The cadet let his eyes trail over the ocean before nodding, “you can always just excuse me from them though can‘t you?” He asked.
“Hey,” Zack began with a laugh, “I think you’re trying to take advantage of the fact that you’re best friends with a first class SOLDIER.”
“Is that a problem? Friends do each other favors,” Cloud added.
Zack nodded, “True,” he began before grinning, “if you really want me too I can.”
If that means I can stay out here longer with you then yes…
Cloud didn’t respond but instead just smiled lightly at Zack before dropping his eyes to the ground. He couldn’t keep his gaze on him long, he would just end up staring at his eyes and he didn’t want Zack to be weirded out or anything.
“You’re almost done with basic training,” Zack spoke while leaning against the wall next to Cloud.
“Yeah,” Cloud replied, “I hope I’ll be okay in the next class.”
“You’ll be fine,” Zack added quickly, “after all I mean you have been training with me,” he finished with a wink.
Cloud shook his head not even trying to hold back the smile that spread across his face, “conceited.”
The SOLDIER laughed before running a hand through his dark hair.
“I like it here,” Cloud said softly after a few moments.
Zack smiled, “I’m glad. I hoped you would.”
“I do,” Cloud repeated with a slight nod, “It’s a good place to clear your mind. I don’t get that much back at the facility. There’s always something going on. Here it’s just quiet and…nice.”
Zack knew exactly what Cloud meant. This place was completely different from the city, a small disconnected part from everything else, almost a haven of sorts. It was understandable that one would like a place like this in the crazy city that was Midgar.
“It is,” he finally replied after a moment. He let out a sigh while focusing on the waves in front of him. Cloud seemed completely comfortable at the moment, if he wanted to tell him anything he should tell him now, with this setting when everything was just…good. Besides if he didn’t feel the same way then at least he would finally know and he would just have to crush his feelings for the cadet, even though he was sure it would be hard to do. But he would if that’s what he had to do.
Cloud glanced at Zack from the corner of his eye. He was pretty quite. Maybe it was just because he was relaxed, but still Zack was always talkative, sometimes too much. But now he seemed like he was thinking about something. Was something wrong? He couldn’t help but feel a little worried.
“Cloud?” Zack asked after a while.
The blonde turned slightly looking at the SOLDIER with innocent almost scared blue eyes. “Yeah?”
“We’re friends so…I should be able to tell you what’s on my mind,” Zack continued while looking over the wall before his eyes finally traveled back to Clouds.
“Did I…do something wrong?” Cloud asked hesitantly. He was always messing up somehow. He guessed it was just a matter of time before he did something wrong to make Zack upset also.
“No,” Zack spoke while shaking his head quickly, “Cloud no, nothing like that.”
The cadet looked around uneasily for a moment before moving his eyes back to Zack’s. He had this feeling in his stomach like something bad was going to happen to mess up the nice moment that he was having but he wasn’t sure what it was and that scared him.
Zack sighed as he looked at Cloud. He could see the boy was scared to death of what he was going to say.
‘How can I tell him?’
“So…what is it then?” Cloud asked curiously, his heartbeat beginning to quicken. He wasn’t sure why but suddenly he felt very anxious.
“I just,” Zack began while running a hand through his hair. “I just wanted to tell you that…well I’m glad you came to Midgar. I know sometimes you don’t like it here but…I’m glad I met you.”
Cloud felt his face turn red and he quickly turned to look back at the ocean while tapping the stone wall with his fingers. Somebody was actually glad to meet him? He definitely didn’t know how to respond to that, who in the world was ever glad to meet him? If anything people were always glad to see him go.
“I…well I’m glad I met you too Zack,” he managed to say although softly. If Zack could tell him that then he could at least be honest and tell Zack the truth. He had never met another person like Zack and he was glad that he had…and was able to be friends with him. How that happened he still didn’t really know but he was sure as hell glad that it did.
“You sure I don’t annoy the hell out of you?” Zack asked with a grin.
Cloud smiled and shook his head, “No, not anymore.”
“Good to know,” Zack replied with a laugh while leaning back against the wall.
The blonde blinked before turning to look at Zack, biting his bottom lip. The way Zack was acting earlier Cloud was sure he had something more serious on his mind. Was that it? Didn’t he want to say something else?
“Was…that all you wanted to tell me?” The cadet asked unsurely.
Zack nodded, “Yeah…I guess it was,” he replied with a forced laugh, mentally slapping himself. What the hell Zack that was a good start! Why the hell just stop there? He turned to look at Cloud who was just keeping his gaze on the ocean.
“Oh,” the blonde replied in a tone that sounded slightly disappointed. But why was he disappointed? He didn’t understand why he felt that way, after all what did he expect for Zack to say to him?
Idiot! You’re getting all upset over nothing! That phrase kept repeating over and over in the blonde’s mind but still he couldn’t help but be a little frustrated.
“Maybe we should head back,” he said quietly while shoving his hands into his pockets.
“Already?” Zack asked while giving him a strange look, “I thought you were going to blow classes tomorrow.”
“I,” Cloud started with a shake of his head, “just remembered I have a test so…I shouldn’t miss that.”
Zack was silent for a moment before nodding, “Okay, well let’s head back then.”
The blonde didn’t reply but instead just started to walk back down from the way that they came. He was a little further ahead of Zack but at the moment he was a little confused. Confused as to why he felt upset. Then again he wasn’t confused at all, he knew that he had feelings for Zack, no matter how hard he tried to deny it he knew they were there. He was trying hard to suppress them but he just couldn’t…and in a way he didn’t want too. But at the same time everything was becoming too complicated, too weird in their friendship. If he didn’t feel the way he did for Zack then things would be fine but…that just wasn’t the case.
He reached the motorcycle quicker than he thought he would and waited for Zack to catch up.
“I almost lost you there kid,” Zack began with a grin. Either being totally oblivious to Cloud’s current mood or just trying to lighten things, it wasn’t very clear. “Are you hungry?” He asked while hopping onto the bike, “we can grab something on the way back.”
“No,” Cloud replied quickly in an even tone while climbing onto the back and wrapping his arms loosely around Zack’s waist.
“Alright,” Zack replied placing his hands on the handles preparing to start the motorcycle, “You have to hold on tighter than that Spike, you know I don’t want you falling off.”
At that point Cloud didn’t really care if he fell off the damn bike. He knew he was probably acting stupid but…something inside him was hurting and at the same time he was pissed. At Zack? Yeah, maybe a little even though he really shouldn’t be.
He finally tightened his hold on the other knowing that Zack wouldn’t make a move until he did so.
Zack pulled off down the street and turned a corner sharply causing Cloud to squeeze him a little tighter. He always rode fast on his bike but he was probably going a little faster than usual. But he couldn’t help it, his mind was just as troubled as the blonde’s was even though he didn’t know it.
They rode the rest of the way back in silence, each of them lost in their own thoughts.
Cloud held onto Zack for a minute when they had already stopped not making an attempt to move right away. He didn’t know if Zack noticed but he quickly let go and hopped off the back when he realized what he was doing.
“I’ll see you later,” the cadet spoke quietly while turning to walk out of the garage.
“What?” Zack asked with a shake of his head snapping out of his small trance, “oh…don’t you need to get you’re stuff out my place?”
“No I’ll get it later,” Cloud replied while barely stopping his walk.
“Okay,” Zack said still not moving from the bike, “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Yeah,” Cloud called back while shoving his hands back in his pockets again and heading back to the barracks.
Zack sighed before finally getting off of the bike and exiting out of the garage slamming the door closed. He couldn’t be more mad at himself for choking up like that and not telling Cloud how he felt. He really really wanted too but he just…didn’t want to risk losing Cloud as a friend, he didn’t know how the blonde would react to such a thing. Cloud was so shy and reserved when he first met him and he still kind of was, the slightest move could scare him away and Zack didn’t want to do that.
Stepping inside his apartment he flicked on a light and crossed over to the couch and fell back onto it lazily before letting his gaze travel to the coffee table where one of Cloud’s books from class was set.
‘Doesn’t he need this stuff for class?’ The SOLDIER thought while reaching out and picking up one of the books. Now that he thought about it Cloud seemed in a rush to get back. Maybe he was tired. But then again…he was never really in a hurry to get back to the barracks. Was he mad?
Zack frowned before setting the book back on the table. No, that couldn’t be it, what reason would Cloud have to be mad?
**********************************************************************
“You guys only have a week left of basic training, no slacking off! Even when you’re not in this class you should be practicing for the rest of the week if you want to get out of here. Class dismissed!” Sergeant Okuda finished with a blow of his whistle.
All of the students began to move about exiting the room and talking amongst themselves. Cloud grabbed his gym bag and slung it over his shoulder making his way towards the door.
“Strife!” His instructor shouted causing him to snap his head in the direction.
“Yes sir?” Cloud asked while walking back over to the older man.
“You heard what I said right? You weren’t daydreaming were you? Because I’ll tell you one thing, if you daydream in your next class you’re not going to get very far,” the man explained while crossing his arms over his chest.
“Yes sir I heard you,” Cloud began with a nod, “I promise I’ll be attentive sir.”
“Hmm,” Sergeant Okuda began while looking the boy up and down with a look of slight disapproval, “looks like you’re black eye is healing,” he said with a smirk.
“Yes sir,” the cadet replied while lifting his hand to touch the once sore spot around his eye. Why the hell did the asshole have to remind him of it? He knew his instructor got a kick out of the whole thing. The blonde had lied and said he got it while practicing with another student but Jin’s stupid grin told differently, and even though Sergeant Okuda picked up on it he didn’t care. He probably thought the scrawny cadet deserved it.
“Good luck,” Sergeant Okuda began with a laugh, “if you can be so easily hurt in basic training you’re definitely going to need it…that is if you even pass to the next class.”
“Sir?” Cloud asked with a look of confusion crossed with shock. Did his teacher just imply that he really wouldn’t make it out of basic training? What gave him the idea that he wouldn’t? Not only had Cloud been way ahead of his class but he had mastered every exercise and move with absolute precision, and not even Sergeant Okuda could tell him otherwise.
“The test to get out of basic training is tough Strife,” Sergeant Okuda started while uncrossing his arms, “Wouldn’t want to see you have to repeat this class,” he finished while walking towards the exit.
“Believe me, I wouldn’t want that either,” Cloud said under his breath as he turned and moved slowly out of the room. Seeing Cloud fail would probably make Sergeant Okuda’s fucking day and put a huge smile on his face. The blonde frowned as he thought about that and turned down the hall. He wondered if his instructor would stoop so low as to sabotage his exam somehow. What if he made his harder than everyone else’s? True he was an instructor and he shouldn’t do that…but hell Cloud wasn’t sure. Why did he have to be so hard on him?
Holding back a sigh he readjusted his gym bag and continued down the hall.
“You can’t let them get to you Cloud. There’s always those people who are going to try to tear you down because they don’t want to see you succeed, and I wish there wasn’t people like that but…in this world there is. But you know you have what it takes, I know you have what it takes,”
Reaching his room he leaned his head against the door for a moment as he let Zack’s words from a few weeks back sink in. He was right, but still…sometimes he just felt like giving up. But he wouldn’t, he would show Sergeant Okuda and everyone else that he could achieve something and that he wasn’t a failure. He knew he wasn’t, and so did Zack….
“Zack,” he mumbled softly while closing his eyes. The SOLDIER really had helped him through so much…he owed him a lot. And even with as much as Zack did for the young cadet he still wanted more, needed more. He wanted Zack…more of him anyways. He wasn’t even sure what that meant but he just knew that he wanted more. Maybe he was being selfish but he couldn’t help it.
Opening his eyes he opened his door and stepped inside the room and placed his bag beside his bed. The rest of his classes had been cancelled for the day because of some faculty meeting and he knew Kyo was spending the rest of his free day with Lana.
He hadn’t seen Zack today, they had stopped their training in the mornings a few days back because now Zack had guard duty during that time.
Taking a quick shower he changed into some fresh clothes and exited his room. He figured he should drop by Zack’s, he knew he was probably a little rude to him the night before even though he didn’t really mean to be. But who knew, Zack probably didn’t even realize.
It was pretty dead in the halls and around the whole facility, but it was probably because everyone was out practicing for the upcoming field exams or just enjoying the day off without classes. He arrived at Zack’s shortly and knocked on the door waiting to hear the rapid footsteps of the raven haired youth. But instead he only got silence. Frowning he glanced at his watch. Maybe Zack was in his office doing work…or just sitting in there asleep. He thought about dropping by the office to see if he was there but one he didn’t have a keycard to reach that floor and second even if he did a cadet really had no business up on that level.
He had just turned to leave and was a few steps away when he heard the door pull open. He turned back a little surprised and his eyes widened briefly before his cheeks began to tint slightly.
Zack stood in front of him wearing a pair of black sweat pants and no shirt. His dark hair was wet and clinging to him, a little spilling over his shoulder while a few bangs stuck to his forehead. He had a white towel thrown over his shoulder and a few drops of water were trickling down his chest.
“Hey!” Zack beamed while putting on his award winning grin.
“I…I was just about to leave, I thought y, you weren’t here,” Cloud fumbled over his words tearing his eyes away from Zack and looking at nothing in particular.
“Oh sorry, I was in the shower, I just got back not to long ago from my watch shift,” he explained while moving aside to allow room for the cadet to enter.
Cloud nodded and stepped inside quickly but not before catching the clean fresh scent coming from off the other. He didn’t know why that gave him a warm feeling, after all he had just taken a shower too and probably smelled exactly the same.
“What are you doing here so early? Decided to skip classes after all?” Zack asked while shutting the door and walking into the living room.
“Oh,” Cloud began while taking a seat on the couch, “classes are cancelled because of a faculty meeting.”
“Really?” Zack asked pulling the towel from off of his shoulders and beginning to dry his hair with it, “I didn’t hear anything about that. I thought you had a test today.”
Cloud paused for a moment before shaking his head, “Guess I got my days confused.”
Zack grinned while removing the towel from his hair and raking his fingers through it.
Isn’t it hard to manage all that hair? Well, guess not if he keeps it that way. I wonder if I’ll ever be that muscled. It’s not too much like those crazy body builders, but I’m sure I’ll be scrawny forever. I wonder if being in SOLDIER gets you fit like that. Maybe I can be like that if I make it into SOLDIER eventually. Shit Cloud you’re staring! STOP IT!
Quickly dropping his eyes to the ground he hoped Zack didn’t notice him looking at him, or if he did notice he hoped he wouldn’t say anything to spare him the embarrassment.
“That’s good, gives you more time to study though I’m sure you don’t need it,” Zack continued still messing with his hair. He seemed to busy with it to notice that Cloud had been staring at him. He walked down the hall and reappeared a minute later with a loose t-shirt with the Shinra logo printed on it.
“I’m starving, what about you?” Zack asked while walking to the kitchen.
“Yeah, I guess I could go for something,” Cloud replied while walking to the kitchen and stopping at the counter where he hopped up on one of the barstools.
“I feel like pizza!” Zack exclaimed while grabbing the phone, “Sound good?”
“Sounds great,” Cloud replied with a small smile, absentmindedly playing with a petal of one of the flowers that were sitting in a vase on top of the counter. They resembled the ones that he saw back in Zack’s office. It was weird too see them, he didn’t really think of Zack as one to put those type of touches around the place.
Zack ordered the pizza, or rather the pizzas. Cloud told him he wasn’t that hungry but Zack insisted, but the both of them knew Zack would end up eating the most of it anyways.
“Later on we can practice a bit if you want,” Zack started, “just to make sure we didn’t miss anything for your field exam coming up.”
“Okay,” Cloud replied with a nod.
“I know you’re ready to get out of Okuda’s class,” Zack continued while walking back into the living room.
“You have no idea,” the blonde replied while placing an elbow on the counter and resting his chin in his hand.
Zack took a seat on the couch and looked at Cloud. He was staring at the floor almost like he was thinking hard about something, but Zack couldn’t tell, sometimes Cloud just always looked like there was something on his mind. It was one of the things Zack didn’t like. Cloud was young, he shouldn’t have to worry about things and be so stressed. He should just be able to be worry free and smile more, that was one of the main things Zack wanted for Cloud…to just really be happy for once.
“Don’t worry Spike,” the SOLDIER began, “you will be soon enough.”
“Zack?” Cloud asked after a moment completely ignoring Zack’s last comment.
“Yeah.”
“We should…go back to the ocean again some night…I really liked it there,” he explained softly while lifting his gaze to the other.
Anything you want Cloud, if that’s what’ll make you happy. “Yeah,” Zack started with a nod, “of course.”
Cloud smiled and Zack couldn’t tear his gaze away from him, he saw something flicker in the boys eyes, albeit quickly but still something was there. Was it because he loved the ocean since it reminded him of home? No…it couldn’t be that, Cloud had given the impression that he didn’t care much for his hometown. Maybe it wasn’t the ocean so much at all but it was the presence of the other.
‘No, Zack come on, don’t twist this into what you want it to be,’ the SOLDIER thought, his eyes still stuck on the innocent blue ones just a bit away from him.
Usually Cloud became uncomfortable or nervous and would look away from Zack’s gaze after a while but this time he didn’t, he just continued to stare into the glowing eyes. He somehow thought that maybe if he couldn’t voice to Zack how he felt that maybe, just maybe he could tell him by his eyes.
Zack was just about to speak before his attention was turned to the door where a knock had just sounded from.
“Looks like the pizzas here,” he began with a grin while hesitantly making his way over to the door.
“Oh,” Cloud began with a blink, “right…the pizza.” ….Okay so maybe the eye thing didn’t work. Maybe it was for the better, the blonde thought. He seriously had to get over the whole Zack thing, it was only going to hurt him in the end. Having feelings for someone who would never return them was the worst, and he had already experienced that with Tifa, he couldn’t do it again. But…he guessed he could just settle for a best friend in Zack…it was better than nothing at all. Besides, it wasn’t like it was anything new, he never got what he desired or wanted, that had practically been his life’s story. He didn’t know why he thought that would change now.
