From Now On
Chapter 7 Quistis was reading a book peacefully, enjoying being alone in the comfy room. She had spent the first part of the day walking around, taking pictures and notes for the school work. When she was beginning to tire from the walking, she thought it was better to get back and have a break. The girl brought tea and cookies to the room and put on her reading glasses. Just minutes after she started to read, the door of the room slammed open. "You won't believe what I just saw." "Don't tell me you saw a ghost." The blonde girl didn't even look to her friend, but knew that every effort to be focused on the reading would be lost. She then took a sip of the tea and stared at the petite girl expectantly. "Better yet! I saw Squall sucking Irvine's dick." "What?" Quistis almost choked on her tea. "Really. And I wasn't with my cam. Can you believe it?" "It's the most absurd thing I ever heard from you. It must be real then." Quistis concluded... Even though she was still digesting the unexpected news. It was somewhat disturbing. "What?" Both girls looked at the door and saw a wide eyed Rinoa standing there. She had just come back from her walk with Nida. She wasn't eavesdropping or something like that... she was just passing by and heard the conversation. "Oh... Rinoa." Selphie said dumbly. "Hum..." "Don't believe her, you know how imaginative this little devil is." Quistis tried not to create a commotion... not when she still hoped to find some peace that day. "Where's Squall?" "He walked out of his room some time ago." Selphie replied. "Where to?" Selphie looked at Quistis for help, but the girl looked back and stood silent. "Well... it seems he went downstairs..." Rinoa just glanced at both girls one more time before disappearing from the door. "Selphie... do you think it was a good idea to tell her?" "Well... I don't know... I didn't know what to do... I just... Didn't want to hurt her but... I guess that she deserves to know that... Oh... maybe that's why my plan didn't work..." "Selphie! Stop thinking about your stupid plan!" "It wasn't stupid! Pretty boy, pretty girl, must belong together... Or not... If I knew better... I could match Squall with another guy..." Selphie sighed. "There were possibilities... there were possibilities... If Irvine hadn’t ruined it all..." "Selphie, why don't you find someone for you instead of playing with other lives?" "But you don't want me." "This Irvine's talk won't work with me." "Yeah, I know, Quisty love, you know... my love is so far away and I'm so lonely..." Selphie kneeled on the floor and rested her head on the blonde girl’s lap. "Stop dreaming of anime girls. They're not real." "In fact it's a j-rock guitarist." "Which is the same more or less." "He's so pretty in a dress." Quistis stayed silent in thought for a moment, what exactly was happening to her friends? "Selphie, is it really true?" "Ah... no... he's not the one I like the most." "I was talking about Squall." "Oh..." Selphie lifted her head and stared at Quistis. "Do you think I'm lying?" "No... it's just... as I said, so absurd. Squall never seemed to like guys... well... I can't say he seemed to like girls either so... maybe... I think it's useless to think about it right now." "Yeah! Why guessing when we can spy!" Selphie got up and headed to the door. "Just wait and I'll inform you later." "Selphie..." Quistis hissed warningly. "It doesn't hurt when they don't see you..." The girl winked before running through corridors. xxx The boy stared at the gunblade on the game room wall. He knew that sooner or later all hell would break loose. That had been... definitely embarrassing, so embarrassing he didn't know if he would have the courage to face one of them ever again. "Squall?" There was a knock on the door. The boy felt paralyzed. "Squall... are you there?" I guess I'll have to face it some day... "I'm here..." It was barely a whisper. The door opened slowly. "I figured you'd be here, it was the only door locked." "..." "Do you have something to tell me." "..." "Like why you've been avoiding me." Oh Hell, she knows. "We were never meant to be together." "Why didn't you tell me before? Why did you kept me closer? Why did you lie to me?" "I never lied to you." "Oh yes you did." "I never said..." "You kissed me..." Ah... well... that... "But I never said..." "You know there's much more than words... there are lots of ways to tell something, even without words. And don't say you didn't mean to hurt me, that you didn't know, because you did know what I felt and you just played along..." "Just..." "I'm not finished here. Just be a man once in your life and confess that you've been a coward and you just used me to pretend that you're..." "That I'm not a fag? Oh, fuck, Rinoa, I never..." "Do not curse at me." "I'd never meant to hurt you... really. I just couldn't... I thought... you'd figure it out someday... that I didn't like you. I don't know why you were around me for so long, I'm not the coolest guy around, I'm not a good company... I thought... that maybe... maybe I've been wrong... maybe I should give it a try... I guess it didn't work..." "..." "This is true, believe me or not." "So... that's it?" "Yeah..." Rinoa turned to leave. "I'm s..." "Save it. I don't need your apologies. I think I'll never need anything from you ever again. But... Don't think I hate you. I'd never could. I'm just mad at you right now, so leave me alone..." Rinoa paused for a moment. "I know you will." And then headed out of the game room. "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh." The sound came when the girl opened the door. "What are you doing here?" "I'm not..." The girl started. "Oh... I'm not in the mood for your childish games." Rinoa tried to move away. "Wait, Rinoa." Selphie touched the girl's arm. "Don't touch me!" The girl looked hurt. "I didn't mean to..." Rinoa started. "Just let me go." "You can go..." Rinoa walked to her room, determined to pick all her belongings and run away as soon as possible from that place. xxx Nida was staring happily at the stars over the night sky. So absorbed in dreams that he wasn't aware of all the things that were happening. But soon... The door was suddenly opened. The boy turned his head and found his friend--a desperate look on his face. "What happened, man?" "Everything." "Is there something wrong?" "Does it look like there's something wrong?" Irvine reached his bed and buried his head on the pillow. "Everything's fine!" Nida was starting to become worried. He walked through the room and touched Irvine's shoulder. "Just leave me, man!" Nida was startled. Irvine never said something like that to him. The boy turned suddenly and held the boy's wrist. "I'm sorry." "It's okay..." Nida walked out of his friend's reach. "I guess you don't need me here." "No... stay here." "You need to be alone for some time. I'll come back later." "Stay here." Irvine pleaded. Nida glared at the other boy. "I don't know if you'll want to stay with me again if you go away now." "What happened?" "You promise you won't hate me... much?" "Promise." Nida waited. "I..." "?" "I think it's better for you to hear it from my own words." "Okay." "Because if you hear it from the others." "Go ahead." "I don't want you to..." "I said ahead." Nida was starting to get impatient. "They saw me with Squall." "That's it?" The boy didn't see anything wrong with that, Irvine and Squall used to be together a lot. "He was giving me head." "...What?" That shocked Nida. "He was sucking my..." "I know, I know what you mean!" Nida blushed. It was very awkward to listen to it. But then... then the boy started to laugh. Irvine was mortified by the laugh. "Are you laughing at me?" "No! Man... you almost got me this time." "Do you think it's funny?" "You're joking, right?" "..." "You're not joking, are you?" "..." "Hum..." "Where you're going?" "I don't know... I just... I don't know." "Are you disgusted?" "Hm... no." "Oh fuck, I hate this situation. I just wanted so much to be your friend." "I..." "Go ahead. I don't need you anyway. I need no one." "I didn't mean to... I'm sorry... I just... don't know what to say. I don't know what to do." "I'm sorry, Nida. You have nothing to do with this situation. Well... maybe you have." "What do you mean?" "Now you know that Squall isn't with Rinoa." "Oh..." "At least someone is happy in this situation." "I'm not happy. I mean... I think I'd better leave you alone." "If you want that much to stay away from me, fine." "It's not that... I just... let me bring some food for us then. Are you hungry?" Irvine's stomach snorted. "No." "Well... I'm gonna bring some food for us." And Nida left the room. xxx Something's happened. Seifer saw Rinoa pass by him and by the look on her face... it was better not to ask what happened. Reaching the main floor, he saw Selphie with a devastated look on her face. "Tell me it's not true." It was surely the end of time. Suddenly, he was struck by a surprise force applied by a pair of thin arms. "I'm so stupid..." "Hey... I thought you already knew." Seifer patted the girls smooth hair. "Bastard." The girl said, with her face buried in the blond boy's chest. "What did you do this time?" "Nothing really." Seifer chuckled, but then stopped. "Come here." He led the girl to the couch and made her lay her head on his lap. "Better now?" "Yup." "So spit it out." "I saw things, I heard things..." Seifer laughed. "I can't believe that YOU of all people would be afraid of ghosts! If it was Chicken Wuss... He keeps saying that he sees strange shadows passing through the walls and sensing odd things in dark corners." "You're seeing him a lot." "Oh girl, what are you implying? That I'm fucking Dincht?" "It was one of my plans for the trip, that's why I put you two together in a room." "You..." Selphie hugged him. "At least one target achieved!" "Oh, I'm glad my sexual life is manipulated by you and it makes you happy." "Definitely." "Well... better now? Stop harassing me." "I'm not harrassing you. You're not my type." "Oh thank God. There is a God afterall." "What are you two doing?" Quistis asked, wide eyed. "It's not what you're thinking!" Selphie shouted. "We're not in a hetero relationship." "Oh... good, that would be scary." "Seifer's still gay." "Excuse me?" "Oh, by the way, guess who came out of the closet?" Selphie cheerfully asked Seifer. "Quistis." "Oh... Unfortunately no." "Excuse me?" Quistis. "Irvine and Squall are going at it." Seifer eyed the girl like she had grown another head. "It's not april fools." "Really... Squall wasn't interested in Rinoa afterall..." "No, I mean, that was very obvious to me, but Irvine... He sure went after girls like he meant it. But then... Squall is girlish." The brooding brunet in the game room felt his ears heat up suddenly. "Yeah... he's so pretty..." Selphie spoke with a sheer glimmering in her eyes. "I wish he was a girl." "I don't think he looks that much like a girl," Quistis reasoned. "That's why you wear glasses isn't it, future instructor?" "Just reading glasses! I don't have an eyesight problem as you implied." "I didn't imply, I told you in your face... Ouch!" Seifer ducked his head by the hit. "You sadistic bitch..." "What did you say? Say it again and you will see..." "See better than you?" "You..." Quistis headed angrily to the kitchen. "Grow up." "Hey... Come here..." Seifer grabbed the girl by the waist and put her on the couch beside him. "Don't be mad at me Quisty. You know I love ya." "And I love you too." Selphie said. "And glasses are sexy." "You two are impossible." "Grupal hug!" Selphie kneeled on the couch and stretched her arms to reach for Seifer and Quistis. "Geez..." Quistis felt out of breath. Suddenly, footsteps were heard and the trio looked up. Nida stared at them in astonishment for a brief second and then walked quickly to the kitchen. Selphie laughed. "We scared him." "By the look of it, he’s not used to human touch." "I hope he doesn't think I'm like you two..." Quistis sighed. "Too late! Now you're one of us!" xxx Rinoa packed her belongings furiously, tears of anger running down her cheeks. When she finaly gathered everything, she took a deep breath and looked around the room one last time, before walking to Laguna's room. Staring at the door, she felt uneasy... What was she going to tell him? The man had been so kind to bring her on the trip... But... it was necessary, so Rinoa knocked on the door. "Rinoa..." The man was surprised. "What..." He saw the dried tears on her face and felt guilty. "Come in." "Sir... I... I don't think it's necessary... I just... I just want to go away." "...What happened?" Laguna asked cautiously. "Well... I didn't want to say that but... I know that if I don't say it, you're gonna ask anyway, so... let us say that I had a disagreement with Squall." "Oh..." "I think I will never be able to look at him again..." Rinoa tried to hold back her upcoming tears. Laguna felt his chest clench and held the girl in his arms. "Calm down..." "I didn't want to bring this to you... You've been so good to me. You're so nice and..." "I'm not so good. Definitely not. In fact, I'm starting to think I'm not good at all." "Don't say that! You are wonderful and kind, I wish I had a dad like you." "I cannot be called a 'dad'." "Caraway... Sometimes I think I hate that man." "Look at me." Rinoa tilted her head a little to look at Laguna's eyes. "Your father did his best to raise you, he was always there for you. Even if he didn't say it out loud, I know that he loves you... Don't you ever doubt that." "Yeah... I guess you're right." "Look, it's late and it wouldn't be wise for us to travel now. Hold on for just a few days. You went to see the river? There are many places that I bet you didn't visit." "Yeah... I guess so... it'd be foolish of me to lose this opportunity." Rinoa moved away from the embrace. "You're right." She walked to the door's direction but stopped before leaving the place. "Thank you." xxx "I brought you food." "Oh, man... I thought..." Irvine was surprised to see Nida entering the room with a tray with sandwiches. "You thought I'd never come back." "Well... yeah..." The boy sat up and started to drool over the sight of the food. "I know you can do me no harm." Nida sat beside Irvine. "Unless it's contagious..." "Maybe it is by touch." The boy patted the boy’s shoulder. "Okay... better be careful..." Nida tried to move away as he chuckled. Irvine laughed cheerfully. "You know... I still like girls." "Really?" "Yeah... What... Do you think I was joking?" "But..." "I'm so confused." "Well... I think..." Once more the door was opened, interrupting the conversation. It was Rinoa with her luggage. "I think I prefer to sleep here..." She started and then glared at Irvine for a long time... and suddenly she couldn't find her voice to speak. "Do you mean to exchange rooms with me?" Irvine asked cautiously. "Yeah... That's it." "Okay..." Irvine stood up. "You can stay here, I'll pick up my things tomorrow. My part of the room is kinda messed up, but the bed is clean." "Fair enough." "I may go now." The boy moved towards the doorway and stopped for a second. "I'm sorry." And then he was gone. "Do you mind me staying here?" Rinoa asked after an awkward silence. "Of course not!" Nida was struck by a wave of happiness and felt guilty. Why did it seem like he was the only happy person in that story? Well, maybe that could be changed in time, he hoped. xxx Irvine walked through the corridor with several thoughts running through his head. "What happened to you?" Seifer asked. "It almost seems like you're thinking, it's very disturbing." "Ha ha, Seifer." Irvine walked past him. "Puberty boy is sulking in the game room." "Man, does everybody knows?" Irvine asked in exasperation. "Pretty much. Oh wait, Zell doesn't, I'm gonna tell him now." "Great..." "You know... I don't think it's such a big deal. We were surprised, yes, but, it's not gonna change our lives much." Irvine arched an eyebrow. "I'm surprised to hear this from you." "I know it's not easy to have you personal life splattered over everyone's face. I think it could be a bit traumatic. I kinda imagine what you're feeling." "Well, thanks. I really didn't expected this from you." "What? Comprehension? You don't know me that much Irvine, even if we share the same roof. You don't really know a lot of things about me and I don't expect you to... People don't really see each other, they only see what they want." "Just when did you start to be so deep?" "Proves what I said." "What?" "Okay, you won’t understand, just go there before Leonhart cuts his wrists." "What? Are you telling me I'm stupid?" "Do you think I said that?" "You know, I'm not." "Right..." Seifer chuckled and started to walk again. xxx "Squall...?" Irvine entered the game room slowly. Its lights were dim and he could barely see anything. "What do you want?" "Man, do you intend to spend all day in here? You have to eat." "Did you brought me food?" Squall asked incredulously. "No, I was expecting you to do it." "..." "Joking. Do you want me to bring something over here?" "No... I just..." "...want to be left alone. Oh, man, you're so predictable." "Are you trying to make fun of me?" "Am I? Why don't you come here and see if I am." Irvine grinned. "Aren't you angry at me?" "Why should I?" "Because... Now everyone's talking..." "It wasn't your fault, it was Selphie's. I'm gonna make her pay in some way. You can even help me to plot my revenge." "Aren't you mad at all?" "What? At you? Man, I like blow jobs." "Are you serious?" Squall stood up. "Yeah... You gave me one of the best heads." The brunet blushed furiously... "Erm... thanks." "You could repeat it more often... if you want." Irvine stared at the other boy... He seemed different. "I'm sharing a room with you now... Like in the Orphanage... Or maybe different." "What about Rinoa?" "She’s in Nida’s room. Well, I think you have to lend me some clothes, mine are still in that room, I'll pick them back later... Unless you want me to sleep naked." "It's a really difficult choice." "Oh, come on, it isn't." Irvine winked at him. "Let's go." Squall followed the boy slowly, some steps behind him. He saw Irvine walking upstairs, then entering the room the brunet had previously shared with Rinoa. "Well..." Irvine looked around. Squall walked past him and went to his own bed. Unsure of what to do. "Why so scared suddenly?" "I'm not brave." "Come on, you surely are. I dare you to face me." Squall looked at him and stood up again. "Won't you run away from me?" "No..." As soon as Irvine spoke he felt lips on him... On his neck, again. "Man... Aren't you gonna kiss me for real?" "Damn, Irvine, why do you have to be so tall." "Oh..." The boy leaned down and opened his lips slightly. His eyelids half closed. He felt a pair of hands pushing his neck down and he felt his lips touched by Squall’s, who kissed them until they opened slightly. The dark-haired boy pushed his tongue inside gently, just testing the other Irvine's reaction. Squall kept brushing his tongue against Irvine's until it started to move in sync with his own. They tasted each other slowly in that first kiss, until the moment they parted. They looked at each other expectantly for some time, until Irvine asked, "Dance with me?" Squall blinked a few times, not expecting that question. Despite the fact that there was no music around, the brunet could only think, "I don't dance." Irvine frowned and murmured something. He put Squall's arms around him, making the brunet's hands rest on his back. The move made their bodies press and Squall instinctively rested his head on Irvine's shoulder. They started to move in a slow rhythm, turning and stepping from side to side clumsily. Although Squall thought it was a weird situation, he started to enjoy the new experience, being lulled by Irvine's warm body moving with his. Just before the brunet could drift off, Irvine turned him and hugged him from behind, warping his long arms around him. Irvine leaned slightly forward and blew a kiss over Squall's nape. "Did something change between us?" Irvine asked more to himself, before pressing his lips to the place. For all his teenage years Squall longed for a moment like that, but he didn't have much time to appreciate it when he realized they didn't lock the door, that opened—to the boy's shock. And the pair stopped when Laguna entered the room. He had thought it was better to check what happened between Squall and Rinoa, but realized it wasn't such a good idea when he saw the scene...While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
